If you have watched the u21s play then I can see why a technical player might not benefit playing with them. Any midfielders can get the same experience at any park. Just get a couple of mates to launch balls over their heads. So they can stand and watch them fly over. Can hickey punt the ball far? Perhaps thats why he's not making the squads. His punts strength isn't up to the task.

It not as far out of position as you would get is it. If you think Tierney would be weak there fair enough, personally I think he would be excellent.

He should play right wing back because that is where we are weakest. Not upfront, or centre back. We have other options. Better in comparison to O'Donnell and palmer.

That would be great if he did, we would be able to get a look at him regularly and see if he's any good. He needs to establish himself as no 1 somewhere tho. The guy was starting in the league and in Europe last season. Due to injuries I know, but he was playing at a high level last season. So hopefully he can get a decent club.

Yes this was considered before the post, so yes even kicking with his right foot. So yes, stats in isolation. Exactly as you described. Tierney isn't just the best right back we have available. He by far one of the best players we have available. Hes on a different planet to the likes of O'Donnell and palmer.

Yeah I think that's fair, hes certainly proving to be an adaptable player at the top level. I think he's really improved this season, despite actually playing slightly less football. He looks quality every time he's on the pitch. Its a good laugh to go back to near the start and read the ridiculous comments about him being crap Same as the Tierney thread tbh.

O'Donnell has done quite well in the last couple of games. Certainly has moved himself ahead of palmer in the pecking order. I'd still rather have Tierney in at right wing back. Just because he's far better than O'Donnell and palmer at every conceivable attribute which you could judge a footballer. Looking at stats of certain games in isolation means nothing. You could find stats to argue any old rubbish. Tierney is one of the main guys at arsenal for a reason, he can stroll right back far better than anyone else we have.

Im not a hearts fan. But I doubt even hearts fans would have expected him to play as often as he has already. For an 18 year old coming from a much lower level. Its nothing short of remarkable.

I like hornby as well. But like a few others I think he needs to be playing and scoring for his club. Before he's in the squad for us. I dont think there's any need to rush a cap to tie him to us. He's 21 and not starting for reims. Plus he's always played for us and seems to really love it. Hopefully he can start playing and getting some goals and give us a real selection headache.

I dont think the last couple of games have proven anything in that regard. Its been discussed already tho. If we manage to jam a win against serbia with this crap then great.

At times israel were better than us tho, for decent spells. Same as we were on top for spells. We were at home tho, and israel are crap. So it doesn't really reflect us favorably failing to beat them over 90 and then 120 mins.

The 4231 is more adaptable in my opinion. You can play it more defensive or offensive at different phases. Im not talking about us going out there to try and boss the game. Just actually play the game to win.
