If the distance from the six yard box to the edge of the penalty box is 36 ft and a free kick is given 5ft outside the box how can a referee justify MAKING the defending team stand on the six yard line when the distance defenders legally  have to retreat is 30 feet(10 yards) ? What am I missing?

Questioning this rather bizarre stance got one of the players sent off

But unless the SJFA's all-in approach has changed, the West Region en masse cannot join at tier 6.

If the Clubs actually decided to move what could the SJFA actually do to prevent this ?

Be a laugh if all 63 clubs apply, though....

What’s the likelihood of that in all fairness ? Very few of the Premiership sides appear to have nailed their colours to either mast !

According to the breakdown of the clubs that left a note of interest through the wosfl.co.uk domain, a SoSFL club put one in.

Its guessed at for obvious reasons that was Bonnyton Thistle. So you can see why the SoSFL were okay with the SJFA ran West Region getting in but have concerns over an idependent WoSFL. You also have to consider Caledonian Braves long term aligning with the WoSFL.

How can anyone be sure who has expressed an interest other than those who have publicly declared on Social Media ? I feel there may be many more before the deadline and perhaps if , once the final totals are known , they examine the possibility of regionalised conferences that there might be quite a few teams out there who will realise they may have missed the boat ! Exciting  times potentially

Whilst it probably is an attractive possibility surely there's nothing to be gained from moving to the West league when it remains at the same tier as the South league given that, if you are competitive, you will have a better chance of winning trophies, not to mention that  you still have a pathway into the LL if your squad are good enough.

However, in answer to the original question my feeling is, yes, the league should be pro-active in asking teams to join. I have a feeling that Bonnyton may well look at the WoSFL due to logistice so they, and the YM will have to be replaced. Rather than dilute the league it should be looking to expand as change is cominganf the  junior clubs who are looking to join the pyramid are just the tip of the Iceberg. Some other clubs will be looking for an avenue so why not ask Craigmark, Annbank and others if they fancy it?

If the South clubs don't appear to be wanting to embrace change and move with the times the SFA may take a very dim view of that and start to push it down another tier. Be careful what you wish for.

You seem intent on suggesting the South should be lowered in terms of Tier level ! The EOSFL was at its lowest ebb before the Junior influx but I don't recall the same clamour to demote them. Who’s to say when you question ambition if South sides ( with player additions who are keen to test themselves ) couldn't compete Championship / District level Junior sides if they were part of any new WOSFL ! Oh and you can’t ask teams to join any set up , they need to apply - that’s how it works in the real world

The LL wants a better west feeder and it's in the EoSFLs best interest to get the west into the pyramid as it undermines the SJFA's all-in approach. Since the PWG discussions broke down they're trying to quickly get something sorted for next season.

Assuming the SJFA continue to go all-in meaning the West Region can't join, then the pyramid options are either create a WoSFL or join the SoSFL. So even if the South might not want to support a new west league, they might need to otherwise there would be an influx of new clubs to the SoSFL.

An influx should be welcomed by the South in that eventuality and the SOSFL clearly supports placing the West Premier en masse to become the WOSFL to nullify the threat of their Licensed Clubs being either offered a potential place or expressing an interest in these new proposals - it’s not rocket science folks is it ?

  6. 2 minutes ago, FairWeatherFan said:

Do you think there are clubs that might look to apply to the WoSFL thinking it would be a better long term prospect? Threave Rovers having previously gone to the pre-pyramid EOS and then the LL and Bonnyton Thistle come to mind.

It would certainly be a more attractive and realistic possibility ! The logistics are always mentioned in the South as the main reason that promotion to the Lowland isn’t seen as a practical reward for winning the League. Possibly for the Dumfriesshire teams with closer access to the motorway and within an hour or so of both Glasgow and Edinburgh it could work but for most of the rest it’s unrealistic whereas an hours journey would take these Club to say Cumnock , Glenafton etc and for me it’s certainly a far better option

2015-16 St Cuthbert Wanderers. SFA member but not licenced. 2014-15 Wigtown & Bladnoch were not licenced. Otherwise both would of been eligible for promotion unopposed as there was no licenced EoSFL champion to have a play-off against.

I think everyone locally knows that Saints could’ve and should’ve been promoted , Wigtown were licensed the year they ‘apparently’ ran out of steam allowing Edu in the back door ! As Info stated earlier the problem lies with the geographical location and the difficulty in getting a team to say Stirling on a Wednesday night , it simply isn’t possible ! If there was a WOSFL in place with potential trips to Ayrshire that would be a completely different proposition

  8. 13 minutes ago, honestman54 said:

Oh dear.  Maybe they should be at tier 7 then as they will have no chance of winning the play offs for tier 5 as most wont be licensed and so wont be eligible for promotion.  You'll maybe lose the likes of Bonnyton then.

Considering Crichton were the only team to have won the  South in almost the last twenty years that weren't licensed  before Stranraer last season you’re argument of eligibility somewhat falls apart ! The winners might well be up against it taking on whoever wins the East for the next few years but for you to suggest that should possibly lover them to Tier 7 is laughable ! Until the Junior influx did you think the East with its 13 Clubs should’ve also have been demoted to Tier 7 ? Oh and by the way Bonnyton don’t have a Licence either

  9. Some big games this weekend that could go along way in deciding the destination of the title ! Big derby at St Mary’s and the game at Maryfield could put one of the chasing pack out of the running or maybe both teams depending on results elsewhere  !  Will games catch up on some , will points in the bag be decisive , who’s performed better than expected ?

    Predictions / thoughts ?

    Abbey Vale v Stranraer

    Bonnyton v Uppers

    Creetown v Nithsdale

    Heston v Braves

    Lochar v Newton

    Lochmaben v Mids

    Saints v Threave

Even still tho if it had been 7.15 kick off and it needed penalties it would probably have been a struggle to get them finished

7.15 start would’ve given the Officials 165 minutes in which to play 2 hours of football then any potential penalties ! Surely having three quarters of an hour in hand and even allowing for stoppages , HT and FT breaks they could easily have played the match to a conclusion. All these facilities are 10pm for floodlights so surely this needed to be taken into account , therefore the Officials should’ve started the match on time , then again for the second half with perhaps a ten minutes stoppage at the interval ! The host Club has take all the flak here for something that was completely  our with their control - they didn’t set the kick off time , they didn’t delay the start times , they couldn’t alter the floodlight timings but still all and sundry pointed the finger firmly in their direction when factors decided by other parties effectively caused this scenario. A lesson can be learned here to avoid any future repeat of the disappointing conclusion to a great match so hopefully the Executive will take these things into account when making their decision tonight

And why could they not manually override the lights...?

I’m not an electrical technician but I believe there’s a USB port in the box that requires    a laptop to be connected to alter the timer ! I may well be wrong but I’ve heard this explanation being mentioned previously therefore not permitting manual over ride but as I say I’m really not sure if that’s the case. You have to believe if it was possible to alter the timer someone surely would’ve done so to avoid the unfortunate end to the match.

  12. 3 hours ago, cmontheloknow said:

They had a  preset 10pm timeout (apparently) due insurance and H&S.

Absolutely nothing to do with Insurance or H&S ! Lights in Council 3Gs are preset to go out at 10pm as stated but the Club thought they could manually override this which they couldn’t  ! The game started at least five minutes late and the second half was 7 minutes behind schedule which wasn’t ideal but surely had the Officials kept the game on time they could’ve managed 2 hours of football in a 150 minute window ? Shame really as it was a decent game , harsh on both teams and the fans - lessons need to be learned , should’ve started at 7.15 to be safe and time keeping needed to be adhered to !

Can’t force you to believe anything and I doubt many can with the attitude you have but ok, I’ll go home and change my address where I live to Stranraer if that’s where you say I live as you know best 😂👍 I’ll get on the phone to the Stranraer coach and organise my debut for them when yous play next as I’m sure i wouldn’t have any issues playing against that newton Stewart team that’s for sure.  😄

You do that a remember to let us know which new superstar you are so we can all share the laugh hahaha TTFN

The mummy jokes are out, that says it all. Must be some laugh at Newton Stewart Football Club bar the football to laugh at.

My mob? Dunno if you can read really well but I’m not from Stranraer or do I support Stranraer. Work there few occasions and pass by to watch local football if I can just like I did Tuesday night and last night at Creetown game.

You expect us to believe you just happened to be passing Stranraer on a miserable Tuesday evening , aye right hahaha !!! I’d like to say I’ve enjoyed your less the witty repartee but I’d be lying but in the spirit of the game let us know next time your at Blairmount and we’ll make sure you get a good vantage point and a warm welcome and I’m being serious 👍🏻

Just replied because Love Island has finished now & I was bored

I’m happy if you can point out where I have quoted that we have lofty aspirations? Or just an assumption from you 🙄

We can always aim to finish higher than your team did last season I suppose 👊

I see that someone else has referred to you as a 🤡 so I will leave there 🤪

Surely there’ll be some other tedious reality nonsense for you to watch or if you’re really bored why not go and watch your team as a last resort. Aim away as the first two results suggest you’re going nowhere hahaha. I’ll refrain from any juvenile name calling

  16. 19 minutes ago, SaintMan said:

You are a clown of a man. Clear to see from anywhere you were watching on the pitch. Stick to making up proper match reports and no excuses for your team and you’ll be fine

Ooooooh very defensive my clayhole friend hahaha. The Club at least provides a report unlike your mob who rely on one of your Special Soldiers daddies very one sided and very bias version of events lol. Does your Mummy know you’ve nearly used all of our data for n this convo hahaha

  17. 7 hours ago, Billy XBoswell said:

Aye but you seem to be keeping it going for some reason, as I said, just concentrate on your own team excuses & let’s see what happens at the business end of the season .... simples

Don’t worry about our lowly wee team Billy we have no lofty aspirations and at his early stage might be best to lower yours ! Strange to say I keep it going when you constantly reply  , enjoyed the blether 👍🏻

First one defender blocks the cross and ball bounces up after he blocks and hits his hand when it’s in a complete natural position and second one his arms haven’t even moved from his side, was more half body and arm and once again arms have not moved away. Not once was the arms “raised” away from his body. Think someone needs a new pair of glasses. End of the day, yous are no where near level Stranraer are even after them losing lots of players.

ps, I don’t live in Stranraer and I’m not a Stranraer fan, just enjoy good football and don’t enjoy teams making up a false match report which did not reflect the game one bit when they got outplayed and beaten easily.

Sounds like you must’ve actually been playing to have had such a fantastic view of these incidents on a miserable evening ! Which of their defenders are you my anonymous friend hahahaha

  19. 36 minutes ago, SaintMan said:

That newton Stewart match report is even funnier than the spelling. Dunno what game they were watching. Two clear penalties and a defence splitting pass? Hahahaha. Goal game from a bad mistake from Stranraer defender and no way were they penalties. 3-1 scoreline flattered them. All Stranraer whole game

Where in Stranraer do you live my man hahaha ! Both incidents arms were raised away from the body therefore under the new rules they are penalties but we’ve grown used to mobs like yours getting the benefit of the doubt. Oh and in terms of spelling mistakes what’s a ‘Goal game?’ hahaha , those in glass houses my illiterate friend hahahaha

    It’s depleted .... ya dafty 😁

and they posted it after & not before the game

maybe a good idea for you to concentrate on your own teams excuses for the future  😉

A 16 year old kid and two goalies on the bench one of whom had to play as a makeshift midfielder against the Champions isn't an excuse but a plain and simple fact ! We knew this beforehand and haven’t the luxury of an U20 squad as you know - you guys are the ones that started this back n forth remember ! Safe journey home
