  1. Raithed the playoffs again. Get a draw away - tick. Stop Dobbie from scoring over 2 legs -tick. Raith it up at home......of course. Ah well, 4 ganes against Falkirk nextcsrason, then another shot at the playoffs beckons.
  2. BBC's Connie McLaughlin, even after looking at her Google maps, is confident that Methil is in the "north east".......
  3. Phoned for tickets (working tomorrow) and only after call did I realise that I was not asked what stand or where we prefer to sit! Will be interesting to see what the tickets day when they arrive, daughter is OU student but also has a blue badge as registered disabled. No student prices as all ticket, but disabled price £10 instead of usual £8.
  4. No need for this, have some respect please.
  5. Haven't seen much about the 7 day a week income stream for the pitch yet, anyone played on it socially/ammies?
  6. McDiarmid astro behind the main stand also bans flat soles - moulded studs or Astro trainers only. Starks pitch looked really good on Saturday , bounce not erratic which is a problem with older/poorly maintained surfaces.
  7. Boos at HT? no wonder, full time must have been a blast....
  8. The young lad on the bench last week must have signed as no trialists allowed on Betfred. ...
  9. Jack Smith is in the stand with Wedderburn, Milne and Flanagan. So add Vaughan, Buchanan and Dall plus the 14 stripped and that's a squad of 21 . A club official told folks before the game about 6 injured from a squad of 20...........
  10. 65 mile round trip to see my full time, professional team ........ pitch not ready so putting money into a rival club's pockets; unable to field a full squad as have signed injured players and others injured already. Can't blame Eric this season though. .....
  11. Us and Cove each with a nice new artifcial pitch too......
  12. Re lowest crowd - I recall that many years ago (centenary exhibition on the Museum??) there was a cash sheet from a nothing at stake, end of season game from close to the time if the exhibition which showed less than 200 paying with the total crowd of sub 400. Maybe some club history buff can confirm?
  13. Sorry for Eric, the man has committed a huge amount of time and energy to the club over many years, not just the 19 "official" years quoted. If the position is redundant it cannot be re-advertised for a year as far as I am aware so no new face to come in.
  14. The abuse of the wheelchair user was from one voice - I could not identify the individual from my seat at the very back of the stand and would have looked stupid ( and probably ended up being the one chucked out) had I climbed a barrier to wade in amongst the group of guys. I am all for banter at a game ( the early reference to more seagulls than home fans was banter and mildly amusing) but targeting folks who appear "different " is sadly cheap, nasty and immature.
  15. Aye, the wheelchair comment was neither big nor clever, likewise asking the man if he was speaking Polish - disability and racial discrimination all in one. As for the game - a good few positives? Robertson looked class until tired late on, Vaughan and Callachan put in great shifts as did Murray as a makeshift left back.
  16. Newcastle reference reminds me of, when living in the southwest, QOS played a winter friendly against Newcastle. This would be around 1986ish, a young midfielder ran the show as the Toon scored 6. Whatever happened to him? Name was Gascoigne. ...
  17. Friendlies decrease in importance in direct correlation to age in my case. Can remember getting excited about playing Hartlepool in the 70s, then a wee spell when the likes of Swansea and second division Chelsea came to Starks. Otherwise 99% of theses games are torture to watch. The likes of Stranraer v Twente are the rare exception - it would maybe attract interest if we were to try for an Ingolstadt game (local business our council putting a trophy up?) or get Arsenal u23 up to mark the connection historically between the club's.
  18. 1900+ of a crowd at Starks tonight for a women's match that was live on haggis vision. We'll do well to get anywhere near that for most games this season!
  19. Not at the game , but winger Connor McLaren freed by St Johnstone, could be the number 2 trialist?
  20. At least Ainslie Park will give the team experience of playing on astroturf!
  21. As I recall he left the Rovers to concentrate on university, going Junior with Tayport until stepping back up to Arbroath. Tidy player who may well just be the hardworking, consistent squad player who can fill in a couple of positions?
  22. Dream team until the end of the season.....Skacel and Stevenson.....you saw this nightmare here first!
  23. In a comment on the match thread from Monday I mentioned that Vaughan, Matthews and Osei were all in the stand in favour of Scott Roberts, the number 66 and Skacel. 1 gone 2 to go? Could do with a goalscorer mind......John Robertson anyone?
  24. So my question stands - Castle Huntly , midway between Dundee and Perth, so did St J and the Dundee clubs reject any offer for his "services" or is there some connection to personnel at the Rovers?
