I’m in the same position as you, except I must have parked a bit closer. There can’t have been many left at full time. I got into the car, turned the radio on and Rovers had just been awarded their penalty.

Aye we were in Beveridge Park when the big roar went up for the penalty.

Well if anyone in here stayed around until FT can you let me know what the reaction was like? The boys didn't play badly but just curious if there was apathy from the fans towards the players and manager. I still can't get my head around the Otoo sub.

  2. Much as Salvo says in the opening post, if Chris Kane is fit then he plays and we might take something. That's how big a difference he makes to us in the attacking third of the pitch. For anyone looking in, yes only one goal in three games but it's his all round play that makes the difference.

Have to be honest, Friday is a free hit as no one will expect us to win the game. I think we're capable but also aware of the task at hand. After Friday we've played the top two for the last time this season and will have seven games left against the teams placed 3rd to 10th. That's where we need to be focusing.

That's when I left too. It's like a switch going off in your brain to know it's time to just f*ck off. I think they could have played all night and not score tbh.

Aye 100%! To be fair as soon as the second went in my mate (who was the designated driver) made a beeline for the stairs, however we jumped in a quiet row near the side of the stairs and watched for a few minutes more. As soon as Hammy hit that poor, floaty shot into the away end that was enough for me. I think if there was a set of full size goals on top of the original ones it would still have gone over the bar.

  4. Just out of interest, what sort of reception did the players/managers get at full time on Saturday? We left as soon as Hammy launched one into the away end from outside the box, however I think there could have been still 5-10 mins left as we were back at the car on the other side of Beveridge Park by time the whistle went.

Yep,Dunfermline are fortunate they have an area to house their singing section but it still hasn,t stopped them throwing pyros and other objects on to the pitch

Just on that, I think after what happened at the derby at New Year, the club reached out to some of the older guys who started SNW and had a word as they’ve been well behaved since. Even on Tuesday at home to Airdrie, the section was packed out, Airdrie players were doing their upmost to wind up the home end and that section and their behaviour was really good I have to say, nothing thrown, still singing but no nonsense. Hopefully that continues and hopefully you lot can get a permanent fixture for a section. The railway stand would be handy in the future.

Had to laugh at the stadium announcer coming on yesterday and just saying “please don’t be idiots, throwing flares on the park” 🤣

  6. I just went through in the in the car yesterday with a couple of mates, parked at the other side of Beveridge Park for easy exit. Was speaking to someone in the ground who’d been out in Kirkcaldy beforehand and said the trouble was as bad as it’s been for a good while. It’s always been there but yesterday was apparently very bad.

As a Pars fan you’ll leave whatever pub you’re in and get to that corner where the Dutchess is and there’ll be several police vans, cars etc and you think nothing will happen, the police are on top of it today. Then you walk two hundred yards up Pratt St to Estuary and it kicks off. If they just closed off that road for visiting fans and punted them up a different road they’d have a relatively trouble free afternoon.

It seems more younger guys that are the bother these days. I remember my first Rovers away game was the 1-2 game in November 2009, Craig Wilson scoring a last minute OG winner for the Pars. It kicked off between the Pennyfarthing and Starks, it was chaos easy 30 on 30 with police in the mix too, but from memory it was all men, guys in their mid 20’s up to 40’s. Now it’s teenagers, heavy puffing on hubba bubba vapes, not really aware of the consequences.

I really don’t get why McPake has such a strong backing from a majority of the Pars support.

From the derby games and a few other times I’ve seen you on TV I think he looks tactically inept. An opinion backed up by the majority of the Dee fans. Falkirk showing like you guys did last season how woeful league 1 really is so it really shouldn’t be held up to any sort of achievement.

Was delighted to see Otoo go off yesterday and that charlatan McCann come on. That was the easiest we’ve seen out a game all season, we’re known to shit the bed but your manager weakened the team whilst chasing. Utterly bizarre.

On a positive, that team you had start the game is only 2/3 players from being decent. Dunfermline board should be doing everything to bring in Rhys McCabe.

It’s a strange one, the cards dealt this season would impact any club, just as you found out last season so he deserves some slack for that. Some of the players are back now and it’s helped, we really were so bad a handful of weeks ago, but we signed Chris Kane, got some guys back and all of a sudden had some positive results. When Chris Kane is missing it’s like we just do not function in the final third, absolutely hopeless as you would have seen yesterday. Some and I count myself in that think he deserves more time with the squad he actually built.

Falkirk haven’t really had any competition this season. Hamilton Accies didn’t put up any fight at all and rolled over and got their bellies tickled anytime they played Falkirk. Whereas when we won League 1 we still had Falkirk and Airdrie to deal with. Without both Dunfermline and Airdrie there it’s a much easier league. No doubt they’ve made it look good but they chucked more cash at it this season and it finally paid off.

One criticism I will have is last season we were fairly toothless up front but still managed to grind out wins every week. We all knew that wouldn’t be allowed in the Championship yet it wasn’t addressed. Wighton and McCann got new deals, Todorov was wrongly let go as was O’Hara’s which I completely agree with. We dicked about the whole window and finally opted for the out of contract Alex Jakubiak who isn’t a bad player but isn’t a proper striker that’ll get you 15-20 goals a season. We opt for the signing of an untried Blackpool kid, take a couple of pastings and all of a sudden the club panic, dip into their pockets and sign Chris Kane.

The Otoo sub was wild and was rightly met with criticism. Now Otoo could have had a knock, been asking to come off etc but we’ll need to wait and see. If it was tactical then that would be enough for me to change my stay or go opinion on him. Otoo was easily our best player.

We don’t have a bad squad. The back four yesterday were absolutely fine. The midfield was fine, once guys like Todd and Richie-Hosler get some more minutes they’ll bring more, but at the business ends of the park we’re poor. Deniz Mehmet is a butter-fingers b*****d who’s always blaming everyone else but himself. At the opposite end, Chris Kane is the only one I really class as a proper striker. McCann doesn’t know what he wants to be, Wighton isn’t a proper #9 (at this level anyway) and is also out for the season, the boy Holmes is just a young guy from down south who is physical but hasn’t looked like scoring and Jakubiak is better as a wider forward or playing up as a two, which we’ve not really done yet.

I like McCabe as manager but at the same time I think he’s quite suited to Airdrie, if he did move it might not work as well for him, not yet anyway. He has a team who all seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, a team of grafters who play good football.

Our board are stubborn. They appointed Peter Grant following him relegating Alloa. Then waited too long to sack him. They appointed Yogi and despite him having from early November to fix things, we still got relegated. They weren’t going to sack him until he resigned. The McPake appointment raised eyebrows at first but he won us all over. I can’t see them sacking him with eight games to go.

Guy in the third or fourth back row tried to set off some sort of firecracker when Stanton scored. It didn't light and he was huckled straight away, so stewards are taking action where they see it.

A decent sized section set up as a singing section for next season is a must for me. Easier to steward them all in the one visible place.

Top of stair 3 was pretty overcrowded. I'm not going to be over critical of a couple of boys squeezing in so they can join in the singing (done it myself when I was younger) but there was more than 2 per seat in some bits and the resulting spilling out in to the aisle, and constant steward presence couldn't be relaxing for someone over the aisle just wanting to watch the game.

Even with bigger crowds im sure with a bit of common sense we can allow everyone to enjoy the match the way they want to (obv exclding outrageous stuff like throwing smoke bombs on the pitch)

Someone let off/threw one of those firecrackers from our end at the start of the second half, very nearly shit my pants.

Do you mean when your player was knocked over? I assumed you where talking about the ball hitting Murray while he was on the ground. Looks like it was Matthews that done that. Would have been a soft pen but seen them given. I don't think stanton dived or was even looking for a penalty. Looked to me at the time he was just fucked and turned awkwardly which you can't really make our in the highlights.

Directly after that, 05:35 on your highlights, ball is loose, Todd touches it and is wiped out. He probably didn’t purposely dive but it doesn’t look like he was touched. Another Craig Napier shocker.

Todd's was 100% a dive. I'm not sure what you expected Murray to do while being on the ground in that situation but I wouldn't have said that was a penalty and wouldn't have shouted for it if it was for us. I also don't think we should have had a pen, I thought stanton just twisted awkwardly and was actually more worried about him being injured at the time than getting a penalty.

Just watched it back, Brown isn’t on the ground, not sure what you mean? The first one is debatable and the ref deemed it a dive, the second one is a penalty. Just had a look at the penalty you got (first time I’ve watched it back) and it’s more of a dive than Todd’s was early on.

What's the story with Kane? Injured I assume?

Aye I think so mate, would he 100% starting the game if fit. He signed and played home to Arbroath, then the following Friday in the win at Thistle. However he missed the midweek game in Inverness due to illness. Apparently crawled off the sickbed to score on the Ayr game then was missing midweek again due to “fatigue”. Fully expected him to play yesterday until someone touted on Saturday morning that he was out, and they were unfortunately right.

He's the only real striker at the club apart from one of the academy graduates. Ali McCann’s wee brother Lewis is about as much use as a button on a sock at the moment and Jakubiak is better playing wide of a three as opposed to through the middle.

I thought Grant was still in charge at the October 2021 game and I thought you never won a  league game under him?

There was a game in April just after we won the diddy cup, but our league form was abysmal - would that have been the game you're referring to?

The game I’m referring to finished 1-1, Brad Spencer scored late for RR. We went to Arbroath and lost 4-2 a few days later and Grant was binned.

We did beat you 2-0 under Yogi towards the end of that season, April time. Think I might have got the “then we played Thistle” bit mixed up last night.

Wasn’t that a post Covid game with restricted ticket sales?

    1 minute ago, parsforlife said:

It was, I think TBF you did sell your north east allocation but not by enough to justify giving you the main stand east wing which is available for away supports.  East stand wasn't available due to being the away team changing area.

October 2021, things were back to norm by then. Was no restrictions in the home end, because I remember we missed 5 mins getting in, it was packed. We’d beat Thistle 4-1 live on the telly the week before, probably the last positive performance before we shit the bed.
