I always find the argument of not caring about a competition after you've gone out to be quite amusing, particularly when 4,000 or so (?) of your fans turn up to watch a supposedly meaningless game and get riled by Gowser going bananas in front of them. United supporters as a group really do exhibit a number of sub-human characteristics and they really deserve our pity over anything.

Saw a dab I know leaving the Shankly stand at the end whilst mocking the c***s from the Derry. Doesn't go to Tannadice anymore but finds it in himself to go to Dens to see the big.

Looking forward to the next time I see the dirty dayglo to remind him of this.

The dabs are just a money making machine for the Dees.

2 full houses, both on tv.

Desposed of at a canter, which leads to another game in the next round with a big crowd at Dens.

Extra revenue from yet another televised game and the prize money for getting in the next round.

Has anyone else ever noticed that United fans on TV have a different sound to all other teams in the UK in the few periods where they pipe up (usually in the seconds where the wrists are sore from knitting and weathers original sharing).

The sound of the women and children yelling gives it a really unique tone. A tone that dogs can relate to. Fucking p***ks.

Yes. I like to regularly remind my dab 'friend' of this.

Didn't feel we missed Odea at all last night....
Hendry seems to be fairly commanding back there which is great to see.
The goal to lose was a bit shit. Unsure who was to blame , looked like Kerr losing his man at back post but at the end of the day who really gives a f**k? Was a good display and hopefully this puts us in a good place against Hamilton
Genuinely hope hendry dosnt get dropped on Saturday. Same 11 would be nice but can't see that being the case

I'd agree he wasn't missed as such last night cos Yenited were pish. However he'd improve the defence from last night.

    Hendry was class last night.

  4. Rumour doing the rounds that MMJ acted like a thug last night after the game. That club's a fucking horrible, disgusting club from top to bottom.

If last night wasn't the last ever derby, then the next time they darken Dens' doorstep the c**t should be banned if he can't act properly, if the rumour is true of course.

Why put Odea left back when holt is fine there ?
Liam nailed it for me in saying he is a good leader. That I can't argue with. He seems to give a toss , not many do.

Reader of the game I can't agree with. He cost us the goal against Ross County with the basic header and defending and the goal that United had scored, he didn't need to dive into the challenge.
However leadership is key. Hendry scoring 2 goals which is impressive for a defender already.
A clean sheet and win tonight please. Should be fairly straight forward against a championship team.

It's fair to say we disagree about O'Dea then. I'd move him to left back for the sole reason that Holt makes to many mistakes and until next season a defence of Kerr, Hendry, Meekings (if signed) and O'Dea is better than one with Holt in it.

The goals you mentioned, fault could easily be laid elsewhere. El Bahktoui is the worst offender at the County goal, if he stayed on the post like he's meant too the ball would've hit him and stayed out. Bain could be questioned for not taking the cross in his 6 yard box as well.

The Yenited  goal could be the fault of 2 or 3 if we're looking to pick faults.

  6. I'm going to go against the grain here but I think O'Dea is a very good player for us and is consistently in our top 2 or 3 players. Great reader of the game, good on the ball and a good organiser. I don't get the criticism of him tbh.

I think if we signed a fit Josh Meekings and paired him with Hendry that O'Dea could easily play left back and give us a strong defensive line up.

We'll miss O'Dea tonight, let's hope not too much though.

Dayglo's absolutely desperate for a bonus point shootout, leading to them having to come back and play us at Dens in the next round, to rattle us.

    Cute.

It was cute the raw emotion they showed when the 1st penalty was saved then the unbridled joy at the last one. Celebrated like they'd gained promotion from the Fundesliga.

Direct replacement, what are you talking about? You'd maybe get a full house with Rangers travelling but not the other two and I'd very much doubt anyone has bought a season ticket this year on the back of hibs returning to the league (the famous hibs vs. dundee fixture).

I never have and never will buy a season ticket because the filth down the road are in our league.  I only buy a season ticket to watch Dundee regardless what league we are in. You on the other hand appear to base your season ticket purchase on whether the city's big teams in your league or not. Personally hope the next derby is the last ever.

If I had a concern against United other than what's already been mentioned, there were a couple of instances where we just parted and allowed them to run at our CH's. We've got 3 players in midfield who are full of energy in O'Hara, McGowan and Kamara so hopefully that'll come.

I'm feeling really positive about our season, we look a lot stronger and have filled a few much needed positions. My only worry is our attacking threat, but I do reckon our midfield will chip in with a good few more than last season.

    Agreed Ludo.

    Oh for a Kane Hemmings.

I'd agree with you on this. El Bahk is a very good footballer, but he plays his football in all the wrong areas and just runs into the opposition when he does have the opportunity to do something.

It's a strange one as you just feel if it 'clicked' for him he'd make a similar impact with us as he did with Dunfermline.

It's the fact that's he rarely in the right areas to poach a goal that gets right on my thrupenny bits.

I thought there was quite a lot to be positive about.  Deacon, Kamara, Allan all showed some real class today.  I've criticised him in the past but Holt was superb today.  Some great defending and helped out with the attack on a good few occasions.

We had more possession and more shots on goal.  Really need to make the most of our chances though.

I thought Haber might have had more of an impact as a sub today, rather than El Bak.

    I'm with you regards Haber.

El Bahktoui's not good enough for me. Yeah he's got great control but he's never threatening or in the right areas.

Is this squad we have better than last season's squad for the coming season ?

    Yes, easily.

Think back to walking out of New Bayview this time last season for the answer.  Witnessing the performances of new signings like Michael Duffy had me worried about relegation from day 1
