But the box office was on the other side with Ross Taylor against Gallagher Lennon.

Taylor is a strange player. I think he's the best in the league at going by his man. He's exciting, dynamic and boy does he know how to win a foul.

But I also think he's kind of like Kalvin Orsi, albeit with attitude. Both have 1 goal and 3 assists this season, but from watching them you'd think they should be nearing double figures for both.

Anyway. Taylor got in behind a few times in the first-half which had me thinking Lennon was in for a difficult second-half.

But he was superb. He didn't let his lack of pace be exploited by someone as explosive as Taylor, routinely got the better of him to a degree that Taylor's head (as per) went. He landed a late one on him (having attempted to do it a few minutes earlier and missed) and ended up hooked. Between that and missing an absolute sitter I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy his second-half showing. He's a pantomime villain (but he'll also have a league winners medal soon. So who is the real winner?).

I think Lennon deserves a lot of credit. He’s gone from looking miles out of his depth to a dependable League 2 defender with decent potential. All whilst a shitstorm has been happening off the pitch and involved a lot of press he could’ve probably done without.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that Mark Durnan’s return to the team has coincided with Lennon’s confidence and form going up a notch with each passing week.

From those highlights it looked to me not to be a penalty. The defender had his hand up but it doesn't look like the ball hit it.

Eh? That has to be one of the clearest hand balls you will ever see in your life. He doesn’t even protest against it.

20 mins and 30 seconds into these highlights confirms it…

So, to save me any mental gymnastics can Stenny win the title at our place this weekend ?

Yup. If they draw and Peterheid lose or alternatively if Stenny win and Peterheid fail to win they clinch it.

It was either said or it wasn’t. Stupidity is a reason but not an excuse. Fair play to the club for following due process and making it public.

Correct. And no matter how loyal a fan the person or their family are shouldn’t influence things or peoples opinion on the outcome. Just because it’s no longer a police matter doesn’t mean it isn’t a club matter, especially when it involves a paid employee.

The club deserve criticism a lot of the time but they have handled this well IMO. Some of the vitriol being directed towards a certain member of staff because her name is being slandered by fans who think they run the place is a disgrace.

The fact that they've been rotten for so long is part of my point.  For the best chance of change and improvement ripping the plaster off far earlier than now with just 6 matches left made more sense? Desperate times I suppose, but Is a Lee Currie or similar going to get more our of a McGachie or Osadolor?  I cant see it, but also happy for the possible benefits for Clyde.

They probably should’ve pulled the trigger earlier but you’d imagine Horn’s remit was to keep them up, which looked more than likely until the last few weeks, despite their rotten form. He probably had a fair bit of goodwill in the bank as well given he got them here in the first place.

Either way a change now is far better than sticking with what they were doing. Bonnyrigg have a very limited squad so I’m sceptical it will make a big difference but they had to roll the dice IMO.

Unless they have someone lined up and ready to go this could be the worst decision of any team in the league this season, and yes I am including the madness that was Clyde FC last summer.

Really? Bonnyrigg have been absolutely terrible for a long time and it didn’t even remotely look like changing. They had to try something, even letting one of the senior players step up for the rest of the season is better than sticking with something that clearly isn’t working.

What’s Farrell on about saying Ruth and Gray were rubbish in the first half?! He doesn’t half come out with some absolute shite.

An absolutely bizarre take from Farrell and I have no idea why he’s chosen to single out two of our better players for criticism. It’s not like either of them had a bad first half. He says some really weird things at times.

  8. A very routine 3 points that. I’m just a bit disappointed we didn’t improve on the goal difference against a very poor Bonnyrigg side who look to be in serious trouble.

I thought the referee was terrible and his reluctance to give Ruth any decisions was completely baffling. There was one at the stand side during the latter stages of the 2nd half where Ruth was ragdolled to the ground and he just waved him up. It was one of the clearest fouls you’ll ever see. It’s not even like Ruth is a notorious diver or one of those ‘dark arts’ type of players that would have led to his reputation going against him.

Despite the refs hatred for Michael Ruth, I thought he was superb today. He is without a doubt the best striker I have seen in a Dumbarton shirt for years. He might not bang in 20 a season but he’s far too good for this level.

Interesting technique from the referee to simply ignore Michael Ruth being kicked off the park.

Apart from the penalty he has given us absolutely nothing. He made it abundantly clear in the first five minutes he was giving nothing to Ruth in particular.

We’ve been the better team but it has been a very scrappy game.

  10. Saturday will be a lottery due to the pitch.

It’s a complete embarassment and whoever signed off on fucking Kazakhstan u21s using it for training purposes is an idiot. It’s got to the stage I think the only thing that will knock any sense into our utterly useless and incompetent board is some form of disciplinary action from the SPFL, which can’t be far away given the state of the park.

I have zero interest in watching two teams attempt to play football on what has to be the worst pitch in Scottish football above amateur level and I’d imagine the majority of our support are the same. Our board are an absolute disgrace.

I'm wondering if we'll receive an updated club statement now that the police are taking no action about the alleged incident at Methil.

The club may still be conducting their own investigation?

  12. I’ll be honest, out of him, Schauffele, Clark and Harman he is by far my preferred choice of winner. I really can’t go Clark and Harman is brutal to watch with all that waggling.

edited to add: Scheffler has gained some sound points with me since he grew the beard.

“It’s on a bold line” says Davies as Scheffler hits the centre of the green about 45 feet from the pin

 Thought that myself, although tbf to her Scheffler’s reaction seemed to suggest the wind took it.
