Big chris mackie has taken over at fauldhouse.

what do arthurlie fans think ?

Best of luck to him.  He was very poor at Arthurlie.  He was given the job far too early. As caretaker he won his 1st three games and rather than keep him as caretaker until the end of the season he was appointed full time.  That was a mistake.   At the end of the season he got rid of some great prospects who are now flourishing at other clubs.  He brought in a whole group of players who were very poor and our freefall continued.  He is partly to blame for our position today.

If the big man can learn from his mistakes at Dunterlie there is nothing to stop him becoming a good manager.  I hope he succeeds.

Nice post this. Last season was a right scunner for you lads but from the outside, things seem to be improving for you now. Whenever this season starts, Arthurlie will be in a false position IMO. Hopefully bright horizons for the club. All the best.

As nice as this post is mate, Arthurlie are exactly where we deserve to be. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. We have watched as our club has been on a slippery slope for years now.  Some horrendous managerial choices and signing players not fit to wear our shirt has been our downfall and seen a frightening decrease in our attendances at Dunterlie.

Rumours would suggest we are about to sign much better players who hopefully will see us good enough to challenge again.  With only the winners going up from our conference it's going to be tight and we should be one of four teams in with a real shout of getting that promotion.

Thanks for your good wishes they are much appreciated.

    As in Chris Mackie?

He best hope things don’t go same way as it did at Arthurlie. Think he had to pay for a lot out his own pockets there.

He was a disaster at Arthurlie.  Best of luck to him.   A big chance to prove he can be a decent manager.

Would find that strange as the contracts of players do not at best finish until the 3rd week in June therefor a bit oops a lot of TAPPING must have taken place NOT surprised

MacDuff played a few games for us at the tail end of the season. I take it he was signed.   So no tapping involved as far as i know.  Doesn't hide the fact that it goes on though.

Before our new management team had taken their first training session we were hearing about the players they were bringing in from other clubs.   A few weeks into this season and Medda had been nipping away at  Lee Roulston to sign for them.  Any club who say they don't go after players in this way are talking nonsense.  We all know it happens.  It's football.

He knocked the offer back heard smith coming back mcbain goalkeeper

I don't blame him knocking that back. Personally i thought the boy had the makings of a great full back.  Anyway as i say, we must have some really good players coming in if we aren't serious about keeping MacDuff.   Heard the Smith rumour plus another 2/3 of his team mates.  Don't know McBain.  He will need to be good to oust Gordon i would imagine.

They wanted to sign Macduff then loan him out I’m hearing there’s about 20 signed players at the moment

I've heard some of the names who are signed/signing .  A few ex players returning to the club.  To be fair we must have some cover if we were going to loan MacDuff out.  The lad was exceptional in the games he played for us.

    PLAYERS LEAVING THE CLUB

Arthurlie Football Club can today confirm that the following players will be leaving  the club at the end of their current contracts.

    Daniel McKay
    David Reid
    Jamie Docherty
    Jason Andrew
    John Middleton
    Liam Mushett
    Ross Urquhart
    Tony Etherson
    Craig Molloy
    Cammy O' Neil
    Kieron McDade
    Fraser MacDuff
    Niall Reynolds

We wish to thank all of the players for their hard work and effort in the sky blue and white and we wish them every success going forward.

Thanks for that Stephenafc.  Quite a list there.   Surprised with 3 of those players leaving .  I know he hadn't played many games but i was really impressed with MacDuff, a real pity he is on there.  Interesting to see Roulston isn't listed and hopefully he will stay.  By my reckoning we have kept about 6 players so it's a massive rebuild again. Exciting times ahead.

I've got to say i'm very impressed with the speed at which the fans have been informed of this and hopefully this is the start of big things for the club.

  8. I've heard quite a few of the squad have been released and there are at least 2 surprising names among them.  A few experienced players being mentioned to be coming in but i think the focus will be on youth, which isn't surprising considering where our management team have come from.  Looking forward to it all getting underway.

I would hope it would be, however probably not😕

I received a message from megaspinernet2 and it is only open to season ticket holders.  I'm sure the rest of us will  be kept in the loop further down the line.

Pitches don't take long to recover.  Especially one like Beechwood.

  11. Slightly disappointed by our defeat at the weekend.  Once again our comic defending was our undoing.  Whitletts didn't have to try very hard for  their goals although they had a couple of decent finishes.  Even in defeat we can see the improvements made to the team. So on to Dalry next and i doubt very much we will see an 8-1 victory like last season .  I would be delighted with the points and a scrappy 1-0 win.

It wasnt advertised on any forum as it was a secret for Jimmy. I was soley responsible for organising the night and tried my best to get as many along as I could.

It willl happen again next year regards the hall of fame and it will be made public.

You have taken my post the wrong way . I was not criticising the club for not advertising the night.  I was criticising them for the lack of pictures etc after the event and the poor turnout of committee members.

Had I known about this I might have gone along but as usual with Arthurlie it seems that there is a distinct lack of information made available to those outwith the 'inner circle".

Their PR is an absolute joke.

To be fair mate the club couldn't advertise the night as Jimmy knew nothing about it.  It wasn't an inner circle thing.  A lot of people knew about it.  I heard about it through word of mouth at some of our games.

My complaint is that in the days following it there was absolutely no coverage on any Arthurlie media outlet.  Pollok, Talbot, Neilston etc. would have had pictures of the night all over the place if it was one of their legends .

  14. Last Wednesday, Jimmy McQuade was the 1st inductee into the Arthurlie hall of fame. A night was held in his honour in the Arthurlie Inns .   A large crowd attended what turned out to be a fantastic night.

The Scottish Cup was brought along as he was Arthurlie manager when we lifted the trophy in 98.  Some lovely memories from guest speakers who spoke in glowing terms about Jimmy.  A well deserved honour .

I have noted a strange lack of information of this night on any of the Arthurlie media outlets.  Any other club would have pictures  plastered all over the place. Our committee are indeed a strange bunch, only 3 deemed the night worthy of their attendance. I was also told that past Presidents/ Vice Presidents didn't attend because they have no time for the present incumbents, neither of whom turned up anyway. The petty rivalries couldn't even be put aside for an Arthurlie legend.

Congratulations to Robert on a well organised night .  It was a privilege to be there and pay homage to Mr. McQuade.

Really impressed today. Thought we were outstanding for most of the game. Even after going down to 10 men we had all the chances. Was impressed but the new youngsters McDuff & McLaughlan making their full debuts. All players worked their socks off and deserved the 3 points.

I agree mate. A vast improvement and we now look like a team moving in the right direction.  Petershill were a decent team but we were superior to them in every department. We could possibly have scored more goals but the points were the main thing.  Like you i was very impressed with the new lads and i reckon McDuff was possibly MOM.

When we went down to 10 i feared the worst but we weathered a mini storm for 10 minutes but finished the stronger team and ran out comfortable winners.  Very impressed with the improvement in such a short  space of time.  May still be a few setbacks but there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel

  17. I like going to Petershill despite the pitch.  Usually decent games between us although the reverse fixture was a shocker.  3 points would be great but a draw wouldn't be the worst result either. Taking it the game will be on unless we have snow and ice.

The neilston vs pollok ref is travelling down from Aberdeen tomoro morning lol so neilston will be a  early call

Im positive the Arthurlie game will be off so i wouldn't mind taking this game in if its on.  Best tie of the round in my opinion.  Heart says Neilston , head says Pollok to join Talbot, Beith and Darvel in the semis.   Best of luck to all the teams.

Your mob have polluted the other podcast and get enough hype there. Leave these lads to their own opinion.

I know who i would rather pay to watch and its not Darvel.  Blantyre team built on a shoestring and playing for the love of the game, not an over inflated wage packet.  Lets face it , Darvel stop paying big money and most, if not all those players, will be  out the door.

Most neutrals i have spoken to agree the Vics are the best football side they have met.  They can't all be wrong.

I think we should. What can you loose by doing it? If we ca raise funds for floodlights and while we are at it terracing improvements then we could get licensed and enter the senior Scottish cup. I have been an advocate on this for a number of years and we looked into joining the LL a number at its formation.

Fundamentally nothing would change for the club except the chance to progress if we were in a position to do so.

I agree. We really need to have a serious think about it.  I sincerely hope Arthurlie aren't waiting to see how other clubs react.  I have noted  the excellent statements some clubs have issued , keeping their fanbase updated.  As per usual i won't be holding my breath waiting on something similar from Dunterlie.

Do you thing the committee will support there ambitions? Sometimes you need to go that bit extra financially to bring in players that the management want.

They will support them as much as they can but there is no money pot at Dunterlie.  I am certain the guys knew that before they took the job.
