  1. It's the stadium on top of everything else I think. Just cumulatively rubbish. I'm going to email the board over the next few days. Felt pretty close to having a real pop at the chairman today so best I took myself down the road
  2. Walked out at half time. I gave it a chance but I just don't think it's for me.
  3. Sake, I got straight in. Big queue for standing though. Could have had another pint
  4. Will leave the pub at half past, it's about 400 yards from the ground. If that's too late to get in on time then so be it
  5. 3 months after the best football day of my life. Our first home game in League 1 against a team that I'll always associate with the top 2 divisions. A free pass to have a couple of pints beforehand. A genuinely likable team with some really exciting new signings. And I couldn't be more down about it. Feels like someone will one day write a book about how much of a mess we've made of this.
  6. Aye folk saying he's tremendous, be interesting to see. The squad looks far better than I expected it to be if I'm honest (pity everything else is awful)
  7. Yeah it's 2 turnstiles in total. A shambles. Looks like there's portable toilets and an extra food van on the East side of the stadium at least.
  8. I don't disagree. That's why I said it wasn't all the club's fault. The ground would have been fine/passable with the new stand (very basic structure that could go up in a matter of days and we did have plannign permission for it) and it was only after the regulatory submission to the SFA was made that it transpired the stand couldn't be built. The club have been naive in taking Edinburgh Leisure's word for it and neglignet in not arranging a contingency. Visiting fans are right to be annoyed and right not come. The club have to face up to that.
  9. Genuinely feel sorry for fans coming through for this one. It's not all the club's fault - Edinburgh Leisure are an absolute joke and have been no help whatsover but it just smacks of how little thought is given to the fan experience in this country. The set up would have been okay when we were East of Scotland and Lowland, we might have got away with it for a bit in League 2 but it's just nowhere near viable for League 1 football. On the bright side the weather forecast looks good.
  10. In Edinburgh? As we live through a record breaking inflationary period? During the Fringe? No. But the Hoppy might be the closest.
  11. Better view than if you're in the first row of the stand at least!
  12. bizarre stuff - assumed there would be an away fans option on Fanbase. I think buying on the app is correct. Good point on the disabled access, I've genuinely no idea. I'd suggest people tweet the club but not sure what the arrangements will be - crucial they have something for those fans.
  13. Depends on your definition 101 but, by any reasonable measure, aye, looks like it. I mean my season ticket was £250 so I'm a (willing) victim here as well
  14. I've been negative enough about the viability of the current stadium and the absurdity of the name change on our own thread so just to say that (unlike Ainslie Park) there are plenty of good pub options nearby for Saturday, a select few below: The Mash Tun - on Easter Rd, shows the early game if that's your thing and does food as well (15ish minutes to Meadowbank) The Artisan - on London Rd, shows the early game and the horses. No food but decent pints (10ish minutes to Meadowbank) Safari Lounge - on London Rd, no sport on TV but nice place, does pretty decent food (10ish minutes to Meadowbank) The Hoppy - on Marionville Rd, shows the early game, basically just a good football pub (2 minutes to Meadowbank) Limelite - Jocks Lodge, football and cheap (for Edinburgh) pints. (8ish minutes to Meadowbank) There are others obviously but I think any of the above would meet most of your needs. Hoppy for me I think.
  15. Judging by the twitter account the ticket sales for Dunfermline at home on Saturday are an absoltute farce. Was down at the gym earlier and as far as I can see that for the increased capacity (800 odd?) it's just standing on the grass on the opposite side of the stand (the wee green fence seems to go right round now). No elevation and no cover mean it's not exactly a bargain for £18 even in the current cliamte of spiraling prices.
  16. Well they must have sorted something. I'm going to the gym tomorrow morning so will try and have a nosey to see if there's anything started
  17. It won't be much more than that. We've never had a big support and the board have ruined relations with most of that support
  18. I did buy a season ticket, unsure how much I'll use it for reasons previously noted. However, despite our kit being available for weeks now I've still not had any communication about when I can expect my 'free' home top. If the board are reading this, I'm a large in Joma (was a medium in Macron)
  19. I don't think the behind the goal idea is viable as there's some sort of big storage shed at the West end and the East end looks like it's to be used for some sort of jumping/running/throwing activity. Uncovered standing across from the 'main' stand looks most likely. The trees and the old terrace might give some shelter from the North wind at least. Anyway, popped to the gym at lunch today. Absolutely tremendous facility, really first class.
  20. As I'm sure you can imagine I don't care about hospitality provisions as it's not why I go to the football but I'd assume most of these have not been thought about other than the facilities probably will be quite good as Edinburgh Leisure can use them as an extra revenue stream. Renting out during the week for events etc.
  21. Yeah even with it being a pleasant enough evening for watching football I think it'll be pretty low. Not sure how low it would need to be for the board to consider their approach. The focus for them really is the hospitality side of things
  22. On the stand and it's suitability. When the proposal for the stadium was put to the club they decided it wasn't suitable for any sort of league football and began looking elsewhere. Basically Edinburgh Leisure/the council had no interest in City as a tenant. Then COVID and it's financial implications hit and meant they had to think again so approached the club and were far more accomodating - City would be the anchor tenants and could explore building a new stand. From that the club decided New Meadowbank would be viable and announced the return. Obviously plenty of delays etc and we ended up doing another year in Pilton (or North Fettes as some call it) but broadly we were going home and had permission to build a new stand which would make it a decent enough ground as well as being able to use the facilities for training and for the women's team. Most importantly to the board we had free reign on the hospitality side of things. Which we didn't at all at Ainslie Park. However, it's clearly not planned out as we would have liked. New Meadowbank had a little extra delay which meant we had to run the cup games as 'test' events and most importantly the planning permission that was granted on the new stand seems to have been granted on top of a piece of land owned by the housebuilder developing the old Meadowbank footprint. Not sure whose fault that is but I'd suggest someone should be checking in advance who owns the land and all that. So that's where we are and broadly why. Vague noises about building a temporary standing area where the illicit stand was meant to be (but not encroaching on the disputed territory) but who knows. But as it a stands you can't really say anything other than New Meadowbank isn't fit for this purpose (despite being an excellent gym by all accounts, in fact I think I'll visit on Sunday). This is not insider info, it's just piecing together what the club have said over the months.
  23. Totally agree - think we've got a new guy on board this season and thought the package was tremendous.
  24. 499 in the stand (but you need to accommodate officials etc in that). Plan was for a second stand with seating and terracing. That looks to have gone tits up. New plan seems to be for temporary standing somewhere but who knows
  25. If you thought those toilets were bad I take it you never made it to Ainslie Park!!
