  1. With the election result, we know there are roughly 225 trust members. Our average attendance (league only) is 539 this season. I think it's reasonable to assume that around half of our core support aren't trust members. I would urge anyone that can, to join as soon as they can.

Cos we are a massive club with cross-border influence, obvs.

Seriously, I don't know. Alex Wright was well known and well connected, don't know if that's it.

    @O'Kelly Isley III, @microdave, @Silverton End?

I'm afraid I have no idea either. I thought it might have been because Hardaker possibly had something to do with the funding but it appears the sales of Graeme Sharp and Murdo MacLeod paid for it.

  3. I accidentally switched the wiper sensitivity thing in the car off today and the wipers just wouldn't go on. I had no idea it was possible to make the intermittent wiper more (or less) sensitive. I've only been driving that particular car for eight fucking years!

Surprised there are that many, but it makes sense when you consider the hosts/holders are almost always there.

Truly, the Lord has smiled upon this great nation.

He certainly has but you should see who he gave us as neebors.

  5. We are going to be just the eighth nation to play in the opening match of both a world cup and European championship. And we will be the first that has done so that has never played those games as either host or holder of the competition. The others are France, Switzerland, Germany, England, Poland, Belgium and Italy.

  6. While I'm in a mood, I'm going to say something that's been bugging me. I think it's disgraceful that the club don't have insurance against players being injured. My employer has insurance against any injuries that occur in the workplace and I also have personal accident insurance through them which costs me 0.06% of my gross salary which is peanuts but it would cover the price of an operation if I chose to go private in order to return to work. Instead we're having to crowdfund to pay for Greig Young's knee op. If I were a footballer, I would happily take a small pay cut knowing that I wouldn't have to wait long to have surgery if I happened to get a bad injury. It took two months until Young had the op which could've taken place much sooner had the club not had to get the begging bowl out.

What I would say is a strong well run club with great ties to the community generating their own income and not being reliant to owners has massive positives to it.

That's the dream but afaik, the club aren't reliant on the owners as they put nothing in and don't contribute to the day to day running of the club.

Quite the trip down Memory Lane here & some long forgotten faces from my early days watching league football.

My first ever Montrose game was in December 1990 at Boghead- a 4-1 Scottish Cup win. The home support was seething and calling for poor old Billy Lamont's head at the end. Montrose were streets better that night against a poor Dumbarton side. Hard to believe they'd been in the Premier League four or five season before that.

I missed my school Christmas party to attend that game although the game was possibly the better choice. What I find more amazing than it not being long after we were a top flight team is that we won the league the following season. And iirc, it was a Monday night which is some journey to attend your first ever game.

His AI glitch of going for a stroll in the six yard box against East Fife was still one of the strangest things I can recall seeing.

As you well know LWL the goalkeeping position is a specialist one, and it also defines the relationship with, and confidence levels in, the defence.  Whilst Harry Broun can make decent saves, especially on one-on-ones, confidence and positioning at cross balls and corners are too often a lottery and that often sees him fall short on that criteria above.  I have to agree with you.

There was a moment in the first half where he was in no man's land and it was sheer luck that the ball ended up in front of him where he was able to get hold of it. He's still very young however and maybe a loan spell will do him good rather than sitting on the bench for us but I do fear that we're a level too high for him at the moment.

With skillful forwards like these, teams all over Europe will surely be shaking in their boots, and Scottish clubs will just roll over and concede defeat.  My birthday is quite soon.

(One statement in the paragraph above is true.)

    Happy birthday when it comes.

Who is the sponsor and is it just for the game today out of interest?

Ice and fire wellness which is the place the team go to for cryogenic treatment. I've no idea if it's a one off or not but I don't think it complemented the strip very well.
