Motherwell FC - A Thread For All Seasons
Dons_1988 replied to Casagolda's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I'm coming at this from virtually total ignorance so apologies but I am genuinely interested. Is it the case that unfortunate cup draws in the league cup and to a lesser extent the Scottish cup added to the disappointment? Realistically top 6 could still be achieved which wouldn't be that bad would it? Or is 6th not seen as much given the bottom 7 all seem to be fairly poor in terms of consistency. -

People at work who actually think I'm interested when I ask "How are you?" in the mornings. -
There are 3 cubicles in my works toilet and only one of them gets 4G signal on my phone. I have actually postponed shite's to make sure I have signal that I can use to kill part of my day on the toilet.

I agree. Going back a few years I always felt he was a defender who could play well for 88 minutes but seemed to always have one or two major lapses in games which cost us but he really seems to have cut that out of his game as well as offering (admittedly limited) an attacking threat to his game. P.S. there appears to be a new red dot campaign against you -

I'd be very surprised if that is true. As a casual observer I'd say it's more likely your want that to be true as it fits your profile of a rangers fan -

I know you disagree and I understand that. I would just rather see the focus of Scottish football changed going forwards instead of stripping titles. As it happens I've resigned myself to neither happening. -

I recognise some of what Rangers fans put up with however it is entirely your choice to acknowledge the shite and ignore the sensible -

I wouldn't expect you to be in support of title stripping. You are, after all, a football supporter who's ultimate desire is to see your team be successful. Is there no part of you that looks back on that era and has even a hint of doubt about the rationale and credibility of not disclosing the payments to the authorities? Especially when the examples can be given of clubs being expelled from competitions for entirely trivial matters. I have no particular desire to see title stripping, to my mind what's done is done and ultimately nothing can change that. But you surely can recognise that this was a hugely grey area as to what constitutes 'unfair competitive advantage' in the eyes of the law/football laws, and that the moral argument is a much more simplistic one. -

I'm going to play Devil's advocate here and have a modicum of sympathy. The last few days has seen P&B threads relating to Rangers descend into petty mudslinging from both sides which quite frankly I find pretty tedious. F_B is generally reasonable on a day to day basis so I can imagine the last couple of days must make it seem a thankless task to be a Rangers fan on here and to try and be fair minded. Certain others on here are just relentless bores on here all the time irregardless. -

Pleasing that the pseudo-superiority complex you get from supporting a football team (that you don't even watch apparently) has been reduced to the number of posts about them on a football forum. There are a number of very valid reasons for why you are spoken about on here a lot, most of them hilarious. It also appears Friday nights antics have caused you to blow a diddy fuse and repeat the same drivel over and over and over again, also coining the term 'utter diddy'. A proud weekend sir. -

Normally a fan of Tom English but his piece on Brendan Rodgers today is pretty nauseating it has to be said. He's doing a great job with Celtic obviously but some of this sycophantic narrative is getting a bit too much I must say. -

Hence my post earlier. This whole 'big club/small club' argument is totally subjective and in reality very boring. You will never find a definitive answer and even if you did it would mean absolutely nothing. Why it consumes so much time in the eyes of football fans I have no idea. Just focus on what's happening on the pitch. -

It is with great sadness that today P&B accepts the resignation of WMM. Despite occasionally posting mildly amusing content and an admirable love of Scotland's most successful European club, his position became untenable due to an act of gross misconduct. The site will make no further comment on this matter. He is dead to us. -

I think this can be boiled down to a few things: - the term 'big club' is a totally subjective thing that has been manufactured into some sort of title in the modern game by tv companies who boil the size of a club down to viewing figures they attract on tv/attendances etc, they have no relevance whatsoever in a sporting context. - no club 'should' be somewhere based on attendances, history or any of that nonsense, again only sky sports and its hangers on (or media figures in Glasgow who are desperate for Celtic and Rangers to be relevant on a global stage) would have you believe that - I agree with Lichtie that Hibs have a squad that is certainly capable of competing in the Premiership, I would stop short of saying comfortably top 6 though, I think there is a fair few average at best players in and among some decent premiership quality ones. - Anyone who's enjoyment of football is reduced because the stand behind the goal isn't packed with people probably needs to question why it is they watch football, if it's for noise and colour then you're probably a simpleton. -
