  1. For us, there's been surprisingly little in the way of crowd self gratification going on....so for those interested...

....with 2 hours till kick off we have only 320 tickets left to sell in the main stand and we have sold 125 tickets so far in the North Stand. if we assume 6,000 tickets available in the South and Main stands then that means we have sold (concessions etc aside) in total from all 3 stands approx 5,805 home seats, this doesn't include the next two hours sales, including PATG in the North Stand and any Edinburgh fans (say 50?). So long story short looking like a crowd of around 6,000.

The Hamilton game was 5,756 so should beat that allowing for any seats not included (comps/school freebies etc?).

Outside of Dundee United v Inverness that will comfortably be the highest attendance in Scotland today with no top league games on.

    Enjoy the game!

Yep, went fine. Interesting presentation from the SMISA guy - our fan ownership journey has a lot of similarities and we aren’t far away from them in that respect. Membership numbers still edging up - 885 I think I heard. Nearly at 25.2% shareholding. Lots of ideas for engaging young fans (working with JB) and fans overseas.

Nigel confirmed we were on the third biggest budget in L1 this season. And mentioned a very frank video from the Morton finance guy which is worth watching.

Thanks @StuartAthat short presentation is definitely worth a watch lots of very illuminating info and points in a 10 minute pitch.

Just a brief scan of stats, but it looks like Falkirk have been in the top division for about a dozen seasons of the fifty or so since the Seventies reconstruction, with almost as many spent in the lower tier(s).

I really can't think of a more established second-tier club in Scotland, with brief stints going either way. Maybe Morton.

It's been 11 seasons in the top flight for Falkirk since the mid to late 80's. I think outside the top 6 big clubs in Scotland every other club has spent a lot of seasons outside of the top flight, so in terms of the other 6 places, it's very much fair game for quite a lot of clubs.

Even the likes of Hearts, Dundee Utd, Hibs etc have spent time outside the top flight. There's probably about 12-18 clubs with realistic ambitions to fill those 6 places in the top flight.

It's not like Falkirk didn't also benefit as a result of those rules.  Should have been relegated in 2002 but survived due to the death of Airdrieonians as a result of building a compliant stadium that they could not afford.

That's very true, however, we lost out more on these "new rules" than we gained. And don't get me started on the covid season...

The recent debate on plastic pitches feels like another of these "new rules" could be on the cards.

Delusional. How about getting to the Championship and staying there.

Hardly delusional, it's not like we've never been there, we've spent a third of my adult life in the top league. It would have been far more if it hadn't been for self preserving stadium criteria, under soil heating and so on.

In terms of the Championship, we are there, and with the squad we have built will likely do well next year.

This whole thread is about ambition, to want to aspire to the top league when we've been there quite a bit historically is not a stretch. I'd argue we are in a much much better place now than we were then it's perfectly achievable and not in any way delusional. Delusional would be winning the top league.

How much is not a lot of room?

With promotion all-but over the line, McGlynn revealed that the current squad won’t look too different come the start of the next campaign, with continuity key.

“I don’t think we’ll have a lot of room for bringing in new faces, I don’t think the budget will stretch that far,” he admitted. “But we will have a lot of continuity. It is what it is. “We have an amazing dressing room, the guys all get on like a house on fire.

Continuity and the camaraderie within the squad (and fans!) is very important. I'd rather we did this and added one or two quality additions (experienced keeper and CF) than were searching for half a team. I'm very happy with this and the way McGlynn has gone about his business with the contract extensions. I like every player in our squad and think they all deserve a shot at the league above, they've earned it. I think with the existing squad we will be comfortably safe next season and challenging for the promotion play off spots. We can always strengthen in January once we have a feel for the league and where we sit in it.

The Tom Lang injury might throw a slight spanner in the works in terms of recruitment if he isn't fit for the new season.

It's all very positive though looking forward to next season which is not something you can often say.

Is this something new? In the past we seemed to be able to secure some good loan players under SP. I can understand why bigger clubs are not doing this for us out of the kindness of their own hearts and would be looking for as big on a contribution from the loan club as possible. I do wonder however about the point of loaning out a player to say the likes of Falkirk, who already have a sizable squad. If the idea is to give the loan player game time, would they not be better off at a club where that is more likely to happen? What is the point of loaning out a player, just for him to sit on a bench?

Then again, perhaps SP is not willing to guarantee loan players game time if they aren't demonstrably going to be a benefit to the team.

If it is just a case of the bigger clubs getting as much money as they can for their on loan players, then allowing loan players seems to be something far more likely to hurt part-time teams than help them because it just compounds the "rich get richer" aspect of the game.

It would be great if we had a ruling body that didn't seem content to allow a "greed is good" philosophy to dominate the game. If it actually looked at what is good for growing the game in Scotland, rather than being the lap dog of the usual vested interests.

Not sure that's entirely fair Brummo. Falkirk's 3 loan players (in) are pretty much playing in every game - Long (Lincoln), Ross (Raith) and Tait (Hibs). Nowadays, with 5 subs, most players spend some time on the bench, whether it be at the start or end of a game. These 3 loan players are getting very regular game time at Falkirk.

I think it'll be this weekend, Cove need to pick up points as otherwise Montrose/Alloa will pip them to the playoff spots.

Cove won the last home game against them 1-0 in November and the other two matches have been close.

Agree with this, given Cove need the points for the play offs, Fyvie is fit again, Burrell hasnt scored recently and will want to finish above CM as top scorer, and they are at home, I think they'll likely take something from Hamilton. Failing that and Hamilton win (assuming we win at home to Edinburgh) it'll be next week against Montrose.

Interesting that the stats from weeks ago predicted it would be Edinburgh at home or Montrose away, based on points per game averages to that point, and it looks like being that way.

Martindale has already been on media more or less saying that the existing finances are not good. Would imagine that any drop down payment wouldn’t backfill their current issues. No expert on their finances but would imagine the big four filling 75% of their stadium (stadium that doesn’t cost them much if I remember)significantly helps their budgets. A drop into the championship would see a huge reduction with away fans attending.

Fair points, possibly also saddled with existing high paid players unless either side has an exit clause if relegated

  10. Too close to call this. One thing I would say about Stirling is that in the final quarter they've already played both Falkirk and Hamilton.

All four sides have some decent players. Annans form is best of the four but they still have points to catch up .

Of the managers Marvin Bartley definitely getting the worst out of his squad and that might be a factor (only 1 win in ten is a horrific stat).

I think a lot of it might come down to timing when each team plays others ie if teams rest players for promotion play offs or the likes of cove are in mid table with nothing to play for, Falkirk have won the league, Edinburgh already down etc

    It's going to be interesting

Figures from 2019, but doubt it looks much different now. Not huge differences between league 2 and league 1 prize money. Coming 4th in the champ however you’re already trebling this season’s prize money. Should help a bit with the hole we always have to fill

    D9D01FDD-ABD6-4969-A000-215F04CC7F90.jpeg

Appreciate these figures are 5 years old, but if the figures are relatively speaking the same, then Livvi coming down, will get 10x what we will receive going up in prize money. That "should", all things being equal, make them very competitive next season in the Championship

  12. Appreciate Sandra is an employee but can't she ask basic questions queens fans will want to know answers to, such as "Falkirk seemed to continually exploit our high line, can you explain the thinking behind that and why it wasn't changed?"

These interviews are awful and have been all season. To talk about "it's all about learning and hard work" when you are 29 games into a 36 game season must be soul destroying.

Yet again watching a completely different game to everyone else, lots of flowery repeated phrases with little substance.

Hendersons goal celebration was great, love to see somebody so happy to score ,only rivalled  in my time watching Falkirk by Richie Cadette in showing so much unbridled joy at scoring. His goal was from the same range as most of Richies as well.

Love hendo definitely my player of the season. If the whole team don't get it, which I'd also be happy with
