  1. I remember him having a brief spell with us but I didn't realise just how brief. He signed in April 2011 until the end of the season and only appeared 6 times. Still counts as an ex-player though.
  2. I got my hopes built up there. When I saw the Partick Thistle link I assumed they were announcing Sammon.
  3. I went for a walk yesterday afternoon while listening to Sportsound and have to admit to thoroughly enjoying the Open All Mics coverage of the Championship. It makes a nice change to have no vested interest in the results and be able to take a step back and listen to the action.
  4. I missed the beginning but couldn't work out why Richard Tait's girlfriend, who doesn't even particularly like football, was on as a guest.
  5. Going by those figures, his goalscoring form for us last season was the most prolific of his career. Unfortunately he has now reverted to type. We can either cut our losses or keep him and hope he regains that form. I won't be too bothered either way.
  6. The Chesterfield video hadn't particularly inspired me but that's more like it!
  7. Newell and Sammon would surely be the stand-out candidates for departure.
  8. Motherwell are charging £15 for their cup game against Ross County. £20 does seem a bit steep to be honest against a team from a lower division.
  9. This was all long before administration (and significantly Bosman) when John Chapman ran a tight ship and we didn't go into debt. It was just the way things were back then and everyone paid transfer fees. Different times.
  10. That's a crazy situation where the manager hasn't even spoken to a player and is happy for others to deal with putting players out on loan.
  11. I had heard his name mentioned and sounded out the Dundee thread. The response wasn't particularly good.
  12. I've heard Miller may be coming to Motherwell. How did he do at Dundee?
  13. The phrase "Damned by faint praise " springs to mind. I quite liked him in a way but agree that we need better so not particularly bothered he's away. Thanks and all the best Ryan.
  14. That's one short of a decent team. Any club would struggle with that sort of injury list.
  15. I know we were absolutely dire but we certainly had more than 2 attempts on target, 3 of which brought good saves from the goalkeeper (Main header and 2 Turnbull shots). It was an absolutely turgid game though and we're not creating anywhere near enough and the tactics were baffling.
  16. My local supermarket has the exit at the far side from the shop so there's never any cars parked in the spaces around there. All the lanes around the parking spaces converge on the exit and most people drive directly across the empty parking bays from various directions. It ends up as a game of chicken half the time and is an accident waiting to happen.
  17. I always wondered, mainly due to people ignoring road markings in my local supermarket car park- do normal driving regulations apply to private property such as car parks? If you have a bump due to someone not following normal rules, driving the wrong way up a lane against road markings etc., how does the law (and insurance companies) look at it? I assume the law couldn't care less but insurance companies will apply normal rules. Anyone had any experience?
  18. I got it in Waterstones last week. It looks as though it's out of stock online with Amazon and DC Thomson until they get another run in February.
  19. It's quite a big book. Don't worry - I paid for it! Mind you, I had been talking to the sales assistant about it so he knew I was about to buy it.
  20. Yeah, I think that makes an appearance somewhere in this thread. That picture and the one of the half built stand at Tannadice being used despite not having stairs make you realise that health and safety regulations have their place!
  21. I picked up the Lifted Over The Turnstiles book from Waterstones this week which shows fantastic old pictures of all (almost) the old grounds, only a few I recognise from this thread. Don't know if it's been mentioned before but it's an excellent book (you can skip by the Chick Young foreword). Supposed to be a Christmas present for my dad but I can't help flicking through it.
  22. Thought that might be the case. Price seemed too good to be true.
  23. Has anyone tried the Aerstone 10 year-old from William Grant & Sons? Available for £20 at Tesco in either Sea Cask or Land Cask.
  24. Yeah, I got both done on the same visit but think I only got sedation for the endoscopy as it helps reduce the resistance as the camera goes down the throat. Didn't seem to be bothered about the other end - just plenty of lubricant and away they went. Started drinking the solution the previous morning and spent the day between the kitchen and bathroom- as someone else said, have plenty of reading material to hand! I missed the Motherwell v Celtic game that evening as I didn't have the confidence to be far from a toilet. Spent the evening pacing up and down, listening to the radio waiting for the inevitable last minute penalty and equaliser.
