It’s burned into my mind, those are the gates I walked up to, got lifted over, as a boy

From what I remember, they were nothing remarkable. Just 3 or 4 sets of double turnstiles in the brick boundary wall that extended to the main stand. There were another couple of turnstiles in the end wall of the main stand in the corner that was formed which led to the south enclosure in front of the main stand. That's where I was taken when I was a boy and lifted over the turnstile until it was getting to the point where I could just have lifted my dad over. Great place to watch the game for a small kid - plenty of room to mess about and also really close to the pitch and players.

  2. I would have thought it would be preferable to complete the season and scrap the league cup for one season. If it is really necessary to have the league cup, then have it in the second half of a truncated season e.g. no split or 2 rounds of fixtures and then the split.

I know there will be the issue of contracts running out but I'm sure the majority of players would agree to extend for a month unless they've signed a PCA.

There's no easy answer and it's going to be the least of umpteen evils.

This isn’t my partner but I did enjoy this story about a Glasgow councillor leaving his family for a colleague.

    https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/18355859.wife-snp-councillor-heartbroken-leaves-party-colleague/?ref=twtrec

She went into his official Facebook page and changed the profile pic to

    IMG_0995.jpg

As well as outing him as something of a beast - “We've been together since I was 13, he was 20”

I clicked on the Herald article and saw the picture of him with his wife. I then assumed the new partner was going to be a younger, more glamourous upgrade on his wife but, having looked her up ..... I would just diplomatically say he has a different taste in women from me.

  4. Bono is proof positive that the Great British taxpayer doesn't give a f**k what you do.
U2 announce a tour 2mrw it's sold out in seconds. Christ only knows how many attendees have posted something on social media about tax avoiding Millionaires.
For whatever reason this country likes to tell everyone that they have morals and are outraged about slave/child labour whilst also loving a cheap top from Primark.
Sadly nobody really cares what you do (short of being a paedo). In about a years time everything will be back to normal with Wetherspoon's busy, folk flying Virgin Atlantic, cleaning their house with a Dyson, Buying U2 tickets and getting gym equipment from Sports Direct.
We are awash with information about how much of a complete c**t certain companies are run by, but nobody actually cares enough past playing lip service to it.
Forgive me if I've missed it, but what has Dyson done this time? I thought he had offered to help.

More likely to be the 1981 Scottish Cup semi final replay between those sides?

Yes, the BBC website now confirms it's the replay you mentioned. If the 1991 game looks dated, I wonder how this will look. Were there any significant rule changes between 1981 and 1991?

  6. An OTB Scrappy Doo?
To be fair, Scrappy Doo was an abomination in the Scooby Doo series.

My cultural references in the office weren't helped by the one guy of a similar age to me being Irish. Music was generally ok but tv references were a bit hit and miss, particularly adverts. The Irish guy was obviously completely onto plums when he started talking about Irish tv adverts from 30 odd years ago, resulting in internal emails linking to shite YouTube clips.
  7. I'm in my late forties and the younger guys in my office frequently give me blank looks as they have no idea about the cultural reference I have just used. Recent example was something about "The Last Rolo". It seems perfectly normal to me but nothing to anyone 15 or 20 years younger.

I quite enjoy OTB when I listen to it but I'm of an age to get what they're saying but they need younger blood as they've a younger generation.
