I never mentioned Big Jonny .... your the one that’s talking pish & not being very gracious IMO
Touche
The very essence of being gracious here is accepting the outcome without excuses ! I merely stated the players Newton were using / short when it was used by Easy Easy as the reason I’m assuming for dropping points ! I personally though it was a good game and the draw was a fair reflection of the effort both sides put in , you guys may think differently and that’s your prerogative

Humility???
Incorrect word choice admittedly but surely making excuses for not beating a team that was 4th last in 2018-19 isn’t very gracious ! These things happen , accept it and spare us the ‘we didn’t have big Johnny’ pish

Not quite, the fact Bonnyton had 3/4 first team players missing and 16/17 year olds in the team maybe had something to do with it
Newton had two 16 year old kids and 4 definite starters missing themselves. Maybe we could mention the fact there was 45 points between the sides last Season and you’re using excuses for only getting a draw with Newton , perhaps a little credit and some humility

Newton to beat Bonnyton is a strange one I’d think
Could quite easily have happened ! Decent start from the Creesiders in a battling display

Edu 20s are in the south
Think it’ll be a mixture of their U23s , occasional LL and promoted younger players as the 20s are surely in the Development League I’d assume !

Did either of the Potts or Tweedie cups run this season just finished (2018-19)?
No , due to fixture back log the previous Season 2017-18 it was agreed they would omit two of the locally contested Cups and play them on a biannual basis ! As the match cancellations fell by almost 50% last year it was decided there would be far more midweek games in the initial part of the 2019-20 campaign to combat this therefore allowing the reintroduction of all South Cups to the calendar

Aye, it's always a bit fluid down there - Edusport contested the Haig Gordon this season and QotS often have. Threave entered some 'extras' while in LL.
If many ties would be midweek perhaps Bonnyton and Edusport reserves didn't fancy the travelling being Ayrshire/Lanarkshire-based.There are plans to have quite a few midweek fixtures early in the campaign and for those with floodlights they may continue after the initial month or two ! That certainly would’ve played a part in the thinking of both Clubs undoubtedly

Thanks.
I see neither Bonnyton nor Edusport's reserves entered the Potts or Tweedie cups, and Dalbeattie are playing in the Potts Cup.My guess is Edu simply wanted competitive game time for more of their ’students’ with the size of overall squad they will have nowadays and League duty fulfils that . Perhaps Bonnyton want to concentrate on challenging for the title and Dalbeattie simply asked to play in one of the South Cups for whatever reason - possibly to give some of their younger lads valuable experience

A lad that plays for Stranraer told me possibly around 100 for the Bonnyton game and he estimated 50-60 for the match against Abbey Vale

Took in the young Annan teams game against Newton Stewart last night which Newton Stewart I think deserved to win, not a great game in terms of quality but well done to the away side for continuing their recent form, it was the standard you would expect from two teams at the lower end of the table, my concern is the incentive for the young Annan lads or maybe lack of it, I saw during the week that certain young Stranraer boys had made the first team, arguably because of lack of first team players for whatever reasons but still, do Annan give the same incentive? Because I saw a team last night of young lads that looked at times demoralised and just going through the motions, is this young Annan team a pathway to first team opportunity(none of these lads are 1st team standard)or is it there just as a tick box exercise to receive funding, a team of Annan’s size should be able to recruit a better standard of player to compete better, it looks like a team that’s just there to exsist rather than serve a purpose, back to the football which didn’t get you out of your seat but definitely a few really good players on show from both sides.
I was at this game and not sure what you were watching but the visitors could have won by a barrowload on the night had it not been for the heroics of the young Annan keeper who put in an inspired performance in my opinion. To their great credit we as a Club felt Annan put in a good shift and were unlucky with several really good chances towards the end to reduce the deficit and as for the visitors well as I mentioned , with shooting boots on could have been out of sight. Granted these teams are at the lower end of the table but we can’t all be competing for titles much as we’d like to but that was a good contest played in the right spirit with a creditable performance from the Referee into the bargain.
You need to realise Stranraer have several real quality lads in their ranks and as a team are super fit and well drilled and this is the level everyone has to aspire to at the moment ! Perhaps Annan don’t want to fill their team with non locals despite their proximity to Carlisle etc , not suggesting Stranraer do , and are simply glad to give youths in that area a chance at SOSFL level. I’ve seen the guys at Stranraer who can light up any game at this level but realistically the full team in SPL1 are night and day compared to South football and perhaps financial constraints give these very good young players a chance at League football however that’s a very difficult bridge to gap in terms of quality and consistency wouldn’t you say ? I’m glad you at least finished by saying there were a few good players on show which is realistically what local football is all about and I for one are more than happy to support

ONE of the oldest clubs in the region has been forced to drop out of the South of Scotland League just three weeks before the start of the new season.
Wigtown and Bladnoch management and committee has been trying desperately to recruit players without success.
They have notified the South League that they won’t be competing this season and also all but one of the South Cup competitions.
Wigtown have also been forced to drop out of the prestigious William Hill Scottish Cup which was drawn yesterday (MON).
Jim Brown, secretary of the club which dates back to 1880 and plays at Trammondford Park at Wigtown, said they had been unable to recruit players despite the desperate efforts of manager Micky Dougan.
He added: “Most of last year’s team have joined other clubs such as Stranraer, St Cuthbert Wanderers, Newton Stewart and junior side Maybole.
“We are hoping to play the Challenge Cup this coming season and that we can return next season. Michael tried his best but he couldn’t get them to sign.
“We want to try and build over the coming year, get started earlier and get some boys together. Basically, it’s been a domino effect for once you lose five or six players the others begin to lose heart as well.”
Wigtown have won five championships since the South of Scotland Football League was re-formed in 1946, the latest being in2014/15 when they won their first ever back to back league titles.
Last season they finished runners-up to champions Edusport Academy after leading the table for long spells.
In complete fairness any Wigtown players from what I've heard that have since signed up at St Cuthbert Wanderers and Newton Stewart bar one young lad who had already agreed the move to St Mary's only did so once it became apparent that the Trammondford side were really struggling to recruit sufficient players to have a squad as such. This might have been easier had a few others as was suggest above stayed on but it's very difficult as everyone surely appreciates to convince guys to commit their immediate futures when others are moving on and I know they tried their level best to maintan their League status.
Everyone locally truly hopes the team rebuild quickly and are involved again for the 2018/19 campaign.

25 minus 13 ! Surely you don’t need me to help you with that one and perhaps you should check how your guys are looking before tomorrow’s game at Mids in case you come unstuck again. Don’t want another we were missing Bob , Joe , James etc if things don’t go to plan
