  1. I've followed Queens for a number of years now and throughout that time I've seen players arrive who were thought to be brilliant signings only to flop miserably and others that sounded poor signings become well liked so I for one am not going to judge any player util I've seen them play a few games for us. I don't know what some here expect, we are team who for the past few seasons have been going nowhere and geographically not best situated to induce signings. Perhaps MB has tried for better players but been priced out of the market. As always looking forward to the start of the new season and hoping the manager has found some gems that gel together as a team. If after few games and results are poor I will happily join the half glass empty brigade.
  2. Kyle Doherty 21 year old striker from Clyde signs a 2 year deal.
  3. Pots announced for the League cup group stage. Who do we fancy ahead of the draw tomorrow? League cup seeding pots
  4. Always like to try and stay optimistic when it comes to Queens So here goes Saturday 15th We somehow beat Dunfermline and Falkirk beat Airdrie and Kelty beat or draw Alloa Midweek Falkirk beat Edinburgh Saturday 22nd The above results would mean both Falkirk and Dunfermline still have something to play for and they play Alloa and Airdrie respectively. So if both Falkirk and Dunfermline win and we beat Montrose, then suddenly we are 3 (or 2) points clear off Alloa and only 1 point behind Airdrie who we play on the 29th.. I know it doesn't take account of Edinburgh. Simple really, now back to the asylum before they notice I'm missing.
  5. Good to see Stuart Morrison getting a start for the reserves after his injury problems this season.
  6. I vaguely remember a number of years ago a new manager taking over at a club who were by their standards going through a really poor period. In his first few games he made little difference and a number of disgruntled fans were wanting rid of him very early on, but the cub stood by him. That manager was Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Before anyone says anything I'm not suggesting Marvin Bartley is the same standard of manager, simply that it is to early to judge properly.
  7. Watching Queens v Mid Annandale. 7 0 to Queens at half time. Apologies not sure on any of the players but I think McMahon has 2 goals. Others came from No15 with 2 and No11 with a hat trick. Finished 12 1 McMahon? 2, no 11 got 5, no 15 3, and no 14 2
  8. I reckon with one game tomorrow we are 3rd best runner up. So as long as Aberdeen best Raith either outright or on pens. Thanks to Dunfermline and Queens Park losing on pens. Hope I’ve not miscalculated
  9. I see Elgin fielded a player as a sub against Ayr who was ineligible due to an outstanding one match ban. Disciplinary hearing is Thursday. Rules of the competition would mean Ayr being awarded 3 0 win. Would have suited us better the other way round but it is what it is.
  10. Thought Quitongo had a good game despite negative thoughts on here. We were pretty solid just lacked finishing touch, good performance with no East Ruth Reilly or Wilson.
  11. SD I accept your assessment that the club has plenty of funds at the moment as the balance sheet shows this. However if that is the case and money is available and yet we are bottom Of the league does that not then suggest the problem is with the manager and his choice of player?
  12. Followed Queens for over 40 years now and never seen such rubbish (and that includes the Harkness era). For such an important game Queens were awful. It must be obvious to everyone but the board that they are no longer playing for AJ.
  13. Doonhamers v Pars “the massive six pointer” you wouldn’t have known watching Queens. Followed them for forty odd years now and that today was truly awful.
  14. Was about to say bottom now but been mentioned by others. 14 points between top 5 and bottom 5. Know which mini league I would rather be involved in but not much chance of that happening with the way things are on and of the pitch. Like everyone else would like to feel angry but can’t be bothered. Looks like Ole at Man Utd will beat AJ to the job Centre queue.
  15. Last season we went on our good run when due to injuries the team picked itself and AJ couldn’t tinker with the team. As soon as he could again lo and behold we started losing again. Before the start of the league this season we had a small squad and looked reasonably decent. The bigger the squad AJ has the more he is able to arse it up by tinkering with the team. We aren’t Man City, Liverpool, etc who have stars as back up in every position. play to our strengths rather than worrying about the opposition. Oh wait we are 11 games into the season and still doesn’t know our strengths
  16. Having read previous comments regarding AJ tinkering with the team, reminds me of last season and whilst it could be argued that our good run coincided with the January transfer window I think it had more to do with a large injury list and the starting 11 picking itself for a few weeks. The run came to an end when injured players started to return and AJ was able to tinker with the team again. He almost stumbled upon the 11 and their best positions by accident rather than design. At this level it is better to concentrate on our own strengths. Imo In years gone by Our better seasons have been ones with a small core squad of 13/14 players.
  17. Absolutely agree. To the best of my recollections we didn’t boot the ball up the park. We just played a faster crisper passing game.
  18. Actually came away from the game a bit disappointed. Can’t fault any of the players but felt we were very slow through midfield. I thought Junior Soares had a good game today keeping possession well. when we played Airdrie we played one touch passes and neat triangles to open up the defence. The midfield today seemed happy to hold onto the ball taking a number of touches before often playing across the park or backwards.
  19. Two new players ahead of tomorrow’s game “Ahead of our trip to Morton tomorrow, Manager Allan Johnston has added two youngsters to the squad. Joining the club as amateurs are 22-year-old, Olly McDonald and 18-year-old Matthew Henderson. Attacking winger, Olly came through the youth system at Kilmarnock and was linked with a move to Sweden. He is the son of ex Hamilton player, Paul McDonald. While defender, Matthew spent his early career as a youth player at Rangers. He is a left sided defender who can also play in central defence. Both have been training with us since we started pre-season. Olly has been allocated squad number 23 and Matthew number 29.”
  20. I see Jones is a sub for Middlesbrough today against Fulham. Doubt he will be back on loan.
  21. Good to see AJ not going for the usual championship merry go round players but taking a chance on unknown players to this league.
  22. It’s simple when you are on the outside looking in, get some loan players in or sign some players. It’s also frustrating when you are on the outside as none if this seems to be happening. But no one except the club and AJ know the budget he has and rightly so. He may well have offered deals to numerous players which they have rejected and there comes a point when you have to decide if any increased offer is worth it. No point in offering more for the sake of it unless you believe the player will add value and keep within budget constraints.
