I really rate MacDonald actually. He didn’t get the plaudits or attention McCann got last season, and while his performances weren’t quite as eye-catching going forward, I thought he was every bit as good and consistent in a solid defence that he very much played his part in. Disappointed he won’t be with us for longer as I thought he could turn into a real stalwart of our defence for years to come but have to be pleased that we’ve got something of a fee for him, we’ll get him back for the remainder of the season and that he’s got himself a move upwards. All the best to him.

Wonder if we’ll see another few similar moves given the current climate and the doubt there has to be over our league returning?

Probably players at most risk of moving on will be Robert,  McCann,Kerr and possibly Currie (who Dunfermline were after in the summer)

We've signed Kyle McDonald from you guys. What do you think of him?

Sounds like a Josh Edwards type signing.

Probably a little ahead of Edwards in his development,  Kyle is a modern attacking fullback who is far better going forward than actually defending, Hard working, no real pace or final ball, although we don't tend to flood the 18 yard box.....

A little bit surprised he is away, there are better full backs in league 1 than him..

Absolute shite bag performance today from that shower of pish. f**k all effort. Murray is clueless. He's fucking dreadful. That was predictable and Murray showing his ineptitude once again. He can f**k right off. He can take Millar which him who is clearly getting involved beyond his station and Murray is just a fucking puppet for him.

I am surprised you haven't realized this before,Murray is just a patsy,  he is working under a dictatorship with no control over signings, has no backroom team of his own and his hands are tied. That said we should still be beating Edinburgh although to be fair they have outplayed us twice away from home so it isn't a fluke.....

They're really going all out to get a bid for Robert in this window

What do the club do now,   play him and risk injury etc,  or wrap him in cotton wool awaiting a bid.....

Personally I don't think it is worth the risk in playing the lad,  The Agents are doing a fantastic job in promoting their asset to all potential suitors...

    Let's wait and see ....

He was - but the whole team were so it wasn't necessarily a fair or accurate portrayal of how good a player he's been for us. There were also Celtic scouts watching him that day apparently so I'm sure it was a deliberate ploy ;)

He's been getting a lot of hype and media attention. That is partly (perhaps mostly) because of who his father is. And with that comes lofty expectations and the perception that he 'must' be a great player. Expectations that are almost impossible to live up to. But it's important to remember - he's only 20 years old, never played first-team professional football before this season (I'm not even sure how often he trained with the first team at Montpellier if at all) and is still acclimatising to living in a foreign country, without his family for perhaps the first time in his life, in the middle of a deadly global pandemic. That's a lot to cope with for any player let alone one who has to live up to his surname whether he likes it or not. He's had his poor or quiet games - but which young player, particular wingers/attacking players, hasn't? If he wasn't foreign or Laurent Robert's son he'd get a lot more leeway but, either way, I still think he's done very well for us so far this season. 4 goals overall (3 in the league) isn't an awful return for a player in his first season in the game. Guys who have been around for years like Goodwillie only has 5, Brian Graham has 4 and Mitch Megginson has the most with 8 so he's not exactly miles behind a ton of better or more experienced players.

He's also shown himself to have a bit of skill, guile and creativity and that spark that can turn a game in your favour. When he's on his game you can already see he's playing below a level of what he's capable of. All of his goals and assists have had a touch of class or vision beyond what most players in this league could do. He needs to put it together every week but with game time, experience and full-time coaching and training I don't see why he can't. Remember as well he's also playing in a team that's ultimately not very good. Get him training and playing with a better squad of players and coaches and how good could he be already?

Thomas Robert has been a breath of fresh air this season and I would like to compare him with another mercurial talent we had as a young lad a certain Willie MacLaren,  Willie was sensational when he first broke into the team, to be honest MacLaren was streets ahead of Robert at this time,    The main difference why Robert will 'make it" is his advisors, The Mackays...  MacLaren had no advisors or good advice at all and basically spunked a career peaking at St Johnstone under Owen Coyle......  Robert has basically The next 3 years panned out for him , he will be given every opportunity on a plate and then it will be up to him if he really makes it....

The club rightly or wrongly are on good terms with the MacKays who trust us with there cash cow, we are really in a no lose situation here, we are becoming a media whore just like Billy Reid created at Clyde and Hamilton which we were pretty jealous of at the time..  Stuart Millar and the directors are working a blinder here ( I am still critical of his squad building though) we have signed Robert on a long term deal which basically means a value has been signed into his contract and will inevitably go if not this window then in the summer....  The figure at best will be 100 k - 150k max i would imagine .  Which would be a fantastic reward forthe club and we could possibly get another promising player in due course from the Mackays which they may see as investment in the club and getting to express their talent in due course......

Whether this arrangement is enough to get us into the championship is an entirely different debate..

Don't think any team can ever take anything for granted once you hit the playoffs, but even more so this year, as the Covid rules can mean a team could lose one or more star players in an instant.

Exactly the Browns were decimated out wide last week, which has nearly derailed there pretty impressive season..

If the Colts beat the Jaguars as expected, then they go to 11-5 and you would think into the playoffs. There is a but though, albeit a very unlikely one. If the Dolphins, Ravens, Titans and Browns all win then there will be 5 teams tied on 11-5 for 4 playoff spots. If it did happen, the Titans would win the AFC South, and the Dolphins, Ravens and Browns would be seeded 5th, 6th and 7th with the Colts missing out. Only 2 teams have ever missed the playoffs with an 11-5 record.

It's 4th v 6th in the Granite City as the Toonsers take on the Blue Toon.  The visitors go into the game with better form - seven points from the last five league games compared to Cove's four - so it's probably a tough one to call.  I don't think it's cold enough up here to prompt a Livvy-esque "frozen artificial pitch" situation so this one should be on.

Never mind the bolloks,   Big games still to come.  #Billsmafia

I can see why the management team wouldn’t be particularly upset by a postponement due an 18 year old recalled from East Stirling being our only likely starter up front.

We seem to have an attitude problem with this fixture. Clyde play it like a derby and have given Thistle plenty of bloody noses over the years I’ve followed the Jags.

Again this was the case at the start of the season, Clyde winning with a spirited and resolute effort from a squad barring Goodwillie that is full of players that wouldn’t look out of place in a mid table league two side. So far that game has shown up our lack of creativity and ability to finish any chances off. We have been more resolute in defence but when you struggle to score a goal a game in this shitshow of a division I’d rather see a more attacking line-up.

If the game beats the freeze (unlikely) McCall May have his hand forced on that front with Docherty a serious doubt after a midweek scan on the injury picked up last week. So may have to add a more attack minded player to the line-up. I dont see the need for two essentially defensive midfielders in this league.

    Prediction: Thistle P Clyde P

Is it not league rules that all clubs have to do as much as possible to get the game on, covers, undersoil heating etc,   I know the heating screws the pitch and costs a,small fortune.

Remember the SPL have some sort of ruling,  with our game off at ice station dumbarton, I was hoping to catch this one....

You do realise that false positives are proportional to the overall number of positive tests, meaning that genuine cases are still also increasing at a rate of knots? You're right, we don't know how bad it is - despite countless testimonies from NHS workers about a) how stretched they are, b) ambulances queuing outside of hospitals and c) how the Nightingale operation was disbanded due to staffing/resource issues, the government and the media are largely unwilling to come out and admit just how grim the situation is. This is only five days after Christmas as well, and judging by the amount of folk I'm seeing completely ignoring restrictions tonight it could be a very, very bleak few weeks. Another thing to consider is that the more prevalent the virus is, the more likely mutations are to occur. All it takes is one bad piece of luck and you're talking about a variant which we don't have a vaccine for, which has a very different profile of spike proteins and basically means that we have to choose between what we have just now in perpetuity, or just accepting that we have to compromise all the vulnerable in society for the 'greater good'.

As for restrictions, it is pretty much entirely the governments' (Scottish and UK) fault that we are where we are right now. You can blame China all you want, and they've obfuscated huge aspects of the initial outbreak and origins of the virus, but once it spread worldwide it then became about the response of each individual country. Ours has failed miserably, perpetually dragging its heels and displaying a reactive strategy throughout, one that's without any consistency in messaging and has left people completely disenfranchised. And that's just the tip of the iceberg regarding their behaviours, particularly in the case of the UK one.

To anyone who seriously thinks there is a conspiracy at work here and a "truth" to be found, I ask this: what exactly is there to be gained from measures being tougher than they have to be? There are people winning out of this virus, as there are when it comes to literally any situation, but economies are largely goosed and the fallout from this will last for decades.

And to think I was starting to be depressed simply by Clyde fans' over-the-top forecasts of doom.

My big concern is , the new variant has been around for 2 months, the government and scientists were aware etc,    Why were the gov and devolved govs happy for us to have a 5 day free for all at Christmas with little restrictions on place,   This apparent runaway train has been coming and if it wasn't for relative last ditch interventions by Gov medical advisors etc and scientists, we are staying oblivion straight in the face here,    Why were they prepared to throw us all under a bus,   Herd Immunity or looking for somebody to blame as in the great British tax payer...

Berwick Rangers one of my favourite awaydays, hopefully you have bottomed out and gradually fight your way back up...

I'm going to throw the name 'Paul Cook' into the ring, based on the fact I spotted him on the TansfrMarkt list of available managers, he's "desperate to get back in" to football,  he managed Sligo Rovers for a long time, so he's not afraid of relocating to 'foreign climes' (but he's a Scouser and has tended to manage Northern clubs so probably not an issue anyway)

So that's me with my somewhat-optimistic guesstimate of our next manager.

"You heard it here first" (I say, with about as much confidence as I have in White scoring a hat-trick against the Accies)

Does he not have. _ "Previous"

Really fucking annoying, but the chances of this game happening seem incredibly slim.   As I said I hope all measures have been explored and taken by the home club...

Reflects poorly on you lot, the amount of times this is happening, but hey ho, that's the way the mop flops. Any suggestion Dumbarton are actively wanting games aff is truly demented. The kind of suggestion you expect from Clyde fans, but should be below anyone else.     We bit of contradiction there Andy is it not..  Take off your Mother Theresa shroud ffs..

Must be even worse for yous, at least we only need to worry about it a cupla times. Every second week for yous. Used up our switcheroo card already and it bit us on the arse anyway, so a week off it almost certainly is. On the back of two good wins, though, it's even more annoying than usual.

I have literally no idea what Creaney was thinking there! I remember reading an interview with him saying he was bricking it in the tunnel waiting for the game to end - no wonder!

Saturday sounds extremely unlikely, sadly. I’ve pretty much written it off in my head.

Looking outside,  chances of Saturday's game look slim,   or have DUmbarton had covers down etc...    Do Dumbarton want the game on though....   Remember visiting there hungover big time in 2005 I think on New Years day,   Dumbarton won that day....

We have all seen Airdrie throw away leads in the past so that was positive today. Great that Josh Kerr scored the third- he could have blasted the shot but a clever finish and the boy deserves a goal. Could have  have got nervy when Clyde came back with their goals but we didn't. The next game is the big one - if we need to take ourselves seriously we need to beat Dumbarton.

Regarding David Hutton - great memories especially against Stenhousemuir and Celtic- and the boy was 100% - can't remember  who we were playing but remember he ran up to the centre circle to remonstrate about a tackle on one of our players.

Finally, my hat off to Ayr Diamond. I questioned his announcement of Hutton going - but he was spot on.

That's was the 4 - 3  Raith game , Iain Davidson of Raith elbowing Grant Gallagher,   Hutts hunted him down..

good keeper who I think is still our no 1 keeper,   Good luck wherever you end up,  a modern day legend... Or n ot

Delighted with the result but the game totally hinged on Falkirk having an off day in front of goal. It is evident that we are a team of counter-punchers who will get a result like this now and again. Trouble is the other side scores first and then we lose more goals chasing the game. Can't fault the effort of the boys today, they were excellent and deserve the win bonus. My real gripe is that Murray continues to set the side up against other sides in the league in a similar manner and hope for results from set pieces. Like Gary Bollan, this shows that he does not really trust the team to go out and express themselves in a positive way. The Falkirk commentary team pretty much agreed, saying that Airdrie's game plan worked 'today'...all a bit of a lottery for this side.

I suppose the defeats we had at home to Dumbarton and Montrose hinged on us having an off day as well....

Every team in this league playing away from home play the same tactics,

Fantastic much needed 3 points credit to Murray and the players..

I think we lack quality, but definitely think we lack experience/leadership too. Not in some hardman type or someone who goes round shouting at people, but I think just an experience of how to play at this level and how to react in games and manage games. Whenever we go behind we seem to panic and completely fall apart. I don't believe a team of experienced players would do the same. This isn't an argument to fill the team with League 1 journeymen by any means, we did that under Findlay and were still hopeless because we went too far in that direction. I think it is more an argument for that old cliche about 'blending youth and experience'.

The average age of our team last Saturday was 23, and that's as old as it can get really, apart from Hutton our oldest sub is 24. The average of the starting 11 that beat Falkirk a year ago was 25, so even though we have largely the same squad as last year we have lost a bit in that department. Crighton and Fordyce are the experienced heads in the team at 30 and 28. Sabatini and Robert knew nothing about this level until 3 months ago, McCann, Kerr and McDonald haven't completed a full season at senior level. So half our outfield haven't played a full season at this level. That's not an argument against any of the players, I think the issue is the mix, that's why we see the odd really good performance like Clyde or Forfar followed by complete rubbish. If Murray has no/limited say over the signings then this is the one area I do have sympathy for him.

Agree , I think the outcome with the squad that has been recruited is they  will be consistently inconsistent at best.....

Odd flashes of brilliance ,  but general mediocrity and shiteness or should I say the Airdrie way..
