  1. Loved this we article on the two faced chancer Liam Fox, he really is a slimy git and almost right up there with Michael Gove https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/2021/02/24/liam-fox-wins-brass-neck-of-the-year-ward-again/
  2. Exactly and it shows us what would have happened had the FM adopted the same Covid strategy as South of the Border, as all the Scottish opposition parties were urging her to do so. I would rather have a leader who delivers a consistent message and adopts a more serious tone, than one who makes false promises over and over again on which they end up having to U-Turn on. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/01/04/yet-another-inevitable-u-turn-boris-johnson-begs-parents-mercy/ https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/from-christmas-to-a-levels-a-tally-of-boris-johnsons-coronavirus-u-turns-215426/
  3. Liam Fox leading Brexiteer and in most sane people's eyes a slimy creep had the gaul to stand up in Westminster and say the Alex Salmond scandal is in danger of infecting all of British Politics. This from a man who had to resign for breaking Ministerial code in the past, a man who lied throughout Brexit process saying that a post Brexit free trade deal would be easiest in history. He also is part of a UK Govt that was involved in Windrush scandal, the PPE scandal involving £Billions being given to Tory party cronies and which resulted in many members of NHS getting ill due to inadequate PPE. But that is not all we had Cabinet Minsters suggesting Grenfell tower deaths were down to the public, they also blamed Covid case numbers not on their confusing rules, but on public themselves. https://www.indy100.com/news/conservative-party-tories-scandals-boris-johnson-david-cameron-theresa-may-brexit-9505986 Clearly they want people to forget about all that, fortunately most of us will not.

  5. I think what every YES voter needs to try and do is remember how empty they felt on the morning of Friday 19 September 2014. I can only speak for myself but i really felt there was a sense that the Country was in mourning as it dawned on us that we had perhaps thrown away a golden opportunity. I don't want to wake up on May 7th with the same feeling, seeing the smug Baroness Ruth and beady eyed Douglas Ross grinning from ear to ear and gloating they have succeeded in stopping any chance of Indy 2. The reality is we would then be tied to Boris' Brexit Britain for the decade as well all know England will vote him back in in 2024.
  6. Seems more than a coincidence to me that the FM is under an orchestrated media and opposition campaign to smear her & demand she resign even before she has even appeared at committee or James Hamilton has produced his report. We had a full 12 months of opinion polls showing YES in the lead, and the FM's popularity was sees as attributing to that. Now lo & behold the media and opposition launch into these clearly orchestrated attacks to discredit her and therefore try and stop Indy in its tracks by preventing pro Indy majority in May. To be honest this is what I and many other Indy supporters expected. The establishment is panicking and ever since the FM said she would hold another Indy Ref without Westminster's approval, they are frantically trying to stop her. What hasn't helped is there is a small but very vocal hardcore group pf Indy supporters (especially those loyal to Alex Salmond) who are actually helping the Unionist cause by joining the attack. For a lot of those people they are furious at FM a she hasn't moved quick enough on independence. Even when you point out to them that up to end of 2019 there was no chance we YES would win, and that trying to run Indy vote in Pandemic would be political suicide, they still don't listen. I do suspect we are about to see Project Fear & smear and every dirty trick in the book over next few months from Unionist media/press. They just want to pull enough votes away from SNP to prevent Pro Indy majority and this derail independence for next 5 years and in reality much much longer.
  7. The Tories and a lot of their supporters are saying that Nicola Sturgeon and SNP have no mandate to call a second independence referendum as majority of Scots don't support it even though it was democratically voted through the Scottish parliament but surely this is hypocrisy of highest order. Firsty let me be clear even though i voted for independence & would do so again i don't want another Ref for say about 4 years until we see fallout of Brexit , however that doesn't mean i am not amazed at hypocrisy of Tory party in saying they refuse to recognise a decision made by Scottish parliament. The fact is at last Scottish elections the SNP polled 46.5 % of national vote and won more seats than the Tories,Labour & Lib Dem's put together and the vote for indy 2 Ref was passed by parliament with backing of Greens making it totally legitimate. If Theresa May was to poll say 44% of vote in upcoming election but fall short of an overall majority by say 2 seats and had to for minority Govt or Coalition and she managed to get Brexit deal passed by parliament it is like her being told by public/lords etc sorry but you don't have a mandate to carry out your intentions. As i said it is both arrogance & hypocrisy and if the EU courts were to say sorry we are not recognising Brexit deal as British Govt does not have clear mandate people on here would rightly be going mental. As i said i am happy to wait at least 4 years but it still doesn't mean the Tories hypocrisy cannot be pointed out
  8. I like Corbyn and some of his policies and the smears by right wing Tory press & party just show what a despicable bunch they are and why they deserve to be treated with contempt. However at this election i will be voting SNP as i do think they have done a lot of good for Scotland and the fact is that before SNP came to prominence in last 10 years & possibility of independence we here in Scotland were treated as a total irrelevance to Westminster and our voices not listened to as well as being dumping ground for various policies such as poll tax. Nowadays we are treated with much more respect and the days of westminster casually ignoring us are over thanks to SNP's progress, if we see a large drop in their support & surge for Tories it will e back to bad old day's of 80's & 90's i fear.
  9. What worries me is that a few SNP voters who used to vote Labour may return to the fold and help give Ruthie and her Tory chums more seats up here than people think
  10. They have done a better job of standing up to Mrs May and her cronies than all the other opposition parties put together :-). As long as the SNP are largest party in Scotland and the independence vote stays around 45% mark it ensures that Westminster treats us with bit of respect rather than the contempt we received all through 80's & 90's.
  11. You must be joking :-), we had a massive Labour majority in terms of seats and Votes up here in Scotland from 1979 tight through to 1992 and they were totally impotent against the Tory Govt of Thatcher and the reason for this is they are a UK Wide national party so even if they did well in Scotland it meant hee-haw to the Westminster Tories. Voting in 50 + SNP MP's was best decision Scotland ever made as since the SNP have risen to prominence and especially since 2014 onwards I can assure you the Westminster Govt and Tory right wing press take them very seriously indeed and the fact that the support for independence has remained pretty steady at about 45% means that they can no longer take Scotland for granted, even Theresa May is very careful to try and appease Scottish voters. Trust me if the SNP and threat of Scottish independence was to dramatically fall we would go back to being totally ignored and seen as an insignificance to Westminster and let's be honest if there was any way the Tories could reverse devolution they would do it in a heartbeat.
  12. I know one thing if the Tories do well and win with large majority we will soon be reminded of why they are the "nasty" party http://www.scotsman.com/news/indy-supporter-told-to-f-off-back-to-scotland-by-tory-mp-1-4445277
  13. There is no Doubt Ruth is not doing herselves any favours by trying to play to the more extreme unionists and right wingers( just as her Boss in England is playing up to the hardened UKIP voters trying to seduce them to vote Tory). I think we will see a lot more of this after GE if Tories win large majority http://www.scotsman.com/news/indy-supporter-told-to-f-off-back-to-scotland-by-tory-mp-1-4445277 They really will live up to their well earned reputation as the Nasty party.
  14. I cannot understand some of the Yes voters negativity at latest polls. If anything the one thing they all indicate is over last 10 days if there is any momentum at all it is for YES,add in all the first time voters more who i believe will be YES voters and i think we have a real chance to make History
  15. As the great Nelson Mandela once said "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. It is okay to fear change we all do but if you let fear dictate your actions instead of hope then you will never reach the heights you may have been destined for.
  16. I cannot believe how many people seem to be conceding defeat before the main vote actually starts. This is what the NO campaign want ,they want to make you think that YES have no chance so you will not go out and cast a vote. Keep the faith and believe and make damned sure every yes voter you know gets out and casts their vote :-)
  17. Over last few days my mood has swung back & forwards as at times from what i have seen & heard i think the No's will win and then next day i see events unfolding & talk to other people which makes me believe that on the ground especially in Glasgow Yes may get a really great result which will be catalyst to victory. Tonight was very interesting i stopped at my local pool hall to have a few games and talk to a lot of the guys who lay in same club as i do and it was quite evident that their was a 2 to 1 edge to yes amongst about 16-18 of the guys there. Also on talkng to three in more detail whilst one told me at his work about 90% were voting NO one of the other guys said at his office it was about 60-40 in favour of the YES side and the other said virtually everyone he knew was a yes voter. However talking to the Barman( i know him reasonably well) was perhaps the most illuminating thing,he has a real active interest in politics and he confirmed 2 things which have been mentioned on here already,he is a No voter and he said he can usually tell the Yes voters because they keep banging on about it unlike himself and others that are voting No.That would indicate that i believe there are a lot of silent No voters out there. The positive thing was that he mentioned he was fed up over last 4 weeks being lectured by dozens of guys about why he should vote a certain way "who as he said "have never voted in their entire bloody life and who have just signed up so they can vote for first time ever in this election and who know nothing about politics". The way he said it made it clear that these dozens of people registered to vote for first time ever definitely seem to be planning to vote YES and that gives me hope,if the YES team can get these voters out in numbers in Glasgow and other major cities i think YES has a real chance.
  18. In just over 24 hours the people of Scotland are faced with a truly monumental decision one which has caused arguments, disagreements, heated and passionate exchanges and some really positive refreshing debates amongst not only politicians but between us the ordinary people of Scotland who on Thursday will decide what path we take for the future. I think it boils down to this if you genuinely are happy with the way things are just now and have been for a long time and believe we are better as part of UK of course i would expect you to vote yes.Equally for those people who feel that the country we currently live in is a place of inequality, social injustice and feel as completely unhappy wit the way things have been heading for years i would expect most will vote YES. I think the real vote changers in this election are the Voters who are still not completely sure which way they will cast their Vote come Thursday and i think there are still a fair few around, sometimes may be leaning slightly one way then a few days later back the other. All i can say is this no one in life who has ever achieved anything whether it be your great explorers, artists, revolutionists, scientists,Entrepreneurs without taking a chance and believing that you can not only pursue your hope & dreams but with a lot of hard work and determination you can make these dreams a reality. Will it be easy of course not,i think any great achievement in life is never easy you have to work at it,there may be many ups & downs on the way but when your goal is achieved you will never look back with regret. It is up to the People of Scotland to decide this Thursday and i for one hope that in the end you will cast your vote not based on fear of what could go wrong but on the hope of all the things that we as an independent Country can achieve when working together. I really think we can build a Scotland which will be fairer, more equal and have Governments that actually reflect more of the will, of the Scottish people than we can ever have if we don't change things. We can build a great Nation not just for ourselves but for the future of many generations to come.
  19. That is pretty much what i thought and have been experiencing,it just makes it all the more crucial that every single YES voter under the age of 55 gets out and votes next week to have any chance as most of the older generation will,or else we could just brick up the entrances to their houses for one day and stop them getting out lol
