  1. Agreed. I think people have put McBookie suspending betting in under 24 hours, Scott Burns retweeting the Bartley article and the Mathie connection together and decided Bartley's favourite. If it is him he'd need to relocate and depending on his contract pay compensation to Livi along with putting together a backroom team. However Mathie said himself that he suggested 4 names and others may have been approached since. It's clear whoever it is will need to align themselves with the new vision so hopefully we can get it sorted this week and give the new coach as much time on the training pitch as possible.
  2. Not sure that's true. They definitely followed each other before Mathie joined us and imagine have been since being together at Hibs.
  3. Termination of a Director - Lachlan had enough involvement in picking new managers
  4. Having sat behind him today Scally did at times appear to be as much of a fan as the rest of us. Nearly fell out his seat when Reading's shot came back off the bar 1st half. Also seemed genuinely pleased when McKenzie scored the second. Although his scouting report seemed to only consist of taking pictures of the set up we had for both attacking and defending corners so hopefully that performance today has given McCall a few extra thoughts for the midweek game.
  5. Guess we prefer the pitches at Ayr Academy as we seem to return every time the schools are off. Can confirm no sightings of a M4RV B86 reg in the car park during my lunchtime walk.

  7. Found a podcast Bartley was on last month and he comes across as driven, ambitious and articulates his points well. Also enthusiastic about becoming a manager in his own right and I think enthusiasm is something Mathie has shown from the two interviews so far and will be looking for someone to match that. Bartley’s currently mostly responsible for the defensive side of things at Livi so he’d need to use all that knowledge here. Did speak about a few examples regarding his experience of man management one of which was getting dropped for the Scottish Cup final and the manager not letting him know beforehand and how such situations will help shape him as a manager. Still not convinced it's a done deal unless Mathie's list was narrowed down as the others on it said no.
  8. I'm imagining McBookie have looked at who Mathie follows on twitter and used it to to help make up the list. Thought he might feature myself but not that high up.
  9. Does this suggest we've ran out of money as Timmins is on a 2 year deal same as Hopkin? I'm not sure what he does apart from warm ups including with the subs at HT and given both he and Stillie are originally GK coaches we could save a wage. Also having walked by training at Ayr Academy in the summer, while Duffy was taking training, Timmins was coming back with the physio from a walk down the woods.
  10. Would agree with that. Highly doubt Duffy will be in charge next season but Mathie will want time to suss out a few different candidates and any immediate decision to sack Duffy might end up being knee jerk if we panic and go for the first available manager. As for the playing style comment it probably did need more context as it was only mentioned for about 20 seconds. Hopefully it was more a case of Duffy saying we struggle to play good football as we don't have a CM to dictate the play and this should be a priority that needs addressed in the upcoming window. If he was suggesting that even if he had the Barcelona team from the 2000's that he'd still play Duffyball then I'd be more concerned.
  11. Graeme Mathie is on the latest episode of Graham Spiers podcast. Probably makes similar points to the interview with B&W TV but expands a little. Also said he's had two meetings with Duffy this week and mentioned playing style. Came across like Duffy has told him you can't play good football in the Championship so expect his wish list for January is more Salkeld types and less O'Connor's.
  12. I think we tried years ago to get a partnership with Whitletts but I'm guessing the offer was a full squad of players and our academy coaches in charge as we ended up going to Lugar for the 15/16 season and Annbank the follow season and that was the deal they got. A few recognisable names played on loan for both most notably Luke McCowan so maybe with no reserve league and some teams struggling financially it's worth considering again.
  13. This is the players we've got out on loan that I know of currently and where those teams are in the league. WoSFL Premier Kinlay Bilham – 19 y/o – Irvine Meadow Pos: 8/20 Paul Smith – 19 y/o – Cumnock Pos: 12/20 Jonny Hogg – 17 y/o – Rossvale Pos: 17/20 James Dolan – 18 y/o – Rossvale Pos: 17/20 WoSFL Conf A Alex Jeanes – 18 y/o – Girvan Pos: 9/16 Andrew Heaney – 18 y/o – Girvan Pos: 9/16 Will depend on how much of an opportunity they get with us and the individual characters but in the past players such as Longridge and Crawford showed no fear when making their debut in this league while it was here where McGuffie and McCowan first featured regularly. Personally I'd prefer watching an unknown 18 y/o Forrest type player from the academy over someone like Salkeld who is never likely to improve.
  14. Listened to a few podcasts yesterday that Mathie had been on and his passion for the youth development side comes across. Mentioned the different perspective he found between being academy director at Hibs to that of helping coach his sons team at Cambusdoon so hopefully can bring both viewpoints to the table. Also talked about player progression and pathway into the first team using Porteous as the example. 4 seasons ago instead of bringing in an experienced 4th choice CB, he was given that opportunity and the money was used for another position. Pre-season McGregor got injured and Porteous ended up playing the next 6 months. That's not really something we've done well at and even a simple thing like instead of naming 5 or 6 subs we could call up 1 or 2 U18's (ones not out on loan of course) and give them that experience of a 1st team matchday and it gives them extra motivation to keep improving to the level required. Sadly not sure that will happen this year as the short term nature of Duffy's contract means he'll likely go with experience over youth as he won't get any benefit out of it. As for Smith he always comes across as a nice, likeable, honest and hard working guy with Ayr's interests at heart but in the football world maybe a little naive and prone to taking things personally (in the Spiers interview he mentioned an agent, Todorov's I imagine, that wouldn't be welcome at Somerset anymore) but certain things might be more unique to football in that sense which he wouldn't get in the building world. However he deserve credit for recognising he doesn't have all the answers rather than doubling down and making things even worse.
  15. https://www.nottheoldfirm.com/exclusive/hibs-graeme-mathie-explains-transfer-software-aiding-easter-road-recruitment/ Hibs sporting director Graeme Mathie has explained how the Easter Road club have benefitted from using transfer software with the likes of Arsenal and Juventus. Described as ‘transfer speed-dating,’ TransferRoom is a platform which allows clubs to network directly on a wide-range of topics, mainly recruitment. Hibs secured the signing of Vykintas Slivka from Juventus in 2017 with help from the service while a friendly has been arranged with fellow platform-user Arsenal. Excited for Aaron Ramsey to swap the black and white of Juve to solve our CM issue
  16. All my exclusives are actually based on checking the clubs twitter followers. Should just pretend to be ITK.
  17. Which 2 are you referring to as I'm not sure a time when we've only had 2 directors? Kirkwood and Grant? If so Smith was already a director when both of those resigned along with Houston and Murray. Or are you going further back to Pettigrew and Peterkin leaving a couple of months after Torrie?
  18. If this is his home address then Smith should get in touch as we badly need some consultancy on the football side of things. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/SC714736/officers
  19. Yes Dunfermline was the first game after Hopkin left and Duffy appeared to have some enthusiasm. John Joyce was probably the coach up at Arbroath as even when Hopkin was here Joyce was vocal in giving instructions mostly to the defence.
  20. Correct. I'm sure he was more vocal in the caretaker spell but against Albion Rovers he seemed to spend most of his time being propped up by the dugout. Same with Timmins who spent most of that game chatting to Fjortoft and Maxwell once he was subbed. The feeling I get is the coaching team only stayed as they had nowhere else to go as Hopkin took the huff but had he been successful and got poached then they'd have no doubt followed him quick enough then. Worry would be it's job to them and each loss has no impact on them and they've no desire needed for a relegation battle.
  21. The club probably did have some valid reasons to address the issue considering how close it was thrown to our own players some of whom were on the ground celebrating, the fact it was a wooden stand and that any fine the club receives could impact the playing budget heading into January. However the statement doesn’t really mention any of this and gives off vibes of someone turning up at work crabbit on a Monday morning and firing off angry emails to folk. Particularly at a time when its radio silence from the club about everything else, ideally the issue could have been mentioned in this week’s AP with a comment from a club source and it wouldn’t have got people’s back as much.
  22. We heard similar about Michael Rose but in his first season I remember watching him play CM as we lost 4-1 to Morton and he was out his depth at this level. He benefited from our relegation by being given a regular position and playing alongside some experience and 5 years later is playing for a Coventry team 6th in the Championship. McAllister is on a 2 year deal so maybe worth a loan to League 1 until the summer if we can bring in someone to replace him.
  23. Could be wrong but I think the SPFL rule below wouldn't allow the club to show any game where a stream needs purchased. Obligations on holders of Pay-Per-View Tickets 4.1 You must not (nor authorise or permit any other person to): (a) use your Pay-Per-View Ticket contrary to these Terms and Conditions, including use for any unlawful purpose contrary to any applicable laws and regulations; (b) use your Pay-Per-View Ticket other than for private and domestic purposes. Under no circumstances must your Pay-Per-View Ticket nor any match footage or other content be accessed, viewed, recorded or used for commercial or business purposes and you must not access, view or use your Pay-Per-View Ticket in circumstances where members of the public can view the accessible match footage or other content (whether simultaneously or not);
  24. Problem was we never got much momentum as our home game the following Friday against Inverness was postponed less than an hour before kick-off. By the time it was rearranged Shankland was still making his way back from injury so didn't start. Overall the point we lost our way was when we didn't win any of our 5 league games between the 5-0 game and beating Dundee Utd 1-0 at home the week after the Talbot game.
