  1. Out of what I would regard as our "proper first team" squad, that leaves us with Kusunga, Deacon, Wighton & Spence for the bench, along with the young strikers, whichever of the "2 decisions" mentioned above doesn't make the team and assorted other youngsters (Lambert, Jeffries etc) . Still need at least one more striker (possibly Croatian, I hear they are doing well this year ) and full back cover, plus possibly midfield creativity, depending on how well Rocket-Man does. Just hope he's got something up his sleeve...
  2. Will anyone remind him of exactly how many derbies he has won as a manager, do you think????
  3. Someone on twitter giving me false hope by tweeting a picture of gorgeous greig in a Dundee top and the signing emoji thing... swine!!!
  4. I was literally the only Dundee fan in my primary school class. Being born, erm, sometime before the 1980s started, I spent all of my formative years with us being in "their" shadow. Spent years enduring their successful period and getting all the shite that went with it. Would so love a cup win and another few years at least being in the division above them. Would make all that crap worthwhile. Definitely need al least one goal-scoring striker, full back cover and midfield creativity, mind...
  5. IMHO, if McCann does let Haber go, without bringing someone else in, and leaves us with just Moussa and Mandy as first team out and out strikers, albeit with Henvey and Wighton as well, that's a serious dereliction of duty. He surely must realise we need extra firepower?? Maybe all the money being saved on wages etc means going back in for that guy from Orient whose names escapes me at the moment. Fingers crossed...
  6. The official preview for tomorrow lists the previous meetings and says that we won a friendly match in 1992 9-1, with one of our goals being scored by someone called "Tannock". This doesn't ring any bells at all, don't remember anyone with that name playing for us, and a quick google didn't help. All I can think of is: a trialist, a youth player who never made the first team, an own goal without the "og" on the match report or dementia on my part. Any other ideas???
  7. Hopefully the club have made it crystal clear to him that he has run out of chances. Anything else of a similar nature whilst employed by the club and he can do one immediately. I presume that breaching the conditions of his order would mean jail (not 100% sure, but seems logical), so we should be telling him that if he's found to be drinking in a pub for the remainder of his contract, he's out. Seems like he just needs someone to remind that he's got lucky a few times and next time won't be the same. Anyway, on to the match against the Pars on Sunday, and, no doubt, a live TV classic. Are we allowed to insist that, under the terms of his loan, Vincent has to to play against us??
  8. Remember last season when the DABS were adamant that we lost the game against them, as they won the shootout??? Wonder if that's still the case??
  9. So, first competitive game tomorrow. My thoughts before we start (and without haven seen any of the pre-season games, either in person or highlights): Only player that has left that I really wanted to keep was O'Hara. If Haber does leave, I think that'll be a shame, if only he could re-capture the form he showed in the first 6 months he was here. I believe that at least one of Mendy, Elton and Kharl will have a Kamara/Stewart-type impact this season. Kamara or Caulker will leave at the end of the summer window, the other one in January. We will sign at least two more players before the window closes, one will be another great find, one will be mince. Moussa will improve, Wighton will finally make a big impression (DAB relegating notwithstanding). Kusunga will step up big time. We will have a decent season all in all. Every single thing we do will be done in the most difficult way possible...
  10. I was a bit disappointed with the tribute on the BBC Sport Scotland page - it was obviously just the one from the main site, as it was clearly Spurs-focussed (and for the UK as a whole, that is probably fair, taking the relative sizes of the clubs' support/profile etc), but it wouldn't have taken much to flip it to a Dundee/Scotland-centric article, maybe even a quote or two???
  11. Reports today said that had left Tynecastle without being offered a deal...
  12. Absolutely gutted to hear about Gillie. My biggest regret in football is that I'm too young to have seen our title winning team, especially Gillie, in the flesh. Thoughts and condolences to all his family and friends. Any chance of getting spurs to play a benefit match either pre season or during a free weekend??
  13. Naw, just the usual "they are interested as several English clubs haven't made a bid yet, so are trying to get ahead in the queue" type stuff.
  14. Guardian gossip column has Celta Vigo in for Caulker...
  15. Adil Nabi, a striker is one of the new guys. The other is called Frank Jones, according to a Cowdenbeath team sheet...
  16. A striker!!!! His scoring record for us this season coming will be one of two things: Moussa mark 2 Hemmings mark 2 Heres hoping...
  17. Vincent, Wolters and O'Dea on permanent deals and Ferrie and Henvey/Scott on loan for experience?? Would be ideal...
  18. Not getting the people placing Hibs in 2nd, feel they will do a little worse than this season. Without seeing who else signs, I would go for: 1. Green Bigot Brothers 2. Aberdeen 3. Blue Bigot Brothers 4. Hibs 5. Kilmarnock 6. Hearts 7. Motherwell 8. Dundee 9. Fermers 10. St Mirren 11. Hamilton 12. Livingston Ross County to win the Championship by about 10 points. Hamilton to, once again, confound everyone by winning the playoff against the DABS (hilarious in its own way). Stevie G to last until about November before moving to a struggling English Premier side.
  19. I'm not sure where he's from, I was just meaning that moving to St Mirren would probably mean living in/near Paisley. (According to the ever reliable Wikipedia, he's from Barrhead, in Renfrewshire...)
  20. Sorry - having trouble in believing that someone would want to live in, or near, Paisley!!!
  21. Would be very disappointed of O'Hara ends up in Paisley next season, as this would mean either a) we valued him less than the Buddies (with regards to contract terms etc) b) we were out-bid by them or c) he thought it was a step up in his career. With a bit of coaching, I'm convinced he could be a great player for us - if he can develop a bit more consistency and put in the kind of performance he usually reserves for when the blue bigots come to Dens on a regular basis, then he would be a definite asset.
