So Watt is on for game in 90 minutes for a 1-1 draw against the second bottom league team at Tannadice and you're wankfastic for you're future.

Do you ever wonder why Celtic fecked him off.

Sandy.  For the avoidance of any doubt, I’m not a United fan*

    * I don’t usually care what people think about me but I’ve got to draw the line somewhere.

I should have attached the following to my original post:

What do you see in McIntyre that means you think he deserves more time?

Our record so far in 2024:

    P12 W1 D3 L8 F7 A32

No matter the excuses re injuries, fitness etc that is an abject record. 7 goals in 12 games and 32 conceded ffs when we’re supposed to be fighting for survival.

As I said earlier, going down with a whimper.

It was only the end of January you were advocating he be given time to have a fully fit squad before talking about whether he should go.  I genuinely don’t know, so can I ask how long he has had a fully fit squad for now?

How many are contracted for next season?

Regardless of how many are or are not contracted next season, United fans will be relieved to know that at least vice captain Watt is still contracted for next season.  Very important to get your leaders on the pitch right…….

Pensions aren't usually included as part of the taxable estate.

Sorry, I was meaning if, as many people do, you commute 1/4 of your pension at time of retirement for a lump sum payment.

So roughly the wealthiest 10%. In my world that means rich.

Not wishing to sound pedantic but it’s closer to 12.5%.  Maybe even higher as the figures are from 8 years ago.  I can only assume wage and wealth inflation would have increased the number.

In other words 1 in every 8 homes in the UK.  These are not my figures by the way.  I am just highlighting research.

ETA I think it may best for me to stress I’m pretty sure it’s not 1 in 8 homes in my street!

When will Stately Wayne Manor be yours anyway?

🤣 That goes to the oldest brother…….

Just saying in another post it was reckoned 8 years ago that over 3 million households in the UK had wealth of over £1M.

  7. 19 minutes ago, welshbairn said:

And what percentile of the population have that amount of wealth, would you say?

Last figures I am aware of was in 2016 when it was reckoned that 3.6 million households in the UK had total wealth of over £1M.

Remember it’s not saying £1M sitting in the bank but all assets.  So, any engagement rings, bracelets, watches, cars, pensions, life policies, etc all form part of that.

    Lol wut

At its very basic, the inheritance tax threshold for a couple is £325,000 each with £350,000 between them for their home.  Unless I’m missing something.

The law is pretty stupid when it comes to inheritance. It should be perfectly acceptable to cut a kid/grandkid out of the will on the account of them being a c**t.

As far as inheritance goes, I’m conflicted as I’ll probably benefit fairly well out of it. My wife is an only child so that side is covered and with my folks, everything goes to me and my brother (there will be no conflicts there). That said, I’ve no issue with inheritance tax, but there’s so many loopholes that very few people end up actually paying anything anyway.

As I’m now the proud owner of a child, I’d imagine my kid will be pretty much sorted when I eventually kick the bucket.

Correct.  You will regularly hear people argue that only the top 4% of estates have to pay inheritance tax.  What people do not understand is the top 4% of estates is completely different from saying only the richest 4% pay inheritance tax.

When the richest people die they will more than likely have all their affairs neatly sorted out with the aid of expensive accountants and lawyers and as such will not have to pay inheritance tax.  The 4% referred to are generally the people who are unaware of inheritance tax, made bad choices, don’t care or simply just cross the line of paying inheritance tax.

Also, people make out you have to be rich to pay inheritance tax.  Putting it very simplistically, a married couple have a limit of £1,000,000.  Not exactly a fortune these days.

  10. There was an article in the financial press not so long ago where a husband and wife had two children each as a result of previous marriages.  They had their wills written in such a way that when one died all their assets would be passed to the surviving spouse.  Once the surviving spouse died the assets would be split between the four children.

Sounds quite reasonable.  Only when the husband died the wife subsequently changed her will so that all assets were passed to her two children only.

I’m only highlighting this in case any posters on here find themselves in a similar situation.

  11. Rangers were complaining that they were not given prior notice by Dundee that there may be a problem with the pitch.  I’m just wondering what practical significant difference that would have made to the team.

It would appear travelling the 80 miles or so from Glasgow cannot be done on the same day as the match so they would have still had to stay overnight in St Andrews as the pitch was presumably thought to be playable before the heavy overnight rain.

It seems a pitch inspection earlier in the morning would at best have saved them a journey from St Andrews.

It’s kinda funny how much worse united are than dundee at the minute. Would anyone from the united team even get into the dundee one

It would be a struggle for almost all United players to get into the Dundee team.  On the other hand several of our subs against Aberdeen would walk into the United team.  That’s not even me trying to wind up the United fans.  I’m being completely genuine in my assessment.

I don't so much have a problem with Goodwin picking the wrong team as  much as I do with him sticking with the wrong team until halftime when he'll have seen from the 20 minute mark that it wasn't working, and then coming out after the game to state that the game was lost in the first 45 minutes.

Ogren is facing a dilemma which is that he wants to sell, and the price he'll get for it will be based on the division we're playing football in next season. He has a manager who has delivered him 2nd place minimum at this point, but who has shown he can't field a winning team when it's a high stakes match.

So does he a) stick with it and hope Goodwin will somehow get us automatic promotion, knowing that if he doesn't, the high likelihood is we'll lose the playoff or b) make that change and hope a better motivator could at least get us over the line in the playoffs?

Seeing as there are so many ex Dundee players involved with Dunfermline I thought I’d come in here to enjoy their win.  Unfortunately I find myself agreeing with your very considered and sensible post!

I think you’re spot on about Goodwin being unable to field a winning side when the pressure is on.  His infamous cup exits to would certainly suggest that.  That does not bode well for a United as the pressure is only going to get greater as the season nears its end.

I also think a lot of United players have been greatly overrated by many United fans (when things were going well).  You have signed far too many players that are trading on past glory or never to be fulfilled potential (Middleton, Sibbald, Watt, Moult etc).  I think that shows in the utter lack of determination from just about every United player on the park.  Way too many players appear to be looking to do the minimum.

On a separate note has Ogren actually said he is actively looking to sell the club?  He is an incredibly rich man and has only spent a small amount (£13M) of his wealth on United.

Perhaps if United fans start singing  “USA, USA, USA…..” at their games again, like they did regularly when he first arrived) he may start investing in the club again……………..

Wouldnt get too excited, theyll sack Goodwin after tonight and hire Fotheringham, and then stroll to the title.

They weren’t getting enough out of Watt so they made him vice-captain.  Time to up the ante and make him player-manager……….

  15. Understandably a lot being said about how poor Aberdeen were.  I think that’s a a bit of a disservice to Sylla in particular who totally dominated midfield.  He never gave Aberdeen a chance to perform.

From an Aberdeen perspective they appear to rely far too heavily on Shinnie IMHO.

It gets even worse, Nelms is supposedly sending his son into the army 😂😂

Reminds me of the time someone in my work asked us to donate money to his son who was going to Ukraine to fight against the Russians.  He took the huff when I told him his son wasn't a hero but was in actual fact a terrorist!!

I don’t think that’s how army recruitment works.  Do you simply mean his son is joining the army?

It just makes no financial sense to me not to find an alternative strategy given both clubs are haemorrhaging money year on year on two aging stadiums.

But then when did financial sense become a thing in Scottish fitba?

Speaking to United fans I know many think their stadium is to a good modern standard.  The shed end and the old stand are far from modern standard in my opinion.

I was repeating what Dundee fans who had posted elsewhere had said as to why you had to move from Dens. One I spoke to IRL was explaining how you couldn't knock it down to replace/expand etc, but also how you were gonna sell the ground and houses would be built on it. I had assumed the bit he was havering about was how it could be knocked down to make houses but not a new stand, not that it was listed at all.

There’s certainly someone on here that has been havering……
