  1. I was surprised when it was said we were in the reserve league this season, it is night and day from under 19s, it could be useful with players coming back from injury to get minutes etc, It will be a learning experience for the young lads, I think a few of the lads could still play under 19s anyway..
  2. He was on trial at St Mirren a few weeks back, don't think anything came of it, although I think we will be looking for back ups now, with the team doing well, so probably another under 20 from somewhere, this isn't what I agree with, but probably best case scenario.. Don't know if anybody has been following it the Airdrie Reserves got beat 7 nil today from livi, with Gallagher being red carded, would that rule him out of filling the bench on Saturday, it was a Reserve league fixture not under 19s..
  3. No chance of GMS etc coming to us, they will get a gig somewhere here or the state's, GMS was rumoured to be on 3k a week, Mulgrew probably more, let these guys do what they want.. The pond we are fishing in is probably the Euan East type, for some reason he doesn't seem to have been picked up, It sounds like the McStravick signing was leaked by Linfield, and we had to react on Sat evening as well, still waiting on official confirmation (done deal though) are we expecting any more deals this week.... apart from left back cover we seem pretty ok, at the moment number wise., although the quality drop off from starting 11 to deep into the bench is still pretty worrying..
  4. Oh what the hell , it's only another 2 quid... In all seriousness I would have thought the championship would have limits to what you can charge for admission, we moaned when we went from 18 to 20 this season... What do you guys feel about it, or is that the price for expected success
  5. This game will be a test of McCabes metal, without IMO our best 3 midfielders, we will not outscore United at Tannadice in a shoot out, . You can still play to win without going 'gung ho'. As we have all said and now not seemingly a concern, we are a very young side, defeats are part and parcel of all levels of football, we have to avoid a ' sair yin' at all costs, Football is about confidence , ours is high at the moment.. United will win this league at a canter, budget wise, player wise, club size etc, First real test for McCabe this season away from home, against a top side, with your starting midfield missing, When did away fans start getting dumped behind the goal in the old enclosure, is it not usually part of the fair play stand or whatever it's called these days..
  6. Is that Euan Devenney you are talking about, left back or left winger and thats it,, play him anywhere else and the manager really needs to take a good look at himself..
  7. Another rollercoaster of a Saturday, this feels like football compared to League 1, as I said before let's never darken that leagues door again.. We didn't play great, as Rhys was saying on his interview, as I said at the game you can sometimes score too early and the opposition can get the upper hand as the game goes on, We scored 2 opportunistic goals, especially Galls, great composed finish, ICT actually played decent stuff, but final third and pass was woeful, Frizz had 2 silly bookings, we cannot really moan about the ref, Carson would have walked for them if we were a little more streetwise second half, 2 or 3 times McGregor turned him and Carson had a pull on the shirt and a hold of the shoulder of Lewis goes down, Carson is off as well, that only comes with experience... We rode our luck as we tired a little late on, but as I said IcT were poor, although we were nothing special, Big game at Tannadice next week going in without arguably our best midfielders McCabe, Frizzell and Telfer ...
  8. I was watching Dodds second half trying to cajole a performance out his team, that didn't seem interested in what he wanted to change, which is a bad sign
  9. What do you pars boys thing about the championship this season, both sides seem to be doing ok, our best performance imo was the defeat to yourselves on opening day.. Every game seems to be an occasion compared to the League 1 drivel... How did you rate Dundee United last week, are they all that....
  10. Apparently we offered him a deal weeks ago, training etc, Looking for wages we couldn't afford , still think he will sign up when no one else offers a better deal than pars.
  11. What's happened to ICT , I wasn't expecting much today, coming up against a hardened top 4 championship side, to be honest we didn't play well, and we didn't really have to, 2 quick goals from mistakes, game over really, ICT pass the ball about well enough, but final ball or decision making in the final third was as poor as I have seen. 40 minutes against 10 men with a midfield 3 of a combined age of 57, is Dodds on a shoogly peg or can you not afford to bag him, Also, just catching up on the thread about the club running up 800k losses, are you guys now stuck in a tail spin of managed decline.
  12. Is Wotherspoon still training with the pars, what's the reason he isn't signing, do you still need him though, with Summers signing(good player)
  13. Trust the process, this current let's be honest relatively successful era is an ' Iain King wet dream '.. This was the mantra that was driven years ago under Wotherspoon, King and EWB which couldn't gain any traction and was scrapped for various reasons back then.. Good luck to the lad though,
  14. .Most memorable game I can remember was the first league game of The Archibald era, Sombrero Saturday it was called, roasting hot , sombreros everywhere and we ended up on the the end of a 4 goal hiding.. Both clubs fortunes we contrasting back then.. I saw you guys against Dumbarton a few weeks back, alright you lost, but in any other game you would have won easily, Welsh and Carson is as good a midfield pairing going around ,what's happened are you in a managed decline status as a club..
  15. I think we signed owenie at that time from Ross County, don't know what happened there, he seemed shot when we initially got him back, but McCall somehow got that side to click and we had a great season although ultimately ended in heartbreak on and off the park. ICT have had a great run, do you think you will get back to the Premiership, or is not that good to be a fan in that league, Dodds from afar seems to be doing a decent job, hearing a few rumblings that is not the case, Dodds is a west coast media whore though, so everything is always rosy..
  16. Good luck to young Justin, a player when Murray had him looked like a typical 18 year old Loanee, got released by killie, Rhys picked him up and came back a totally different player, that doesn't happen to every player released by bigger clubs, it shows there is talented laddies getting lost to the game.. What will happen next it won't be signings that's for sure.. In saying that we have signed GK Liam Prunty and CH Joe Cassidy from QP they I would imagine would go into the Under 18s , and also we are in the old Reserve League West this season which starts next week, so whatever fee once it gets diced up by Jackie Mac's cut, Killies development cut and whatever we get left with which will be split up into a payment schedule anyway, I would imagine it will go into the club 'infrastructure' to help fund the Under 18 and new reserve setup, To be honest not bad for a lad on a one year deal though is it..
  17. Remember it well, Inverness were the next big thing, and Airdrie put them to the sword, with Lee Gardiner pulling the strings. Funny how things worked out that season, Inverness ended up being the next big thing and we went bust....
  18. Sometimes in Football you learn a lot more about your team in defeat than you do in victory, even although we lost in extra time and a potential cash bonanza, we have showed enough to suggest we are better than an 8th place target, only if we realise our potential and invest in the squad****, time to cut the bungee. Cord and see where this team and management can take us, while they are here (I can see Falkirk failing laughingly yet again, think about it). My problem is a talented side only on one year deals (Watson aside apparently) , Management team on one year deals, Being in the Championship is where we should be, I do not ever want to darken league 1 again, The Excelsior is buzzing and so it should be, that is what is was built for, alright costs go up, tell us about it, but the prize money and additional crowds gate money is substantial and we really shouldn't be scrapping around with 15 or 16 players.. if so all of the above will be irrelevant and all this potential and positivity will disappear and we will end up unfortunately where we started with nothing and a lot of regrets... The time is now , look up don't look back, we all know we need a 2nd GK, our style of play means Josh gets caught in areas of the park and he will see red again due to it, our centre Half's including Hancock are very good on the deck, our Achilles heel is still cross balls and lack of aggression , yesterday we struggled with White all game and at times Graham last week, so an aggressive siege centre half, a replacement for Devenney who to be fair hasn't been involved much this season, but is still a major loss,, heard a few talking about a potential Stanway transfer at the game (Thistle want money for him, surely not). We know what we need to take baby steps further in the teams progression, will we get them, would you be shocked if I wasn't confident....
  19. A thistle fan I bumped into when out with the dog about 2 hours ago, he was right about McInroy last time we spoke.. FFS where else do random diddy team transfer rumours come from
  20. To be fair he does have his coaches badges...... In all seriousness Willie became a bit of a joke figure, but stepped into the breqch when we as a club were completely on our arse and nobody would look at us,, we have come a long way.... We had quite an enjoyable afternoon with him at the helm at Clifton hill did we not...
  21. Smith to Thistle is the latest I have heard, bit to be fair, it's about the only team he hasn't been linked with
  22. Interesting in that tournament you have to have a designated ground, with the B lowland League side being removed due to the well discussed fall out... I will take a shot in the dark and say Broadwood....
  23. So you are agreeing with me kenny_m, we are old hats at this game, Hold on we are not kicking the can down the road again are we, Loan window is end of September, You are going to run out of excuses soon.....
