  1. Aye the people relying to the statement on Twitter certainly seem to think that! If it is the case then you wonder if that's his last shot at full-time football? Huge ability and could play at that kind of level I reckon but you only get so many chances.
  2. He dived v us to win a penalty in the playoff final so gets a fair bit of stick from our lot now. Probably the same at every ground around the country to be honest! An absolutely tremendous villain
  3. Think my nerves have about settled after those last 10 minutes. Great feeling to finally get that win and hopefully we can be competitive from here on in. Shanley was a huge miss and I think we'd have won more comfortably if he was playing. Thought Lee Hamilton was unbelievable again, that block on the line was an absolute lifesaver. No matter what happens this season we'll always have pantomime villain, Aidan Smith giving the crowd a bit then being at fault for 2 of our goals and being booked for diving. Great stuff.
  4. Was on the Terrace patreon pod the other day (just before the manger was confirmed) if you fancy it
  5. Yeah his background is harrowing and certainly gives context to what has happened since. I agree with you that blanking the media is a bad move but suspect it's one the club will take. Double edged sword really, if he's rubbish he might fly under the radar but if he does well then that will draw attention to what is clearly a notorious name in football circles. The club need to be ready to deal with that. Even on the link you shared I would imagine there will be an email from Daniel Taylor at the Athletic landing in the club inbox shortly! Clearly a story he (the journalist) sees as unfinished.
  6. Imagine there will be some observations once people Google the new manager. Unsure how the club plan to deal/not deal with it!
  7. I did wonder about that actually. Never quite sure how it was passed as fit for purpose. Don't think the criteria is overly strict but other than floodlights, dressing rooms and somewhere for the officials to change it must be non-existent!
  8. For all I'm not particularly optimistic about things here (as noted above, the lack of any interest whatsoever from Edinburgh Council and the huge challenges at Meadowbank) I still think we can stabilise in League 2. Obviously lots of factors to consider but I don't quite see us tumbling all the way down (famous last words and all that).
  9. I think we can rule out Mark Kerr for the managers gig then! Looked miles off it, totally bereft of any confidence from the last 2 weeks and poorer than we've been under Maybury. Rumours the new manager will be in place soon. Aim needs to be somehow getting to 9th and surviving via the playoffs.
  10. May as well start this - can't imagine much interest in this or the game itself (apparently there's another game in Edinburgh at 3pm on Saturday). Mark Kerr in place as caretaker but no real indication he is a contender for the gig permanently. Based on performances the last few weeks I would have been confident of a win under Maybury but now he's been punted it's all a bit hard to predict. If we could avoid chucking away a 3 goal lead this time though that would be grand. We've got to win eventually (well not really but we probably will) so may as well be this weekend. 2-1 City, Shanely and Handling.
  11. https://spotify.link/jvMzxQsLEDb Podcast out now, thoughts on Maybury getting punted, broadly 2 thought it was the right idea, 1 thought it was the wrong idea. As I am the 1 then I reject majority consensus
  12. Pretty sure we'll win - last week, despite the painful end will have boosted confidence. Having said that we are still very naive defensively so can obviously get a doing. 1-3 City. Shanley, Handling and Spence from distance (finally) to give us our first 3 points of the season.
  13. Can't remember ever feeling as bad after a draw. Painful stuff. Thought Shanley was basically unplayable today, he's just so so good. Clear to me the players are still playing for Maybury and keeping him in the job looks to be the right decision (and one I support). Surprised by how poor Cove were to be honest, expected more (and wasn't expecting much!) Young Offord trying to chip the goalie when he was clean through to win it will haunt my dreams tonight. Something he'll learn from no doubt. Bit of aggro between some Cove fans and maybe one of our players at the end? Didn't see it properly but lots of shouting and protesting of innocence etc.
  14. I'd like us just to be a bit less naive, we're so easy to play against just now it's frightening. I've said it in numerous places but we got far too carried away with the first half of last season, that was always an anomaly and we need to re-adjust our expectations and therefore approach to games. 2 pints tomorrow and I'll have us winning 4-0.
  15. Expect both teams to do their best to lose this game tomorrow. And good luck to them on that noble endeavour. From the City side I don't expect Maybury to get punted unless we get an absolute doing.
  16. Vote of confidence for Maybury from the chairman today - but don't think anyone is under any illusion that Saturday is a must win. I think our expectations for this season were far too high and based on an unrepeatable run of form early last season and on that basis as well as the credit he has in the bank I'm not calling for him to go. Obviously if he gets punted he can't really complain when you look at the run we're on but would certainly give him Saturday and take it from there. Echo all the comments above about the suitability of Meadowbank and the real challenge it poses to City's future but don't see any obvious solutions. Only thing I'd say is that the board appear to be fully aware of this and will be trying everything possible.
  17. Agree on the turnstiles - it's a nightmare and usually just means the door gets opened and people checked that way, only thing to add is I think there was a new ticket scanning system in place on Saturday which didn't help. On pies - they are sold but as a non-meat eater I can't really comment other than to say we need to introduce a macaroni version! Again agree it can be slow but is decent scran overall. The seating needs sorted, hopefully go back to allocated as that was simpler - for Saturday I believe it will be clearer which seats are reserved by the board/visitors/season ticket holders. The rest will be first come first served. Then on the standing behind the goal, yes it's correct there's an extra charge (apparently) and just another reason why Meadowbank isn't a suitable venue for football (or any other sport!!) at this level. Only thing I'd say is the new ownership (who inherited this mess) recognise this and the tickets are priced accordingly.
  18. Thought we were okay first half today then rubbish second half. I like the manager a lot but taking off Innes and putting on McLean was a huge mistake and clear at the time. Gave up any pretence of managing the game and left an exhausted Shanley to dangle out a leg to give away the free kick they got the winner from. It's a very tough start to the season and we'll probably lose next week as well but overall I don't think we're too far off. Annan look like they'll be last, just hope we're good/lucky enough not to be next
  19. New pod out today. Thoughts on the League Cup group stages - no very good Thoughts on the squad - better than expected to be honest Thoughts on the members Q&A with Alan Maybury - absolutely class https://spotify.link/XA0vORfs6Bb
  20. I think we got some cash for him as well - not much I'd suggest. He's a lovely laddie but I think we were conceding an average of 4 goals a game or similar with him in nets. Boy on loan from Raith looks good, we've been pretty lucky with goalies over the years actually.
  21. Cheers RT! Yes hopefully it can be a reasonable enough tool for fans/clubs. Pretty key everyone involved, officially or otherwise, gets better at telling the story of City!
  22. Here you go! https://spotify.link/bEWPQ9XynBb Hopefully a reasonable listen and more to come etc.
  23. Looks like we're bringing back the podcast this season and all being well, recording tonight. Will try and keep references to Love Island to an absolute minimum. The board have made it clear that they'll be offering players, officials etc for interviews so hopefully that'll work well for future episodes
  24. Yeah just to confirm the removal of the catering van was an error in the programme - the club shop is being closed because it was a massive waste of money by all accounts. Not sure if the merchandise will be 100% online or not but looking forward to seeing the new kit. Then on the pricing, it's an attempt by the club to bring more fans in and appeal to those priced out elsewhere, it won't take a massive uptick in attendance to match the revenue from last year even with the lower pricing. Should also be pointed out that there aren't anywhere near as many freebies as last season. All things considered I think it's worth the risk and I certainly am 100% behind it. And no sugar daddy! But there are attempts to tap other revenue sources that the previous ownership seemed to ignore (probably to comfortable with Tom's cash coming in to try anything else) including the new membership scheme and increased sponsorship. The aim is to be a sustainable club and if we don't manage that then we're goosed so it's all hands to the pump!
