Club stuck a picture of the pitch up on twitter, looks very good all things considered. Will be torn up badly by the end of the warm up no doubt.

Seen that, looks decent but as you say it'll be cut up in no time.

    Bene out for tonight apparently?

    No.

Yes. McPake confirmed it at the Supporter's Meeting. No idea if he is crocked (again) or just resting him. We are completely fucked without him and Kane. Would bite your hand off for a draw tonight.

Huge blow if that's the case. Despite the result everything just felt a wee bit more settled and secure with Bene there last week, what happens now do we lose Hammy from the middle of the park, just impacting us all over. No chance Fisher will be ready to start.

The way I see it is the Pars must not lose or they are in real danger of a relegation they can’t afford. From a Rovers perspective the Pars are thee Derby whether they like it or not. With Failkirk coming up we both need each other. Big Derbies for all of us are beneficial.

But it draws you closer. The Pars simply can’t afford that. ICT are right behind you.

What a lot of pish. After tonight we play everyone else outside the top two, that are so far away from everyone else. Our games against Raith and Dundee Utd won't define our season, it's the next 7 games that will. A win would be nice tonight but a loss won't relegate us tonight. The other teams will likely have to still play Raith and Dundee Utd.

What's the weather outlook? I assume there's a pitch inspection - was poor for Airdrie and there's been a tonne more rain this week.

It's been lighter rain than yesterday but still raining. I hope it's on, with or without Chris Kane (he's definitely out) I want this game on. The drainage at East End is pretty good, so when it's not freezing it usually copes quite well. There was a game in the autumn where it had rained so heavy for about a week and the game was on, I was shocked so I think we'll be okay today. It's not meant to rain much between now and 4 o'clock and then not at all after that, BBC Weather even teasing a bit of evening sunshine.

How good will the football be? Terrible. People might think they've tuned in to one of those Scottish football re-runs from decades one by, it'll be a mud bath. I suppose it means if the game is off we'll be looking at a midweek fixture as all other weekends are booked out until the end of the season. I'd sooner we're getting players plenty rest through the week in these final eight games.

  3. May be tempting fate here but this season I've always thought we could beat Dundee Utd, probably just down to them having some inconsistencies and not just blowing teams away. Whereas oddly I've always went into every derby this season thinking we might lose, Raith just have our number this season. Tonight will be our best chance to beat Utd with players we have back, however seems almost certain Chris Kane will again miss out which is a major issue.

If we don't concede early and stay in the game I always think we can nick something. Pressure all on Utd to increase their lead at the top. After tonight we play the other teams from 3rd to 10th, those are the games we must be going to take points. Dunfermline aren't really expected to win tonight.

  4. For anyone interested, if you jump over to the EEB forum, there is a pretty good rundown of last nights supporters meeting. I think it was for members of supporters clubs etc hence why no open invite.

Decent read and should hopefully add some meat to the bones and put some rumours to bed about missing out on guys for the sake of £100pw etc.

  5. If we played Arbroath every week, I'd have Wighton up front every week. He seems to score against them every time we play.

I thought he done well last season. He's a good footballer and you can see when we've got the luxury of being ahead with a bit of a cushion and the flicks and tricks come out, he's pretty good but he just isn't a centre forward.

Should we stay up (which I do think we will), I think there'll be a bit of change in the final third for next season, given how poor we've been there this season. I'm not saying he'll get paid up, or anyone for that matter as we certainly don't have that cash but I wouldn't be shocked if he's not seen as the #9. Again, he might have this decent rest and come back to pre-season staking his claim.

Any further news on if Kane will be back ? He's so important to our attack, everyone else put up there is hopeless.

Saw McCann played in the reserves yesterday so he looks likely benched again.

I think the Courier reported yesterday that Kane, Andy Tod Jnr and Sam Fisher were all in contention.

Challenge Cup game aside where we fielded our U-17's, our games with Utd have all been close. Two draws in the league up at Tannadice and narrowly lost at East End. Our squad should be as good as it has been all season so I think we have a chance to take something again, especially of Chris Kane returns.

As much as I do detest DAFC on the pitch, 99% of the support are good people who simply want to support their club. There club isn't doing well financially and now look likely to received a 6 figure bill for damage caused by people that claim to be supporters. Idiots.

Can you tell me where I sign up for this job please? Six figures for a day or two’s work sounds absolutely smashing.

No doubt it’s a completely terrible act, I’m embarrassed to be a Pars fan this season due to some of the off the pitch stuff and of-course on the pitch this season but that’s not six figures worth of damage, not even close.

It's a tough for people doing the job. Everyone thinks they'd go full Paxman with interviews but the reality is that if you go too far into the awkward questions, you end up with Brian Rice's awkward formations interview at Alloa. On the other side, nobody wants leading questions which are easy to answer.

At this level, it's pretty much all volunteers too - it can be tough to find an interviewer who can handle the situation well. We're lucky at Rovers to have Davie Hancock who feels like someone who has a natural rapport with whoever he talks to.

    This is all very true.

I was talking about the guy who does the Raith TV interviews on our match thread last week, he’s very good and as you say sounds like there’s natural rapport there.

  9. I was in the bogs at HT on Saturday and it was pretty busy, but definitely damage and graffiti free. There were a lot of young guys smoking vapes which I thought was odd, because Raith actually have a smoking area. At the same time there were plenty normal, older heads just in having a slash. It's a very risky gig to be going in and doing that sort of damage when stewards/police and other supporters who aren't complete idiots are only a matter of metres away, could come in at any point.

    Very disappointing.

I don't mind the friday night games as much as some, but christ its a really disheartening way to end the working week when your struggling.

Aye starting Saturday morning off already knowing it's zero points before anyone else has played is a sickener. I enjoy watching the Friday games but prefer watching other teams, or if we're away from home.

Well lads, the incident at East End we were told the laddies had nothing to do with Northwest and “not Pars fans”.

Unfortunately I doubt you can deny this or deflect away from any of this.

Sent to me tonight by someone who works at the club. Thanks for the thousands of pounds worth of damage on top of the 12 points!

Fairly certain no one denied it was Pars fans, just making things up.

Ridiculous behaviour from whatever wee fannies have done this. Quite intrigued by the writing on the seats, it looks quite near the front where there was a heavy police/security presence, not sure how they've managed that.

  12. Initially people thought Otoo must've been injured. If not then it's a very odd sub for a number of reasons, mainly becase Otoo was our best player. Also, Chris Hamilton was already on a booking, if it was tactical Otoo could have played wherever Hammy was being asked to play. He takes Otoo off and Hammy remains on the park for another 20 mins where he could quite easily have picked up another yellow given the circumstances of the game. All of a sudden we've got no holding midfielders on the park.

I'm getting a wee bit fed up of the lack of transparency after games. The Rovers media guys asks a lot of questions about the team and I feel in our interviews a lot of the potential big questions get skimmed over. I'd like to see someone ask him about that sub, even ask what is up with Chris Kane.

  13. I'm sure the Pars used to go to The Tipsy Cow, not sure if it's still called that. O'Connell's seems to have been a new thing this season. I was in it before the October game and it wasn't too bad. Suppose most away fans coming to East End use the Lizzie, makes perfect sense given it's behind the away end.

I have to say, despite our appalling record, Kirkcaldy is still one of my favourite away days. Easy to get to, easy to get back to Dunfermline, pubs are a stone throw away from the ground and of course it's a derby so it has that wee bit of edge to it. If we were to compare to having to go to Grangemouth it's night and day.
