  1. Will 100% be a typo, some of the stuff that gets posted on the official site is embarrassing, takes a couple of mintues to proof read things. I do that as part of my job for others that are sending letters out the door and I think I might offer my services at this Play Your Part evening next week. Last week something got posted out and there was just a random number in the middle of a word. Also, on the Chalmers contract, sounds like it's been triggered due to a certain number of appearances so he must've had a clause. However McPake played that down and said he'd be offering him one regardless kinda thing.
  2. Yeah no idea from this end why it's not. I think naturally we'd have liked this to be a Saturday but the only free Saturday we had was 11th Feb and that's when we're playing the postponed Airdrie game from 17th December. Enjoy a game under the lights but I feel a big game like this would be better suited to a Saturday afternoon. I suppose the clubs along with SPFL are just working out a fair situation, I'm sure both clubs would rather avoid certain weeks if possible, for example I don't think we'd fancy this game taking place midweek between the Airdrie doubleheader (unlikely as only next week).
  3. Hope he got it just for having lovely hair. One thing I’ll say, his wife/partner and their wee boy go to every game, wee boy in his Pars shirt and that’s nice to see. Bet it wasn’t easy for them when he was getting it tight last season. FWIW he’s been much better this season, yes he’s playing against L1 players but you can only play against who’s in front of you. He also takes the ball more than most, so It’s not surprising that he gives it away more, all that matters is he keeps looking for it even when things aren’t going well.
  4. Notice in the weekly manager interview McPake has now confirmed we were in for Euan Murray, he wanted to come but Hartlepool were holding out to get someone in, didn't and now that's done. Sounds like it could be something in the summer, McPake a big fan apparently.
  5. We have the capability to grind out results which is obviously a good thing and has worked, however the concern lies at the offensive end of the pitch. I just think as we enter the real business end of the season, every point becomes a prisoner, teams will know that going places like EEP and TFS are a free hit, get anything and it's a bonus so we'll see teams come in and sit in deep, try and nick something. We've had teams come to EEP all season and sit in and it'll only become tighter but exciting none the less. Our February is tricky but after that our run in isn't bad. Glad to have the likes of Queens, Kelty and Edinburgh at home.
  6. I think he does want to, however we're a bit surprised it hasn't been resolved by now. There was talk from our assistant manager pot match against Thistle that Fisher could be coming back to us, however one of Dundee's centre half's broke their leg, Fisher stepped in last weekend against Queens Park and played the full 90 and kept a clean sheet so I'd say that's now curtains. McPake said he'd identified targets for now who were still signed up at other clubs. He would try and get them now on permanent deals, agreeing a fee with said clubs and if that didn't happen would try and get them in on loan so I expect we'll see a new face or two before the month is out. Obviously being five clear and only one defeat all season is great, however we know fine well that a five point lead is nothing, especially when you're our nearest rival in the table and we both still have to play for six points. We'll drop more points before May, so will you so it's very interesting.
  7. Yeah I think for bragging rights we'd momentarily enjoy it if one stayed down, however next season in the Championship we'd both want that derby again.
  8. Aye you're best bet is side streets. Put Garvock Hill in your satnav, it's a road that runs parallel to Halbeath Road but it's on a hill. It has loads of side streets that you'll be able to get a spot and it's where I tend to park. Obviously the closer to East End the earlier you'll have to be but even turning up at 2:45 I can usually get a space, walk down and be in for kick off.
  9. Exactly. For me, one way or another both Dunfermline and Falkirk will be playing Championship football next season. I think the one who doesn't win the league is strong enough to go up via the playoffs. However, there's a chance that won't happen and if we've spent January looking at potential signings for next season and then don't go up it'll be a complete shambles on our part. Reading into it, I think he's identified guys who will become available in the summer for free, but wanted them now and couldn't make it happen. I'd imagine we'll now make loan offers for those players now with a view to signing permanently in the summer. One of two in and we're happy, we know we need to fill the void left by Sam Fisher and could do with another one in midfield, preferably a winger and I think that's what he'll want hence the interest in Niall McGinn. Get a couple in and we'll be confident to carry on and win this, but fail to and I think it'll be much more of a struggle.
  10. He said in the summer he'd only sign to improve the squad, not just make up the numbers and we ended up only signing three permanent players in the summer with four loans. He's kept the same policy in this window and we've not brought in anyone, whilst also losing a key player. I'd stick my house on us signing a couple of people on loan before the end of the month. It's a hard one, he's happy with what he has, we're 5 clear at the top of the league, the players we have used thus far have achieved that. That being said, we've rode our luck in games, late winner against Edinburgh, late winner against Alloa of the top of my head. 2/4 strikers have been injured for large parts of the season, however we've been okay with injuries and suspensions but I'm sure that won't last.
  11. 100% - how can we genuinely be looking at PCA's if we don't know what division we'll be in for sure, unless it's guys happy enough to play either Champ or L1.
  12. Well we know how much Meggle wanted PG following our 1-4 thumping of them. I’d be shocked if other board members had the same opinion, never mind a majority. Listen, I’m just venting, fed up with how the window has gone, I know there’s hard work going in everywhere behind the scenes. Lose a key player, don’t replace him (yes I’m sure we tried), dropping more silly points. We can’t really afford to wait until the end of February to recruit, four games minimum but potentially five if the crunch game with Falkirk gets announced.
  13. Maybe not overly attractive but also not the most unattractive. I’d say players wouldn’t hate the idea of joining Dunfermline or Falkirk with a a realistic chance of a league winners medal or promotion then a crack at the Championship. Well obviously they’ve helped pay for more things than paying off two failed managers, but let’s face it, the Rosyth facility doesn’t look any different to what it was, windows all boarded up. I know there was issues with planning etc but there was no clarity in the recent meeting, just a quick move on from the chairman. Yes, there’s more people on the board than the Germans but it seems to me like they had the say with the chairman. What’s the point in me going off at McCarthur, he’s gone. I actually do think the Germans with Cook have a bigger say about what goes on. Meggle is supposed to be the sporting director, where’s the European players we were supposed to be looking at in previous windows. None of them are getting off without blame, manager, chairman, board, investors are all at fault. It’s a disappointing window for a number of reasons, some out with our control ie Nisbet, however our closest rival in the league has hit some good form, binned duds and strengthened and we’re pissing about hoping that some sort of superstar is going to fall into our lap. Needs to be better than what we have, let me tell you, what we have isn’t that great, we’ve rode our luck a number of times this season and that won’t last.
  14. Surely if he has say five targets they’re not all rejecting deals to come here? Or to twist it, has he not got a plan B if only focussing on one target? You’re right about the investors not just spending on the first team, but they’ve spent little money on anything else, oh apart from the pay off for the massive disaster that was Peter Grant and possibly Yogi both of which were entirely their fault.
  15. Because, it’s been the same crap all through the summer window and now all through the winter window. Trying to get players in, has to be right etc. Will 100% cost us. Yes and no. Plenty games to play between now and the end of February, potentially even the rescheduled Falkirk game. Waiting until near the end of the loan window closes could cost us dearly. Everyone else manages to make signings and improve their squads, we’ve lost one and not replaced, a failure of a window. My thoughts exactly. Went along to the PSC meeting hoping to hear an update about the training ground and Dave Cook said straight away that there was work being done but little updates to share. Meggle was actually there sitting in the crowd along with other board members, didn’t say a word. Be nice to hear a bit more from these guys. I know Dave Cook plans on doing an interview this week that will be posted so he might have more to share.
  16. Just read that, pathetic. Sick of hearing how hard they’re working behind the scenes. Be class when players arrive at the end of February when we’ve inevitably dropped more points.
  17. That better be his poker face. Very irritating him talking about the summer, won’t matter worth a f**k if we’re still playing league 1 football.
  18. I’d be shocked if we were even in the same sentence as Lafferty tbh. He wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I’d absolutely take him if it was possible, again I think that’s not the case. Wonder could he end up at Queens Park? Simon Murray has just moved to Ross County, they’d be able to throw plenty cash I’m sure.
  19. If it’s his choice I think he’ll end up with us, he didn’t leave on terrible terms, Killie came in for him, offered more coin and a sensible move where he did go on to win the Championship. He also understands the Dunfermline/Falkirk rivalry, captained us to the win between the two in the league cup during covid times and scored if I’m not mistaken. Still he could just fancy something new and end up at TFS. If it comes down to Hartlepool they might have a preference, it may depend how offers more cash.
  20. Be a welcome addition. My thoughts, he would have played in a back two with Bene at Raith before he came to us, however probably managed by McGlynn too, not that these things matter.
  21. Craig Cairns reporting we're hopeful of two coming in today.
  22. Some deadline day developments. Craig Cairns of the Courier has responded to a fan, said we're working on one but like with a few others it relies on business being done elsewhere. If it doesn't happen today, then we're going to make it a loan for now. Also, he's just posted a new article that says Wigan likely to make a new offer for Nisbet which could bag us £££.
  23. Poor result for us at the weekend past, hoping the team can get back to winning ways, however it'll be no easy feat given that the team we're playing are the only team to defeat us in the league this season. Reckon it'll be as tight as it was at East End in August where the Pars ran out 1-0 winners after a late Nikolay Todorov goal. Not sure if we'll have any new faces in, would love to but would say it's unlikely, purely because McPake will only add if they can improve the first 11, whereas we 100% need some freshening up.
