  1. Airdrie seemed to be taking it seriously, Jobby Cup or no.
  2. Maybe but he had Gillies at right back when he started the game the week before against the same team and it didn't hinder him in the slightest imo. He was quite comfortable taking his man on then and the two of them linked up well. Based on that I was also quite disappointed he didn't make more of an impact on Saturday but, of course, these things happen with young players.
  3. He looked good at cross balls and of course did the business in the shoot out (second save was a beauty) but I think he could have done better at their goal tbh. I thought Kilday was our MOTM, following on from his fine performance at Falkirk. Great to have him back in the side. What Friday did prove is we maybe don't have the strength in depth that we think we have. I was quite disappointed with the performances of a few who didn't take their chance to impress. I know it's the least important competition by a long way but we also can't make 7 changes to the side and expect to play to our usual standard. We only starting creating once we started making subs and the main men came on. I like the look of Longstaff. Got a few tricks up his sleeve and can see him having an impact in a full strength team. Gillies did well also.
  4. You're right and that would have included decent away supports. We had a great team back then that finished the 18th best in Scottish football and reached the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup ( two years in a row) The biggest QP support I've seen in my time at a single game was the Scottish Cup tie at Parkhead in 2009 when we sold out our allocation of around 1200 (and that was also supplemented by youth teams and players' families & friends) We took around 800 to Cowdenbeath in 2000 when we won the league and 600 to Methil in 2007 when we won the play offs. I won't count the home game v Rangers in Dec 2012 as our section was full of bigots (horrible day) We've got a hell of a lot of work to do to have crowds one day that can help sustain full time football, once Haughey's funding stops.
  5. That would be the only sensible course of action should that happen (or wherever would take us )
  6. I'm happy to share the following that I remember from the meeting (others can correct me if I'm wrong) Lesser Hampden – they will now concentrate first on building the East Stand (around 1,000 seats) I walked by today and the work appears to be starting again. West Stand has become a bit more complicated due to a re-think of the plans. Got the impression they aren’t sure what to do with that now they have decided they won’t be using the farmhouse building for the dressing rooms. That building may allegedly be the oldest remaining football building in the world but I think keeping it is a hindrance to what we can develop on that side and we should be looking at knocking it down imo, sad as that might sound to some. Dressing rooms will now be under the clubhouse pavilion, which makes more sense tbh. Long term we might end up with a better ground than what was in the original plan. Social club / pavilion – will be getting a makeover and the social club will see an increase in size (think they are knocking down a wall and getting rid of the laundry room) The ambition is to have a facility that can be used every day for all sorts of events and functions, not just on match day for the punters. Glad to hear this, we fucked this up imo when we originally built the place, but that was on certain committee members (not on the committee anymore) who thought they knew better despite hardly using the previous place (which was far superior despite being a portacabin) and decided to bring in some wanky designer. Ticket pricing – there was a question asked about this, especially the lack of decent concessions . Dempster said the prices were down to her. She may have got some wrong and would review as the season progressed. It was also suggested that the pricing policy when we return to Lesser should be better in order to attract more fans, especially younger ones, from our own community. Community work and coaching – big ambitions to grow this. They want to increase the numbers of coaches and kids we have involved and are looking at various currently unused facilities across Glasgow as potential venues, not just the southside. Compared us to other organisations like Giffnock SC who currently do more than us. The women’s team is also getting more investment and resources.
  7. An impressive amount of tears & snotters from some Falkirk fans on this thread after losing to a fellow full-time club. Are we really that bad? I know we are capable of playing better football than we did on Saturday but maybe take it as a compliment that we had to resort to such nasty tactics on the day in order to defeat such exponents of the beautiful game. Some weeks you just have to grind it out. We definitely rode our luck but I thought after Keena went off we looked quite comfortable as Falkirk ran out of ideas and just put in poor cross after poor cross which Kilday and Fox gobbled up. As for the main incidents in the game, I thought it was a penalty. Clumsy challenge. Doesn’t matter how Keena went down, I’d be wanting Murray to do the same. Just after that there was an embarrassing dive to win another one which should have got a yellow. The first offside “goal” looked tight, impossible to tell from the North stand or the highlights. Not sure what Robson was up to anyway. Keena was well off at the second. Murray should have scored (nice ball from Thomson) before his free kick but that’s what you get with him. He’ll miss easier ones and bang in beauties but the great thing is every game we’re creating chances for him. The guy never stops running and is on the end of everything. I thought Gillespie was outstanding second half, seems even fitter than last season. Smith looked decent when he came on. Looks like he has pace and wants to beat his man. Very unlucky with his effort at goal, that was a superb save.
  8. Players from all clubs have been playing on many plastic pitches across Scotland for years now and we have trained on Lesser on one for years as well. 7 teams in this division play on plastic, we played on plastic half of last season and the last I heard we're keeping the plastic pitch at Lesser when we eventually move in. Why do some folk continually moan about it? Aye we all know grass is better but this is the way forward in Scotland now due to budget and climate. And I believe players get injured on grass pitches as well.
  9. Looks like he can play up front as well and can score goals. The source is a journalist who covers the Liverpool youth teams Louis Longridge and Luis Longstaff in the same line up sounds marvellous. Will believe it when I see it though
  10. It will be nowhere near sold out. We took a decent crowd by our standards to Alloa last week so I'd expect a similar amount at Falkirk
  11. He's been brilliant for us. An absolute rock at the back who reads the game so well. Given all his previous injury woes I was surprised that he hardly missed a game for us til he picked up that injury late last season. I hope he can come back from this, he's a class act on and off the pitch. His replacements have done OK but we're a better team with him in it
  12. It was only the stadium contractor stuff that they appeared to be sensitive about so plenty of other things that I don't see a problem with sharing with fellow fans. To be honest, I'm actually beyond caring about the sensitivities of certain establishment figures who weren't locked out of grounds for the whole of last season like the rest of us so leave it with me. re the lack of communication. Dempster apologised for that, said it wasn't good enough and said it would improve. We'll see.
  13. He's not any better than any of the wingers we released imo. He's tidy enough on the ball but I've been quite disappointed with his end product. He's had a couple of assists but I'm not a big fan of wingers who prefer to cut inside rather than take on their man and hit the byline. He did this once against Dumbarton and we scored from it so need to see more of this.
  14. It would be quite hard for members to "release the minutes of the meeting" considering we haven't received any minutes of the meeting. In fact, I doubt any minutes were taken as the general manager - who normally takes the minutes at more formal meetings such as an AGM - spent most of the meeting walking up and down the aisles with a mic. As for "and kept to their word", I don't recall anyone present promising to keep everything a secret. There was no NDA signed before entry. It was the usual plea from Crawley which he obviously feels he has to say to cover the club's arse should any so-called sensitive info get out. I don't recall hearing any sensitive info anyway as they wouldn't reveal the intimate details of the stadium wrangle with the contractors despite being pressed by members (one in particular) All we know is the dispute has been settled and we're moving on with the re-development with another firm ( soon to start but still no sign when I last walked past Lesser) One member suggested that meant we had to pay them off and that comment didn't get contradicted by Dempster or Crawley
  15. Stop talking utter shite. I've told plenty of fellow QP supporters - season ticket holders or otherwise - who weren't at the meeting what I thought was relevant info. I just haven't got round to posting it on here. I honestly thought somebody would have beaten me to it tbh.
  16. Aye we played half the season there, as well as training every day on one at Lesser, then Broadwood. 7 clubs in the division have artificial surfaces, good teams can adapt to any pitch, like we did last season
  17. I didn't think your tone was that harsh tbf. Being a volunteer does not make anyone exempt from constructive criticism. If that was the case then we wouldn't be able to criticise the club committee for anything. Some folk appear to be oversensitive about this but there is no need to circle the wagons. We all appreciate the good work that is done by you all. It's done because you love the club, like we all do. Most criticism comes from a good place and with the best intentions (the drivel is easy to recognise) The thing to do is take on board the valid stuff. I'm talking from experience as someone who has for decades helped in the running of QPSA. I've always found that to be the best approach. For example, when running the supporters' bus it was never ending at times but sometimes they had a point so you learn to adapt, compromise and strike a balance as you got more experienced in doing it.
  18. Oh ffs, this isn't what happened at all. Any member can trigger an EGM by trying to get the 5% required to back him or her and this is what happened here. The letter was drafted and sent before the season started so we didn't have time to approach more members personally and get more signatories on the letter. We would have but wanted something set up ASAP. All members got the invite to the meeting and I can assure you that the agenda items that we initially proposed for the EGM are all listed on that letter. We thought at the time this was a fair representation of people's major concerns going by what we read on here and across social media. If it isn't then feel free to raise others on the night (the fact it's not an EGM now means you can) The President chose to personally contact some of the signatories, we never asked him to or to deal exclusively with anyone. I believe we've secured a decent outcome here for everyone so not sure why you're throwing your toys out the pram.
