Pizza Goalkeeper looked assured but had little to do. Leslie came on second half and created the chance for the equaliser. Looks promising. Elgin dominated the game apart from 20 mins in the second half. Bonnyrigg were stuffy but never really threatened apart for the goal. Elgin’s final pass or cross let them down time and again. But there is something different about this Elgin team and the subs played a vital part. Another big game against Spartans on Tuesday night with the chance to go 2nd. Will need to improve on final pass. Draper was outstanding today and fully deserved the man of the match award

Back home at long last. 2 home games within 3 days. 6 points would be nice but we need to start scoring. Hopefully Golding will score. I feel winning these games is important for confidence and momentum. Come on Elgin. I am surprised Macleman is not getting a start as he does score goals. Perhaps too similar to Gallagher.

Agree with 1993. I feel we need at least 1 strong midfielder who can also dictate play. Easier said than done -

Re Gordon 9736. yes I have one too. The club have also posted on Facebook that season tickets are ordered through Fanbase and I have ordered mine -
Congrats to Elgin and their manager Allan Hale and assistant Stefan. Few City fans back in December thought we could avoid being bottom and the turnaround has been remarkable. Attendances are up considerably. Many thanks also to our loan players all of whom made a substantial contribution to our improvement. It would be great if we could sign them all permanently. On today’s game I thought Draper was outstanding as were Bray, Ewen,Booth and Golding among others. We are down to the bare bones for the last 2 games but hopefully we can beat Clyde in the final home game scoring 3 goals for the first time this season. It will be interesting to see if Hale can attract good north players for next season. He is ambitious and will be looking for players with similar aspirations. Finally it has been great to enjoy the last few months at Borough Briggs

I was confident until I heard Dolanski misses the next two games and Cairns is out. We will be short defensively but hopefully we can get 3 points and cement our position in the division for next year

Elgin City v The Spartans (06/04/2024)

A draw about right. We were poor in the first half with no out ball and we were all saying Taylor has to come on to inject some pace. Credit to the manager for changing it at half time. Delighted to see Macleman playing and scoring a fantastic individual goal. Not safe yet and injuries are piling up. Once again Dolanski was excellent at the back. -
If Golding is out for the rest of the season we will struggle to create chances. We need to get one more win but it will not be easy without him. Hope the manager plays Macleman who proved earlier in the season he could score goals. Tough game against the Spartans this week. Hope Clyde draw and Bonnyrigg lose which will give us a cushion. Still think the last home game against Clyde may be crucial.

On seeing that Golding was absent and Jones was playing I felt a point would be good. Golding has great movement and creates opportunities for others. Hopefully he will be available for next week as our record at East Fife is poor. We improved when Jones came off as Bray installed some much needed pace . Booth is a real find. Forfar were stuffy but apart from the goal which should have been better defended they created nothing and with a wee bit of luck we could have snatched a winner. 6 games to go and 1 or perhaps 2 wins should be enough
-
Another win would go a long way to securing safety and it is still tight at the bottom. It would be nice to score 3 goals in a match but Forfar are difficult to break down. The movement of Golding up front has made a big difference even though he is not a prolific scorer. If he was he would be playing at a higher level.Booth at left back has been a great signing and Gallacher is a talented footballer. Surprised Macleman has not been given more game time since he did score goals for us but perhaps he is a too similar player to the other midfielders and is being kept for next season. Hopefully 3 points on Saturday and we can then relax a little

Agree on the comments about Ross Draper. Elgin look a solid side now and Tuesday night will I think determine how our season goes. A win on the road would boost confidence no end.
-
I agreeBooth looks a good player but he failed to get close enough to his opponent allowing him to cross on 3 occasions one of which led to the goal. He must improve on that aspect of his game and hopefully Allan Hale saw it. Overall, however, we look a much better team. Even if we finish bottom I am more confident now of winning a playoff which was not the case 2 months ago

Elgin v Stranraer 06/01/2024

I may be wrong but I think this is the first time Elgin have come from behind to win a league game since March 2021! -
I assume the pitch covers are not down. If not why not? They cost a lot of money but are rarely used. Clarification from the club on this would be useful.

Elgin City vs East Fife 26/08

First visit this season and was encouraged by the football played in the first half. Reverted to type for most of the second lying too deep and hitting long aimless balls. Thought Draper was excellent but disappointed in Macleman who was caught in possession too often and slow on the ball. Cooney is slow which cost us an unnecessary penalty. Wins may help the confidence of the team but scoring goals will be an issue as a complete lack of creativity in midfield other than for our goal. The standard in the division will I suspect be poor. We are a very young side and hopefully we will improve as the players adjust to this level
