  1. We've done pretty well since the clubs last met. I reckon the players will be keen to put right last week's performance and result and secure Championship football next season.

We know QP can hurt us, given they've beaten us twice this calendar year but I think this Dunfermline team is probably the best one they'll have faced. If DT is out then even better.

    Home win.

Completely agree. Since the manager came in we've had four windows and only really addressed the striking issue in the most recent one with the loan signing of Chris Kane. I'd love to see him stay permanently but I have a suspicion St.Johnstone might want him back, especially if they find themselves in the playoffs and go down. Even if we were to sign Kane permanently, I'd like to see another striker coming in.

Was just on the Thistle thread and someones posted all of the PCA and out of contract players in the Premiership this summer. Chris Kane showing as out of contract at St.J so maybe less likely he will be back there. I thought someone had said he had another year.

  3. Saturday sounds like it was just a bad day at the office, I couldn't make it and missed the Thistle game due to being on holiday but the guys have done okay lately and can be forgiven for a wee blip, sounds like even the solid 7/10 guys were a bit off the pace. Airdrie are sitting fourth for a reason.

I have to be honest, if we can take 5th that will do me fine. Making the playoffs after the season we've had would be a great achievement but do I really think we would get the better of Thistle, Raith and then a Premiership team? No (although it is the Championship so anything possible). Finish 5th, get the boys a break and come back hungry to go again next season. Still work to be done to avoid getting sucked back into the 9th place shenanigans although I think we'll be fine.

Need a goalscorer pronto, the return from the forward players simply hasn't been good enough.

We'll probably sign Osman Sow ar the start of September.

  5. Not making it today unfortunately as I think it’ll be a good game. We need a win or the promotion playoffs chance is gone, a draw suits Airdrie.

Four without defeat so a reason to feel like we can win, it’s Airdrie after all who we’ve beaten twice this season already. They’ve been doing well recently but so have we. They lost to Ayr at the end of March, and I think Ayr are genuinely the shittest team we’ve played this season.

Head says a score draw, maybe 2-2, heart says Pars win.

POTY will be weird this season with so many in and out the team. But I can't see past the pair of them to be picking up most of the awards.

I'm not 100% sure of the age limit for YPOTY but I'd imagine Otoo will take the main prize. However, I wouldn't be shocked to see Hammy land POTY and Otoo then taking the YPOTY because they've been the two most consistent players. The reason I mention the age limit is because I often forget how young Hammy is (still only 22) so I wondered if he would qualify.

Looking at the squad list, the guys who've returned recently are having good impact but they've missed so much I think it would be unfair on Hammy and Otoo.

Raith and Arbroath, both away from home.

That Raith Vs Airdrie one should be good. By that time they'll have played Utd and if they get a win I think it'll propel them to the title, however Airdrie are their bogey team with a lot to play for. What goes, Raith's title chance or Airdrie's hold over them?

We played 4-2-3-1, KRH was not playing as a wing back

    Just now, Heaton said:

Aye absolutely no way KRH was RWB v United. It was a back 4. I can't comment on yesterday not being there and based solely in my hungover viewing of the highlights

Agreed. Definitely back four against Utd, I did watch the stream yesterday and it looked the same until Fisher came on for Welch-Hayes and they put him in as another centre half and pulled KRH back slightly.

Hate to be 'that guy' but today showed up issues with consistency, in terms of players, formations and the team in general.

We were nowhere near our performance last week.

Great that we got the win, and credit to the team and players, but another team would have taken advantage of us and beaten us. Defensively I thought we were solid but going forward we were poor with too many punts and KRH, Kane*, Jakubiak and Todd not involved enough and not linking up effectively.

*Injured again, hopefully he's back for next week, but wouldn't be disappointed if Jakubiak played in the role as he did against Dundee United.

Didn't think he went off purely due to injury, I think he was getting readied to come off anyway as by that point he'd played 77 minutes, having not played since 2nd March.

  10. Really happy with the win! Prior to the Dundee Utd game I looked at our remaining games and thought yesterday would be the hardest for some reason. I knew Morton were on a bit of a losing streak but fancied them to try and put that right, as I'd watched them comfortably beat ourselves, Motherwell and run the JT's tight in the Scottish Cup.

I managed to get a stream on the firestick. The ParsTV camera was shit, genuinely felt like they'd put a manager camera on one of the players.

I'm hoping now we can go on a wee run and build some momentum. Top four is completely doable however I don't see us causing much concern in the playoffs if we got there. Tough away game with Airdrie to come in a few weeks, it would be them who I'd fancy for 4th as it stands but who knows.

Great save from Mehmet but from the steam it looks like an error on his part where he should have caught the ball before the incident happened. Would need to see it back but that was the general feeling in the group chat.

  11. Just had a quick read of the managers pre-match comments and it's all fairly positive apart from the fact it looks like Ben Summers will miss out with a back injury that hasn't really improved this week. Rhys Breen and more importantly Chris Kane are back in the squad. I have a feeling he might stick with the winning team and keep Kane on the bench but who knows. Plus Andy Tod Jnr and Xavier Benjamin are available too, they just didn't make the bench due to having *wait for it* too many fit players WEYHEY!

  12. Can't see a thread so thought I'd start one.

Big game for both, can Morton end their run of four defeats on the spin or will the Pars add more misery following their beating of the league leaders?

A place we've won at already this season, however very different times. Morton were yet to find themselves in any real form at that point with injuries etc and we were in the early days of survival mode, missing most big hitters but scraping by, after this game I feel we regressed up until late January. The last few weeks have certainly been more promising with wins over Thistle, Ayr and Dundee Utd however losses against Airdrie and Raith in amongst that leave us wondering what Dunfermline will show up.

When I looked at our remaining games prior to Friday it was the one causing me most concern. Cappielow hasn't really been a happy hunting ground and up until recently Morton were consistently the form team in the division. However, a rejuvenated Pars squad hopefully with Chris Kane back in the team coming off that good win on Friday could have enough to take the points.

What's changed at Cappielow, Ton fans? Purely down to George Oakley missing and low numbers in the squad?

A win would take the Pars above Morton into 5th (Morton with a game in hand) and just a point behind Airdrie who aren't playing this weekend. I reckon if the Ton win this one they'll put to bed any concern of getting sucked into the challenge to avoid 9th.

FWIW, I still think it'll be either Morton or Airdrie who finish 4th and to be fair I'm okay with that this season.

  13. If Jakubiak plays like he did on Friday night then I don't mind how prolific in-front of goal he is. The boys definitely got it, that wasn't two haddies from lower league opposition, that was apparently the best the league has to offer, and he had them on toast.

I thought Jakubiak had signed a deal that would see him up until the end of next season but could be wrong. Sad to say, but if you offered me the chance to keep one of Jak or McCann then I'd be going for the former every day of the week at the moment. The more this season goes I can see Lewis McCann being a squad player, backup for that wide left role. Good asset to have if he puts in the effort.

What a totally different season we would have had if Kane and Matty were available. I’ve read some peoples doubts about wee Kane at this level across the Pars websites, but he doesn’t seem out of his depth IMO. I know there’s no guarantees at this level but I think with those guys more available we’d be challenging nearer the top than bottom right now. I’m actually looking forward to our next game without trepidations for a change.

I can understand the doubts over Kane from people outside of the Pars. They see this guy we go on about a lot, no assists, no goals etc. The kids had the most unfortunate of seasons, I think Friday was only his 8th appearance of the season so it's going to be hard to build up any momentum. Hopefully Friday will refute the opinion that he's not good enough.

What I do think is odd, is members of our own crowd who in recent times have started to say things like "a few good games in League 1, not good enough for Championship WAH WAH WAH".

Matty Todd makes us tick. Again, he'll get stick from Raith fans because we seen him as our main man and he's hardly kicked a ball this season. However, in his couple of games before Christmas where he had returned he scored twice. Then on his second return to the team he scored, and has now scored again. He's the man and teams will find that out very soon.

It was pleasing to win on Friday, not because it was a convincing win, not because it was Dundee Utd but because we also done it without Chris Kane. He's only been in the door a few weeks but the contrast in difference of us playing with him and without is mega. So for us to go and put the top dogs in the division away without your main striker is very pleasing indeed.
