  1. With all due respect there's no way Callahan is good enough for Hearts, or any other 'top 6' side. He'll sign a two year deal, play less than 10 games before signing for the Pars or Livi.

I'm not convinced by any means that Hearts will be top six this season.
It still sticks in my craw that clubs like Hearts can shed £20m+ of debt for the equivalent of losing five games, then within three years are spending £10m on a new stand and signing other clubs' players for cash.
The only up side to this is that if what people are suggesting is true, ie Locke is having an input into signings then further disaster will befall them before long.
  2. Anyone know the last player to score in eight consecutive games for us? Can't imagine it's too common an occurrence?

Does anyone have experience of home games attended in a wheelchair or accompanying someone in a wheelchair?
Interested in experiences re access and view of the game.
Becoming relevant for me but also saw a pic from an English game at the weekend where wheelchair view was ruined by polis!

Haven't looked it up yet, but not Dalziel, then possibly Keith Wright or Smudger in the mid 1980s.
You could possibly going as far back as Willie Penman, Francis Joyner or Norman Haywood.

  3. Already on it. She's due in January!

The point stands though. The board need to make a big effort to get younger fans in. It's not an easy task but, I'm not sure what they have really done the past few years? I haven't seen anything publicised.

Don't know how much of it was directly a board initiative, but there's lots going on with the Roary Club. They have the family day in the north stand, they get rewards and gifts for attending games and they get a birthday and Christmas card sent from the Rovers.
  4. Beware about soft loans. There's nothing soft about 850k. It's probably getting juggled about but someone somewhere owes it. We were told our loans were soft then someone new took over a bank and looked for it. Next thing we were nearly dead.
If you have a supporters meeting ask specifically who the money is owed to and why not just write it off? I smell BS

If I recall correctly, wasn't it the fact that Dunfermline used money they were due to pay in tax to finance years of extravagance and HMRC eventually took exception to this, tipping the Pars into administration?
I may be wrong, but my understanding is that we're not in any serious arrears with the tax man.
  5. Rubbish. In 1995/96 we finished well above both of the Dundee clubs. In fact, we were literally a league above both of them. Vaughan must surely realise that.
Vaughan should hold out for Spurs or someone like that.

This is slightly off topic regarding Vaughan but wanted to say something about the Raith Suite on Saturday.
I personally thought it was very decent for a 'first run'. Being able to leave the pub at 2:55, no walk, and make kick off is glorious. It's also great being in the ground having a look at memorabilia and knowing your money (which you would be spending anyway) is helping the club. Drink-wise the spirits (35ml) are well priced. I understand that not having draft beer is a draw back - however, perhaps if more people come this may be reintroduced or more varieties of canned/bottled beers etc. I really think this is one of those things that if people endeavour to come to help the club it will get better and better.
Over the course of the afternoon there must have been around 40odd people in - including a sizable group from Stranraer. Speaking the the barman he seemed to be of the opinion that doubling that would ensure the club make a wee bit cash from it. Our group has decided to go whenever we plan to have a few drinks before the game - I hope as many of you decide to get involved too. And that we as a fan base should encourage away fans to come in as much as possible. Do more people intend to give it a go?
Oh, and if anyone has any spare tele's to donate that would be class - having the football on is great, but only one tele in a large room isn't ideal. Again, these are things that will get better over time!
One last thing if anyone from the club is listening I think we should rebrand the name. To get the ball rolling I will throw out -  "the coca cola cup suite/lounge", "The Dancing in the streets suite" etc etc.

    Coutinho to Barcelona
    Dele Alli to Liverpool
    Vaughan to Spurs
    Sorted.
  6. The harsh reality is that if it is 100k (doubt it is) then that's an obscene amount of money for a player who has never had an extended run of form in his career yet.
Probably could be the difference between us going up or not. But as a club we can't realistically expect to get much more than that for one if our products from the youth department.

On the face of it 100 grand is a lot of money, but if you consider East Fife got 60 grand for Nathan Austin who had never kicked a ball above the third tier and the **** got 800 grand for Lewis Macleod who'd barely kicked a ball anywhere, then it puts it into perspective. The other factor to consider is it's unlikely to be 100 grand straight into our coffers to help ease cash flow difficulties etc. It probably includes a fee to the player, fees to agents and staged payments of the balance over a two or three year period, depending on length of contract given.
  7. The last time we were in the same league we got 700 tickets. East Fife (Willie Gray) were initially going to charge £22 (I think normal admission was either a tenner or twelve quid). However, the Rovers fans were going to boycott it and the police intervened as they didn't want hundreds of ticketless Rovers fans trying to watch the game from outside the ground.

  8. if man of the match Scott Robertson keeps putting on performances like tonite
we are going to have some season
he is a class player and will hopefully stay clear of injuries
I reckon everyone put in a performance tonite, Smith must be as happy as Larry.
well deserved. Higginbum would have had 3 yellow cards if that was a real game, fouled the whole night

In fairness, Bene would have had two yellows if it had been a competitive game as well.
  9. Newcatle against us I think as part of the Paul Sweeney transfer deal and the Newcastle centre forward banging in four goals I seem to recall.  For the life of me I can't remember his name age is a funny thing.  Beating Chealsea when they had Micky Droy at centre half who according to the press was going to be the next England centre half he was crap 3-2 for the Rovers I think.

You if anyone should remember the name of the Newcastle centre forward who scored a hat-trick's autobiography was called 'Who Ate All the Pies'.

    Mick Quinn
  10. 1900+ of a crowd at Starks tonight for a women's match that was live on haggis vision. We'll do well to get anywhere near that for most games this season!

I was speaking to a guy who works as part of the medical team at Starks Park and was on duty tonight. He told me that 5000 free tickets were dished out for the game but they were expecting a crowd of around 1500.
  11. Evening all, just incase any of you were thinking of heading through to Broadwood tomorrow (hardly the most attractive option, I know) the admission prices are £5 for adults and under 12's are free. Unfortunately, there's nothing on our website, that I could see, about a concessions gate.

Unfortunately I won't make it tomorrow but frankly can't see any reason for pensioners or over 12s to complain at a fiver. Excellent pricing and well done to Clyde.
  12. Ah well, wont have a season ticket this year so that wipes out the chance of a Bayview ticket.

Starting away to Alloa is rank, probably the least appealing game we will play and probably lose. Spence hat trick at his old club would be fantastic right enough.

I wont have a season book either so New Years game will be the first one I've missed in god knows how many years, crazy they didn't think to have that at Starks since bayview is far too small for it.

Have you never thought of infiltrating the home end? Because it's winter, you'll be wearing gloves in January so they won't notice you don't have seven fingers on each hand.
