I'm not sure the squad numbers are that vital. Talbot got injured at a pretty unfortunate time at the very start of pre-season. One thing that is certain though is that Martin has made up for his poorer pre-season performances by being solid in the Betfred Cup. Whether he is considered first choice or not, he's certainly staking his claim to stay that way just now, imo.

Was back on the bench at the weekend.

I'm genuinely suggesting because I was told he was playing. That's not saying that if someone said Messi or Ronaldo were playing that I'd believe it. I could be wrong, obviously, but it's not completely out of the ordinary that he could've played to just get a game.

That's what I heard from someone who was there. May just be to get a bit of game time, since he's getting none at St Mirren.

Slovakian boy was Filip Duris, he wasn't offered anything and has headed back home again. Shankland saying that on Twitter suggests it's not exactly looking rosy for him anywhere. Also, why would AJ bother trialling him when he's so well known in Scottish football? Was at the game yesterday and (although he was played on the left wing) Shankland was very ineffective and I'd be very surprised if we offer him anything. Would like to see more of Cameron King (CM trialist) and Michael Coulson (ST trialist), they offered that wee bit extra that neither Duris or Shankland did - despite the former scoring our second goal, he did very little else.

This transfer window period is a bit boring really, we've got a cracking team for 5 a side if anyone fancies a game!

Strange move for McCabe, that. A lot of attacking talent needed now, lost the majority of last seasons team.

I also heard there was a bit of controversy regarding the signing of his contract. Don't think it was really anything serious though and I'm sure it'll get resolved and we'll probably see Rhys signing very soon.

I want us to sign Andy Ryan from Airdrieonians, but I feel we won't if it involves a transfer fee.

Things are so dead at EEP just now, feels like months since M'Voto was announced. Suppose it shows we're taking time to find the right quality but it is a bit of a drag, this close season.

Talbot is definitely out of contract, he said he wants to stay here so I'm really not sure what's the hold up. Perhaps a slight drop in wages or maybe more of a possibility in less game time this season (although we'd have to be signing a very good LB/LWB for that to be the case, imo).
