  1. When Airdrie went to the wall, the directors left one by one until only Joey Rowan remained. He died during the Administration and I’m sure the stress was a factor. He never had any issues with the fans giving him grief as he was very well known to the fans and very well liked, but another cautionary tale of what it can lead to.
  2. £1,500 TV money There’s a TV on the John Lewis website that costs £7,999.99 Prize money is very useful though. Where did you find it? Google wasn’t getting me an answer.
  3. Fair point, I’ve dropped a message to David Allan, who I assume is also on here? Historically when I’ve asked to speak with Managers/the Club, that’s been politely declined other than when Stuart Millar was DoF. They want to put comms out through DTV and the Website. I guess the fan liaison committee sits somewhere between the club and the fans so if they want to discuss on the podcast then I’m happy to pull something together.
  4. The club like to keep their comms in house so I think any updates are likely to come through the official channel rather than an interview with me.
  5. It’s a crazy league this one. DUFC were nothing special on Friday night but got the job done, RRFC with the reserve keeper and 3/4 of last week’s back 4 unavailable the losing the next day. There will be twists and turns to come I’m sure. Murray really stablised us. A couple of criticisms we’d have had would include 1) a lack of an ability to win clutch games (yourselves, Thistle and Cove were never that far away, but the head to head was what did for us). You win at Tannadice was huge in that respect. 2)Throwing on so many forward players that the team lost all structure. The 1 nil defeat to McGlyn’s Raith at Starks when I think both teams finished with 9 men (Raith 2 red and Airdrie a red and an injury) was the ultimate. We had about 5 forwards on the pitch but no coherent tactic to make that work. We lost the game and give that it was the Covid season and we were 5 points behind you when the clock stopped, that was massive. Murray seems to have improved on both fronts (and in fairness at Airdrie, he had more limited resources). Interested to see how the title race plays out.
  6. Deep End Park is one of my favourite away venues too. Do the club need a home for any steak bridies?
  7. I think we can all agree that DAFC haven’t deliberately damaged an Under Soil Heating system to get today’s game off. Alternatively, you could just have flooded a bit of the pitch with a hose, call it a “suspected failure” and it all turns out to have been a bit of a mystery a few days later…. Just saying
  8. You’ll be down there with buckets!! On a more serious note, although it’s not a stipulation at this level, the Pars could go up in which case the USH could be massively helpful keeping some very big games on over the festive period. Cash flow is always going to be an issue for football clubs and rearranged fixtures are likely to reduce the crowd. In short USH could be a big asset for a club. Obviously there needs to some sums done as to whether it costs more to run the system than what you would lose if the fixture changes to a midweek. If you have all that cost and the system fails anyway then it really feels like you should just switch the thing off and only consider a new one if you make it to the Premiership in future.
  9. Frost melting doesn’t turn to surface water! I’m over the water in Edinburgh and it’s positively balmy here!! A burst pipe in Under Soil Heating might, but That probably needs your pitch to be dug up to find and repair it and sounds expensive unless you,ve got good insurance in place. I hope there is foul play, would be a good Nutmeg article in a few years time!
  10. Decent patter that Dunfermline being shite bags and delving into the Wacky Races/Home Alone book of tactics is at least a moral win for the diamonds. Hope we win the replay and it puts a good dent in your cash flow.
  11. I love when foreign players atart to pick up a Scottish accent. Toddy is half Sofia and half Saltcoats these days. Definitely a touch of the Bond villain about him and I’d be delighted if he’s the villain of the piece (from your perspective) tomorrow with the Pars Shaken and the Airdrie support Stirred Diamonds are Forever etc. etc.
  12. Aye, we had a season where we won 1/18 at home and 2/2 at EEP!!!!
  13. Don’t think there’s a thread yet I know Airdrie are on good form, I know Dunfermline are on rotten form and I know Dunfermline have barely a starting line up worth of fit players…… but we never seem to win this game, not even when we’re 3 nil up at home and the Pars’ young team has stormed out to the car park in the huff!!!! Big game for both sides if either really wants to make a run for 4th place. Hoping to break the hoodoo.
  14. It’s the penalties I always remember. First saw him hit one in the penalty shoot out cup win over Celtic at Broomfield in 91 and they were his from then on. Hammered into the bottom corner every time.

  19. This Great to have a big diamond. Sponsor us low down but allows for a more 80s style jersey and nice to vary it a bit year to year. Holemasters have been a brilliant sponsor sticking by us for so long we’ve forgotten it’s funny. Losing the yellow background from their logo is a nice touch from them too.
