Great result against Patrick, they gave us a few frights in the 2nd half but we held on and we could have added a 2nd late on through a couple of chances despite a few scary moments at the back. Tom Taiwo should have burried his effort late on, but it didn't cost us and he done welll in the middle tonight. Kerr and Sibbald quiet again, mom performance from Grant IMO and Smith and Baird done a lot of grafting. Again thought more intelligent play from forwards (including midfielders breaking into the box) could could have seen a couple of Smiths crosses create a goal. Much improved from last season.

Assuming the guy I mentioned who watched us on Saturday and last Tuesday is knocking around it's fair to say we have other irons in the fire.

Na can't really recall his name properly - it was foreign and we were rather drunk. He was with Arsenal Reserves and been on loan to Championship / Premiership teams getting 18 first team starts....no idea how long ago that was though...aged 23 I think....6ft striker. With no idea how to spell his name found it difficult to find anything more concrete I'm afraid. Back Post Missed seems to have some info but I don't know how much.

Don't disagree - my point was more that it's positive to see we're casting the net wider than a lot of folk would have you believe. I just don't want to accept that Houstie is lazy etc. it's not a thought I like to associate with the guy we all wanted at the start due to his connection with us. The guy we spoke to and shared a taxi to the game with indicates that i can take some comfort knowing that there's still activity and effort going into signing forwards - despite Houston saying a few times in interviews that he's happy with the squad currently.

To be fair, it was more my mate who was chatting to him and he was pretty drunk...so add the language barrier / accent and he may have been misinterpreted. Good to see someone from outside the central belt being tracked though!

Are we only talking about smaller teams? I recall being horsed 8-1 by Celtic reserves a few years back...that wasn't pleasant at all. Don't think they had a single first team player in the squad, a league cup game IIRC.

Totally agree - we're heading in a direction that doesn't feel great. Some folk just seem to have given up hope now. Well depressing!

Hopefully he comes up with the right options. Even allowing only for a modest increase in budget from last season you'd imagine we still have enough to get the right forward in and possibly a right back.

Islam Feruz?? There was a lot of fanfare about this lad a few years ago but he hasn't done anything at first team level even in a few loan spells. I'm not saying he couldn't do well in this league as he must have something to have Chelsea offering him long term deals but he's in no way a target man, or experienced.

How did your mate know Will needed a place to stay if it had nothing to do with the club? Surely there was SOMETHING to do with the club in those arrangements? In any case it's a great thing knowing these specific details cheers for sharing.

To hell with expectation, right now and for the first half of the season at least we should be aiming for the title. That way if we fall short we still get playoffs. Even with better resources I see no reason we should expect defeat off anyone before a ball has been kicked. The knicker wetting going on just now, both on here and in particular on one f is getting tiring to say the least.
