The old East End was a cracking stadium. Remember going to one of the first Sunday cup ties there in the mid 70s - unfortunately Queens lost 1-0 that day with John Dempster somehow clearing the crossbar from the middle of the 6 yd box. Grand day out though.
Much as it pains me, I agree with you on it being a cracking ground. The atmosphere was immense under the shed on the north side, especially in the dark where you could hear, but barely see what was on the other side.
The noise cranked up when the teams used to emerge from separate doors, rather than a tunnel, in the main stand and had to trot down the steps on to the pitch.
We actually used to win an odd game or two through there when it was like that.

My brother was at that. And still fumes at the refereeing injustices to this day.
I can't remember an awful lot about that game, other than the fact United must have won as they played Motherwell in the final.
If you want to talk about refereeing injustices, fast forward a few posts to the photo of Moyes and Watson re the 1991-92 league cup semi.

We played Dundee Utd at East End Park in 91 so maybe its just the west coast clubs that have expectations of Hampden.
League cup semi between Raith & Airdrie was at McDiarmid in 94
East End hosted the 1979/80 League Cup semi final between Dundee United and Hamilton as well.

Sad news.
A great servant to your club and fitting that you named your Main Stand after him.
His teams always played good football and produced a conveyor belt of young talent.

There's no danger we're overhauling a gap of 5 or 6 points on two of Morton, Ayr and Thistle.
Especially with Morton and Ayr having a game in hand against each other.

Nobody gives a shit, Just saying
You should ask an adult nicely if they'll take you to the game as you'll get in for free.
You can't have had many opportunities to attend a Cup Final of any sort. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Colin Steven getting wiped out was a flare worthy moment tbf.
I'm surprised none of our players took the opportunity to tread / stamp on him when he was down (accidentally, of course).

During lockdown everyone made impulse buys, for some it was easy to justify upgrading your power tool collection.
At least that Dremel would become useful sometime, alas...
There was a wee incident in Still Game involving a Dremel, although it was somewhat overshadowed in the same episode by Boabby's video.

Does that include the amount paid to Clyde, and the wages paid to Goodwillie while he was at the club?
So much money to then cause so much grief.
Not that it makes good reading whichever way you spin it, but that £105,000 termination figure probably includes James Keatings as well as Goodwillie.

A frustrating night for Rovers, and probably Ayr fans are feeling the same.
If it's not your night and nothing is quite clicking in the final third, it's just a case of make sure you don't lose the game, so in that respect, take the point and move on.

Can’t believe that you didn’t recognise one of the key players in the our 1979/80 League winning squad!
Was Scanlon part of the deal that took Peter Weir to Pittodrie?

It's the Wonga logo on the trackie bottoms that really adds the touch of class.

Steven sent an Inverness player off tonight.
Flabbergasted.
Remember him awarding a penalty at Tannadice on Christmas Eve against Craig Gordon when the poor guy was lying a heap with his leg hanging off?

Keeping the theme of players giving the 'v' on the park................
......Billy Bremner, one of 5 Scots playing for Leeds United in the 1975 European Cup Final in Paris. The others were David Stewart, Frank Gray, Peter Lorimer and Joe Jordan. Another Scot, Eddie Gray, came on as substitute in a match in which Leeds felt harshly teated by the French referee.
I recall watching on TV, and thinking Franz Beckenbauer was getting away with an awful lot of influence over the officials.
There's an absolutely brilliant series available online and on YouTube called Leeds United the Wilderness Years.
It starts with that game in Paris and charts their subsequent decline. I won't give too much away, but there's one episode of absolute gold (possibly episode where the referee is standing in the centre circle on a microphone telling fans to clear the pitch as he isn't going to abandon the game.

Raith 3-0 Ayr
I shouldn't have thought so.
The last time Rovers beat Ayr 3-0 at Stark's Park was Ally MacLeod's swansong as Ayr manager.
I think we've won 3-0 at Somerset since then, and you've dished out a few to us (twice in 2017/18 including a missed penalty).

I would reckon that could well be true, unless someone did it for Clydebank when they had consecutive promotions in the mid 1970s.
I'm sure the Pars fans nicknamed him Winker and the Rovers fans called him something very similar.
