The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23
Thenorthernlight replied to a topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Yip, this. Suspect we’re in for a disappointment though as Cormack has (deliberately) said a few times that our wage bill is higher this year than last. So the 4 players we need may not be incoming. We can offload a few. Kennedy, Campbell spring to mind. -
Hearts v Aberdeen

I’ve pretty much written the Hearts game off. If we have any chance of making the Europa Conference group stages & the €5m we’d get, then we’ll have a second string team out & the players will be knackered having only got to bed at breakfast time on Friday morning. In the grand scheme of things, Tynecastle matters not a f**k. -

Would rather we spent that amount on someone with re-sale value. -

Surely to Christ a quick call from Steven Gunn to Boyle’s agent off the record would have dealt with that in 60 seconds? -

You’ll never get that with McGinn & JET as part of a front 3. Here’s another thing. After we got humped 3-0 by Dundee Utd last season in the Cup, fatigue was blamed. Glass said he’d fix that in the summer so that we could play with a high intensity three games in a week. So, how come he’s dicked about with the team at Livi & at Raith? Made 13/14 changes? We got out of jail at Livi & got papped out one of the two tournaments we can win today because of it. Questions should be asked about that. He clearly hasn’t fixed it -

Sorry, I meant the League Cup, not the league -

I’d happily sacrifice the League for this season if we beat Qarabag and we are guaranteed at least £4m. But that’s a one-off. Domestic cups are what clubs like Aberdeen have to target big time. Resting 7 players in one of those tournaments was probably 3 or 4 too many. -

Pity Killie weren’t still in the top league. 12 guaranteed points a season for the Dons… well, actually 9, seeing as you were bottom 6. -

He’d be Killie’s best player by a mile #lowerleague -

He gave away the free kick. He dropped the man who scored from the free kick. He defended like a schoolboy at the 2nd goal, letting the ball come across him instead of clearing with his left. Basic stuff. He should’ve been sent off. Apart from that he was great. -

He cost us both their goals. No defending how abysmal he was in that 2nd half -

He’s shite, let’s be honest. At 26, he’s hardly played a senior game at a serious level. There’s a reason for that. He cost us both goals & the cup tie. The less we see of him, the better. -

Don’t want to come across as overly negative, but I’ve half written off Tynecastle. We’ll be back from Azerbaijan, a 9,500km flight from Asia, on Friday morning, and be knackered for the trip to Tynecastle just two days later and most likely rest half a team with a view to the 2nd leg against Qarabag. Tynecastle & Hearts matters not a f**k in the context of a €5m game against Qarabag. -

Give him 2 weeks to re-sign, if not, sell and replace -

I’d argue the Raith cup game is bigger than one league game against Hearts -

You may have missed the infringement- but that’s not your job. A linesman has ONE job. How he missed that beggars belief, but then again, with the standard of Scottish officials as bad as it is, maybe it’s no surprise. EDIT - for the smart arse replies, when I said “a linesman has one job” I meant at that specific time when the ball was headed back in to the box -

And your formed this opinion from what data? Professional footballers. There was a survey conducted by the SPFA. 90% said they were shite. So in other words, the people who use them & know. You’re welcome -

Only gets a job so the BBC can tick a box. Always gets basic things wrong. As for the game; - It was poor - How Sibbald stayed on I’ll never know. oh aye, cos Clancy is weak as piss. - Obviously got lucky with the winning goal but f**k it, we’ll take it. - Livingston will struggle big time this season, albeit I know their squad will get better in the next week or two. - Glass got away with one today. Don’t think we should rest as many as 6 or 7 at a tricky away fixture. -

Aberdeen being too cocky. 6 or 7 rested away to Livi is asking for trouble. Wake up call for Glass - his squad isn’t as good as he thought. -

Yes, I would want a move if I was him. The likes of Watford would give him life changing money that would set him up for life. And Aberdeen will let him move on…. When English clubs stop taking the piss, & his dinosaur agent (who I didn’t even know was still alive!) should be advising him this. To be fair it hasn’t affected Ferguson’s performances so far. If we get a bid of £3m up front with good add ons taking it up to £5m in time, & a 20% sell on clause, I’d take it. Aberdeen can bank half & re-invest in a couple of good players… The likes of a McGrath potentially, along with a central defender.
