I realise you lads are second favourites at the moment and there has been a general feeling of ill content at Starks this season but both our sides have had quite remarkable seasons that ordinarily would result in either being promoted quite comfortably.
I know you were 8 points clear at one stage but I’m still astonished that we’ve won 7 and drawn 1 of our last eight but yet still only find ourselves 3 points clear. Despite your perceived difficulties, you deserve enormous credit for still being very much in the hunt.
I’ve a feeling that next Sat might prove crucial and I’ve no idea how those fixtures will pan out, suffice to say, I hope that we’ll be playing each other 4 times in the league next season with whoever loses out on the title managing to come up through the play offs. It’d be a sickener for either to lose out.If your auntie had a pair of Dennis Laws and all that - but if we were still in the days of two up two down and no playoffs, both Rovers and Ayr would have been celebrating promotion yesterday with four games to spare.

Are you sure? I'm 99% sure Alloa v Brechin 2nd leg last year was on a Sunday? It was defo a Sunday the year before when we beat Stranraer
It was a Sunday when Cowden skelped the Pars four years ago as well, but was definitely Saturday tea time last season.
Not going to affect you though.

The same players who shat it against Brechin also had us something like 18 points clear in 4th the season before.
It cannot be underestimated how much bad coaching and some horrendous attitudes have cost us in the past 18 months.
Partly true, but the significant upturn in fortunes under Mckinnon came when we signed Connolly, Longridge, Panayiotu and Hardie.
Add James Craigen and an ever present Kevin Cuthbert into the mix and that goes a long way to explaining our ability to turn draws into narrow wins under Mckinnon.

Dundee sacked their manager when they were top of the league. I’m pretty sure there have been other examples too. Not that i’m In favour of sacking Smith.
John McCormack was sacked by Dundee in early 1998 when they were top of the league.
Jocky Scott took over - they clinched the title with games to spare at Starks Park.

Happy Gregory Tade day folks.
It got a wee mention on Sportscene tonight.
Apparently it was the last time Aberdeen lost a Scottish Cup tie at Pittodrie. And it wasn't even Scott Davie who said it.

How has Buchanan worked out for you guys? Wiz a right or wiz a rang?
He hasn't set the heather on fire, but I wouldn't blame him entirely. The quality of service from the wings has been grim all season and punting long balls from the back to him isn't the cleverest idea.

Tade got deserved credit for his goal, but among fourteen heroic performers that night, the absolute stand out was Grant Murray. Probably his finest 90 minutes in a navy blue jersey.

Even something as simple as a cafe bar, run properly, could be a money spinner.
We have a high school with over 1800 pupils within spitting distance of the ground.
I know Dunnikier golf club gets a fair bit of weekday trade from Kirkcaldy High School pupils at lunchtime and the ice rink cafe now opens on weekdays to capture the trade from the new Viewforth High School.
Hopefully there's a bit of potential trade from those playing on the astroturf at night.

I thought Project Brace was some kind of initiative to eradicate buck teeth.

Wasn't discussed at the last board meeting as as far as I am aware League 1 clubs haven't been asked for their views. I can give you my personal opinion though, a categoric NO! This is not for the benefit of Scottish football it's for the benefit of the Premiership clubs mainly the Old Firm. They do not give a flying fig about anyone or anything but themselves
Good man.
I sincerely hope the directors of my own club are of a similar mind.
This is a cynical attempt by Doncaster and his cohorts to sell games featuring Celtic and The Rangers to TV companies whose target market are armchair bigots, and it was this very reason they were allowed into the Challenge Cup. Thankfully that blew up in their faces, but expect the number of overage players to be increased next season.
Neil Doncaster's remuneration will undoubtedly contain incentives based on the amount of sponsorship and TV revenue brought into the game, whereas the number of punters going through the gates will have no bearing on it. It's therefore in his interest to get as much football onto the telly as he possibly can, even though this will be to the detriment of the game as a whole.

One of my all time Rovers heroes (and I'm not talking about Paul McStay).
Delighted he was inducted into the HoF in November.
His last competitive game for Rovers was joyous. He owned East End Park that day.

Aye, but we got to extend Jordan Thompson's loan and keep Scott Roberts. What more do people want?

Locke was just about right on that. There was no budget left. That's why we eventually ran up a near 200 grand loss.Aye, we're notorious for stuff like this. In fairness, we brought in Hendry right after the Austin deal. Last season we had a ridiculous squad size and kept bringing in players despite Locke saying there was no budget left.

Me too.
I have this on my wall in my house. Guy does good work.
Nicely framed by the guy at the front of the indoor market.0 -
You do realise that one in twenty scans get it wrong? If your offspring appears with a pair of Denis Laws he's not going to thank you for that bib in later life!
Seriously though, congratulations to you and your other half when the big day comes. By all means let them choose their politics and religion, but stands them in better stead to have their team chosen for them.0 -
Or the 7-1 tanking Falkirk gave us in 1990
The 7-1 game at Brockville was at the start of November 1990 (Connor's last game in charge).
However, we did play at Brockville on the 27th of November 1999 and lost 2-1 in what was ironically John McVeigh's last game in charge.0 -
Cheers trying our best to get rid of McGowan and co
I've no sympathy for clubs and their fans who end up the creek as a result of living way beyond their means and lording over their rivals, but when a club ends up in difficulty due to bad owners, I fully sympathise and support their fans' efforts to get rid of the bad eggs. I was thinking of coming through to the game in December, but I'll see what develops re boycotts etc. Obviously want the Rovers to hump Airdrie, but hope you're successful in getting the local consortium into power.1 -
Could yous please sign this too get these crooks out of our club???

Hall of Fame, think it’s run it’s course.
The length of queue outside the Adam Smith at 8 o'clock this morning might suggest otherwise.1 -
What ould the chances of the club or one of the support groups running a bus for this. Better still getting someone to sponsor the bus and whatever price you pay to travel goes into the development fund. Any volunteers?
Do the baby **** not play at Cappielow? The one small consolation of relegation was being spared two trips through there.0 -
Hall of Fame, think it’s run it’s course.
Still plenty of worthy potential inductees. Off the top of my head - Jimmy McEwan, Harry Colville, Chris Candlish and David Morris.0 -
Hopefully the club decided to omit the dreaded "boyhood club" clause from this new contract.
I hope so too, because I would have Vaughan over Simon Murray any day of the week.0 -
A. We don't need Laurie Ellis back.
B. We cant afford to have Laurie Ellis back
C. He did walk out on us with RM.
Agree re points A and B.
He did leave after being offered a new contract from Rovers, but it's not like the Mckinnon scenario where he was under contract.
Rovers freed Ellis twice as a player when it suited them to do so, therefore I've no problem with him leaving in the circumstances he did.
It would be nice to think he'll make a positive contribution to the Rovers at some point in the future, but as said above, you're spot on with A and B.0

You forgot about the astro pitch in Burntisland Scotty.
Councillor Neil Crooks said a town the size of Kirkcaldy merited having four astroturf pitches. Whether this means the cooncil will contribute towards the facility at Starks Park remains to be seen.
