Forfar Athletic News 2018 onwards
theSilverFox replied to Port Talbot Loons's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Like everyone else, I’m relived he’s finally gone. We’ve had managers that divided opinion but not since Hegarty has it been universal throughout the support that he wasn’t the man for the job. Now we must get behind the team and whoever is brought in to replace McKinnon regardless of whether we fancy them or not. We, the support, must play our part in achieving, firstly, survival then growth. We might get a new manager bounce or maybe not but let’s get the negativity gone with McKinnon and get behind the players and new manager. -

The social media team showing they have a wide vocabulary and aren’t afraid to use it. Good use of the English language especially as it conjured up an image in my head of Big Sheepie giving McKinnon a “Farfir runny” from the tunnel to the back door * for those unfamiliar with the term Farfir runny, it’s the act of assisting a trouble maker out of the dance hall by grabbing their collar and waist band from behind and accelerating their forward motion out the door. -

I agree as ex players haven’t worked out since Alex Rae, also no former Tannadice legends, Jerry Kerr, Henry Hall, Paul Hegarty, Ray Stewart and Ray McKinnon have all been tragic as managers (Hall and Hegarty great players for us) -

If you’re speaking about your morning constitutional I find coffee helps, if it’s anything else then you’re on your own. -

Dylan is a better player now because he doesn’t try to take on half the opposition’s team then turn around and try to do it again, he’s learned to play with his head up (Skelly needs to learn to look up too) and be a team player, something that should’ve been coached out of him before he graduated to adult football. He’s a great player who needed to mature. Sanny and Baird were better but received just as much abuse, two cracking players at this level but some expected them to be Messi and Ronaldo. -

Cameron Ferguson has been released by ICT, maybe Ray will “get the band back together”? -

I hope Rayan sees a decent amount of game time, I quite liked what I saw in his brief appearances last time. We already have a tall striker but in Rayan we now have a tall striker who has pace, energy and won’t spend the majority of the time falling about and whinging to the ref about the foul that wasn’t committed against him. Welcome back Mr Mohammed. -
Whoever he was he put in more effort and won more balls in the 10 minutes he was on than Rusty did in 80 minutes. He did, however, look a bit lightweight (though anyone looks lightweight beside Rusty and Josh ). Ten minutes is an insult to any trialist.

Forfar Athletic vs Edinburgh City

Just a wee heads-up for fans, home and away, attending tomorrow. The junction at the top of North Street/Market Street/Carseview Road will be closed all weekend. The Market Muir will be available for parking and vehicular access to Station Park will only be via Suttieside Road to the north end of Carseview Road. -
East Fife v Forfar Athletic (Sat 17 Aug)

I’ve watched the highlights and paid particular attention to the penalty incident. Whilst I agree the footage isn’t 100% conclusive that there was a connection, it is clear that Austin played for the penalty, he was dragging his leg and already on his way down before any contact was or wasn’t made. It was easier to score, there’s never a guarantee that a penalty will be converted especially against McCallum (though Marc’s head was gone at that point) so I can see the argument why would he go down but would counter that with I wonder if he was hoping that the goalie would get a red card? -

Not quite as he states Raymond knows what he’s doing and Forfar are a good team. The latter I kinda agree with, we have the potential to be a good team if we played with more purpose than just being ultra defensive. I believe that the club are not in a comfortable enough financial situation to be sacking the manager but, as was said to me by another supporter today, dropping to the Highland League would likely cost us more in the short term and a lot more in the long term as Brechin have proved that even with investment it’s still a huge ask to get out of. I went yesterday against my better judgement, I regret the time and petrol wasted and have no intention of travelling again this season unless things improve greatly. I’ll continue to use my season ticket but may consider staying at home on days of poor weather, it’s depressing enough watching just now without getting frozen or soaked. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Andy Munro on, once again, being our top scorer in the league so far
