  1. Obviously the people running the game are total incompetents but this is a real cultural problem within Scottish football. The attitude that English football is the template for football in how to run it, market it etc etc is so ingrained within the hierarchies of Scottish football and the media it's barely believable. They are a far bigger country with far better footballing infrastructure and global appeal, only an absolute moron wouldn't realise that if we try and mirror that set up we will just look the the shambolic, amateurish version of the English leagues. We should have innovative people trying to maximise the strengths of the Scottish game (of which there are plenty btw) and marketing it as such. Play on the fact that the English premier league doesn't offer the 'real' experience of football anymore. If the police would wise up and lift the alcohol ban at games, even just low risk games then it's a real opportunity to market ourselves as the alternative to the EPL fannies. But no, we'll continue to get "we can't market Inverness v Kilmarnock, the English might laugh at us".
  2. TBH I don't think Cardiff will pay what is required to get him. You get the sense Jonny isn't worth more than 500k to Cardiff but he's worth far more than that to us, if that makes sense.
  3. It's not pillocky but it's also not impressive. A weekend trip to Germany with mates followed by a game of football, it's hardly that difficult to sign people up to that.
  4. I think it would take at least 7 figures for us to consider it and I doubt anyone is willing to pay that tbh.

  6. I read Smith's quotes just to make sure it wasn't overblown tabloid nonsense. It's not, he does say they need to gamble with going into debt to compete with Celtic. He actually says 'people can say what they like about being sensible but...'. Now, a business being in debt is not necessarily a bad thing, sustainable gearing is perfectly legitimate. But we are talking about a club currently relying on soft loans to pay the existing bills. So to suggest that they spend millions on speculative transfers just to satisfy their little pantomime rivalry with their best mates is just lunacy. And I agree with you, 5 years ago the administrators were trying to pull on the heartstrings of everyone with 'Rangers fans just want a team playing at Ibrox to support'. Clearly this is not true.
  7. It's a quite incredible mindset. If I was a Rangers fan (gads min) I'd be insulted by the utter dog shite printed by the likes of the Record never mind one of their club 'legends'. "Just spend money, that's what Celtic are doing and we're Glasgow Rangers, we must spend" merely 5 years on from driving themselves into the ground for this very reason.
  8. I'd be hugely surprised and angered if we were to sell Hayes for anything like £500k. He has 18 months left on his deal, we're not desperate for a minor cash injection, selling him would put European football at risk, majorly piss off fans and reduce attendances and we couldn't replace him like for like for £500k. It would make absolutely no sense.
  9. [emoji1] The random fat c**t boxing. The scary thing is davie bhoy used to come on here and argue this stuff as fact.
  10. Agreed. Also they are absolute cowards when they say it because they never mention who should drop out to accommodate the "big" club, just that they want them back.
  11. Agree with this. The Glasgow media especially love to hammer home the 'down South they think x about Scottish football' when it really is an irrelevance to most people in Scotland. The English always have and always will hold our game in contempt, we're not going to change it. Let's concentrate on ourselves. It does feel like the media here has been totally consumed by the commercial argument for everything. The "need" for Hibs and United back in the league is purely financial so that Sky or BT might be more interested. It amazes me the amount of people in the press who have totally lost sight of the fact that Hibs and United are there purely and simply because they were both useless.
  12. Did Hearts not significantly change their squad from the championship winning side?
  13. Logan the latest to be linked with a move to Ipswich for £200k. We really must have them rattled.
  14. "What's annoyed you today Alan?" "I just hate...the general public"
  15. I like how they threw in 'he likes jack and McGinn as well' for good measure. Top trolling
  16. "You're the worstest" "No, you're the worstest!" "NO, you're the worstest!" and so on. Welcome to the greatest derby on earth.
  17. In fairness reading the quotes it reads more like he just thinks one of the two of them will go up, which is probably fair. I'm sure he probably does believe the whole 'they deserve to be in the premiership because they have big crowds' bullshit.
  18. Journalism would be entirely pointless if the editor/chief exec or whatever didn't back their employee in this kind of dispute. If a journalist is censored from reporting fact on the basis of someone doesn't like it and the editor supports that censorship then the whole game is a bogey.
