Understand the need to rotate but unless Mcginn has been exceptional in training no point putting him in as he is leaving at end of season anyway. Hogarth must be pissed off seems to be dropped after every good performance

Don't get mcginn starting at all. Both Henderson and Tait are better options to start (unless both not 100pc fit then fair enough). By all means, as we keep saying bring mcginn on second half if we are comfortable. No room for sentimentality here. That's not to say we can't play well with mcginn starting of course we can, but why change a team that's cruising this league?

Also looked to be carrying a bit of timber, but he's no longer a youngster. Tbf to Gaston he was a decent keeper in his day sadly his best days are behind him. Conceding 8 goals in your last couple of games won't help either. Which proves an earlier point about the championship being mental. Queens Park put 6 past Arbroath and then they go and beat the joint leaders after being two down.

I don't think Gaston was in goals for the 6-0 loss last week. He was very good last night keeping his side in the game with a string of great saves until they eventually turned it around and won it.

That's not to say I'd want him as our goalie, but I'd definitely want some more experience for next season.

Totally agree, what Ayr are doing looks fantastic and would look great on our east side.

I think the 3 stands we have are far superior to what Ayr are putting in. Really don't get the excitement for the Ayr thing and don't think it would blend well with our existing set up. I seem to be in the minority though!

Really a misnomer as it is "Your ambitions for your club" since these aren't always aligned but I'll let that slide ... 😉

On the field, I would like to see Falkirk back competing at the top end of the Championship and beyond.

Off the field I'd like us to be innovative around match day experience/engagement and green issues as cynically I think they're revenue generators. The social media/comms "revolution" has come-and-gone. I'd now like to see clubs like Falkirk be in the vanguard of what a new Scottish match day experience could be for future generations.

    Quite lofty goals!

Interesting point you raise about green issues. Were you thinking about anything in particular?

You're right about them being revenue generators. I believe forest green made a lot of progress in this area.

Off the top of my head they did more organic, vegan and vegetarian food. Would be good if we could generate some of our energy renewably too as starters.

The space in the main stand has been filled by the council I believe (it was theirs anyway) for office space now that the town hall has closed in the town.

I didn’t know the NS had a 1st floor? I’ve only been in there once or twice but can’t recall anything bar the catering & toilets.

Just my opinion but the stadium needs finished, personally would love a terrace (or what Ayr are doing) as it would allow standing plus larger income from hospitality etc.

The club don’t take all of the money from the corporate side on a match day with the council doing the food & taking the bar takings I believe.

It’s not an urgent job but when it can be done either by fundraising (FSS?) or through some sort of grant/sponsorship then it should be looked at. Premiership or not.

I agree. My opinion also. Having a stadium that never gets finished just doesn't sit right. Its been twenty years, we've grown organically over that twenty years stand wise, I think the timing is right now to plan (sensibly) for that 4th side per my post above

  6. I feel we need to have a plan for a 4th stand for a number of reasons.

    (1) It finishes the stadium, we've been there for twenty years it needs finished. It will create a better atmosphere (fill stand with free schoolkids, local groups etc when needed), less bleak, more sponsorship opportunities, attract players who want to play in a 4 sided stadium (I would), more facilities, more revenue

    (2) It should generate additional revenue that we don't currently have access to. We've discussed them many times but this is one of the areas that St Johnstone do so well

    (3) It should be self sustaining whatever league we are in. So at the front we have seats and/or terracing at the back/sides/corners we have the likes of a hotel, more corporate hospitality, a better media area for TV, radio, conference area, large entertainment area (eating drinking TV etc). We are perfectly positioned to attract visitors, next to the Kelpies, ever improving Helix, halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, gateway to the North, good rail and motorway links etc. We also have 5,000 souls arriving several times a month to watch football. I'd get to the game earlier if there was somewhere next to the ground we could get something decent to eat and drink. There's nothing really big and good enough at the moment which seems a crying shame. We need to be holding fans on the matchday longer like they do at the big games in England, instead of them going elsewhere

    (4) Forgive the fag packet stuff here, but if it costs say £5M to build a stand/complex (with repayments at £200K pa for 30 years - £1M of interest) with holds 2000 additional fans with the money generating infrastructure behind, IF in the top league this generates 4x filled with old firm fans alone at £20 per head (not including other spend) this would generate £160K pa not including the likes of Hearts and Hibs North stand over spill. Also doesn't include naming rights for the stand, rent for businesses mentioned above, sponsorship, crowdfunding etc etc

    (5) Should still work well with concerts

    (6) Better flexibility around ticketing especially in top league - I remember sitting next to Rangers fans in the Main Stand, not something I want to do again. 2 stands for home fans (Main and South) so 6,000 seats and 2 stands for away (in top league) holding 4,000 seems reasonable to me. We have more fans than the likes of St Johnstone who also have a 10,000 seater.

Could go on but you get the gist. I wouldn't want to see us get into trouble financially over this but I don't see why we shouldn't have  a plan to get there at some point in the near future. Done right the additional revenues should mitigate the financial risk involved, and if we do have ambitions to compete at the upper end of Scottish football then why not?

Indeed. That was the spark that ignited where we are now (not just top of the league, but fam ownership et al)

With the usual disclaimer that Arse Cheek fans are exempt from this sentiment, I don't like to see Football fans being taken for mugs, and really enjoy to see them flex their muscles when the chips are really down.

Unfortunately, the further down the leagues you get, the less you can afford the inevitable loss of fans to apathy before reaching the point of enough is enough and taking action.

Way too many in charge of football clubs take the hard earned gate money of fans for granted, and the worst of them start firing the blame our way when the well runs dry.

Agree with all of this. In addition due to the ability for "outsiders" to be able to watch that 1 hour 44 minute train crash of a  meeting, the Press really ran with how badly we the fans were being treated, so it couldn't just be "sanitised" and swept under the carpet - I think the press and media involvement really helped

I don’t think so. A nice sanitised, summary of events will be posted on the official website later in the week. All sunshine and roses.

Pity because our infamous "statement not a question" night with the Board and fans has been watched 30,000 times and was a catalyst in change for the better

  9. With 5 years in the seaside leagues we have famously been punching way below our weight. Thankfully this now seems to be our last season in tier 3 (for a while anyway).

Given our stadium, new 4G pitch, facilities, support, improving infrastructure, history etc I'd like to see us consistently playing in the top league challenging for the odd Scottish and League Cup and potentially Europe (as we have in the past).

Our youth set up has some way to go to get back to the way and reputation it used to have, however, now we are fan run and have decent people at the top of the club with a plan I'm optimistic, after years of worry, about the direction we are taking.

Edited to add - we'd also like to build an East Stand and get the stadium finally finished and enclosed on all sides. This would also give us more flexibility (and revenue) with larger crowds.

Didn't Edinburgh beat Hamilton at NDP earlier in the season?

Anyway, I've got my tickets for the Edinburgh game on 23rd March. My son's pal is a mascot that day so hoping there's a right good party atmosphere that day

They drew 1-1 in October at NDP. It's a different Edinburgh City now that the squad has been pillaged. That aside it wouldn't surprise me whatever the result.

I was actually (sadly) looking at this earlier. I think you will win it either Edinburgh or QOTS game. Do you think Falkirk fans will still travel in big numbers for the remaining games once you win the league?

I do. Fans been waiting a while to watch a decent entertaining team that we like, in addition there may still be this unbeaten/invincible thing running all going well.

  12. Based on their first 26 games of the season at a points per game ratio of 1.88 (their form is much worse over more recent games), Hamilton will now finish around the 68 point mark.

If we beat Annan on Saturday we will be on 68 points. Theoretically if we win on Saturday we probably wouldn't need to play our last 10 games and still win the league.

In reality, I still think it is most likely to be around the end of March we can officially win this, probably around the home to Edinburgh game on the 23rd, obviously depends on results for both sides between now and then. As an example, despite their poor form I can't see Hamilton losing to Edinburgh at home on the 9th March and we have some tricky away ties in March so I think all things being equal it will be late March, but you never know.

a first for me tonight, off to see the Beanos v Accies. sometime's I'm a glutton for others misery.

given it's proximity to me I thought about going as well, however, the heating on and a film has won over.

Enjoy the game, look forward to some unbiased updates!

  14. This is a really hard one to call. Stirling's home form not too bad over past 5 or 6 games and Accies away form not been great and their recent matches have been poor. Wouldn't be surprised with any result here to be honest. Hoping for a Stirling win.

Noticed that Accies have only sold about 100 east stand tickets for tonight's game, and Falkirk have sold multiples x this for the same stand for our game at your ground in 2 weeks time (you know how much we like our crowd chat). We'll sell out the stand and terracing again I would expect.

You make a very good point regarding the necessity to avoid increasing the payroll. Your summary of the situation is exactly the same as mine. Gardening leave and then appoint someone till the end of the season.

Appreciate this isn't my club but I tend to agree with this viewpoint and have for some time.

There must be someone on the existing payroll that at very least couldn't do any worse and is very likely to do better. Look at Alloa. Similar ish situation (although I think they might actually have been doing better than Queens?) Andy Graham replaced Brian Rice and their results and atmosphere around the club and fanbase has been terrific ever since, looking like a comfortable play off position now.

Bartley has been a bombscare since very very early on. The post match interviews tell you all you need to know, he's not seeing games like pretty much everyone else (or is and isn't wanting to call it as it is), I'd bet his players don't respect him, why would you, calling them out every week and pretty much treating us all like idiots with his b*llshit summaries of what happened.

Appreciate the contract and money is a hurdle, but staying as is is worse IMO. As a couple of the guys have said here put him on gardening leave and get someone on the existing payroll to take over, there must be a coach or player that is respected enough. The record Bartley has for a full time team in the 3rd tier is awful - pretty much averaging 1 point per game and if Stirling get as much as a point tonight, sitting one place above the relegation play offs.

These were my photo's taken from the home end on an old fashioned camera (remember those?). The ground was so busy we couldn't get in the away end. We were joined by hundreds if not thousands of Falkirk fans in the home end (not pictured here). That was a nervy, hot day, we were right behind the goals at this end and remember a few shots bobbling along the rock hard ground in front of us with our hearts in our mouths. What a day that was.

For the mathematicians who are alcohol free, what game can we officially get the trophy

Hamilton are projected to finish on 69 points (based on 1.92 points per game). We are currently on 65 points, so given our superior goal difference we'd need just 1 win and 1 draw from our last 11 games to surpass that. The only way I see Hamilton's points per game ratio improving greatly is with a change of manager.

The way McGlynn seems to be looking at it is that we have a 17 point and significant goal difference advantage so effectively 18 point lead, or as he says a 6 game swing, with only 11 games left.

If we continue to win an average of 2.6 points per game and Hamilton continue at 1.92 (their form is dropping as the season progresses) we'd win the league in approximately 5 games time - so 23rd March against Edinburgh at home. (2.6 points per game equates to 4 wins and 1 draw for us in next 5 games, 1.96 points per game for Accies equates approx to 3 wins and 2 losses, or 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss)

It is possible we could win the league on one of the 2 televised games away to Queens on the 16th March or away to Montrose on the 30th March. We have some tricky away fixtures in March (4 of them!) so it might drag into April, but the league could well be done in March!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Hamilton may struggle to ever get out of this league.  No fans means no income…

Second in the league and only 745 fans at their game today. Unless they have sell ons from players already left they could be in trouble

  19. That's quite a few changes. Morrison I'm guessing is the key injured player. Henderson nesbitt yeats on the bench too. So 4 key players not starting

    Hogarth

    Bisland Lang Donaldson mcann

    Spencer Tait

    Oliver

    Agyeman MacIver miller

Would be my guess in formation. Interesting to see how this goes. Wed tended to not perform just as well when the starting eleven is changed. Really like Tait but think we will miss Henderson

  20. 2 minutes ago, Numbers_One_To_Eleven said:

Yep, I think having ariel prowess in the middle of the park is so important, aswell as physicality of course. It’s like when big Neil Duffy was in there, it helps the team so much.

I'd forgotten about Neil Duffy, really liked him and you are absolutely right, very similar in terms of what they bring to the team Hendo and Duffy. Midfield enforcer type that allows others to play

  21. 24 minutes ago, MrDust said:

He also said we have the squad to accommodate the injury which I agree with

The only area that would slightly concern me if its one of the centre halves

We do indeed, however the one I'd least want to lose outside Morrison is Henderson.

Last time he was out we drew at Montrose. His physicality is a big miss. I really like Tait but he's not got the physicality and aerial prowess Henderson has.

We should still have enough as you say to take the three points hete
