    Wasn’t there, can someone summarise?

After an excellent headed flick on for Yates to volley home, the game became a bit of a nothingness for the next 60 mins. Sloppy play from both sides and not much quality. After the keeper cleaned out Aitken and he eventually scored the penalty, our greater quality began to shine through and we created a few good chances to extend the lead.

If Clyde add 4 or 5 mediocre (at worst) league 2 players, Elgin will finish bottom by a distance.

How will letting the club’s supporters know first (if that is the intention) not make it public?

Have we got to swear some everlasting oath of secrecy or something?

The last time the decision was explained at a supporters' meeting. When anyone then asked the reasons given, it was very hush, hush 'you weren't there!'.

I suspect the majority of Cowden fans are against B teams. Most fans love putting the boot into their chairman/board when they make a poor decision. There does seem a very strange unwilliness among Cowden fans to criticise the club as if that would be seen as being disloyal.

Great Results happening at the moment for you warriors. What's been the catalyst? New signings or the manager getting more out of what was there previously? Mixture of both? Best a luck anyway, good to see

A combination of factors. Some of them are as follows

    1. An excellent goalkeeper. The dross we've had for the last two years were costing us 10+ goals a season

    2. Buchanan has been a real upgrade on Crichton and has formed a great partnership with Nicky Jamieson

    3. Being 'fortunate' in signing the fullbacks Kinlay Bilham and Eden Lynch. Both were brought in as squadfillers and have massively outperformed expectations.

    4. More dynamism in central midfield. Nat Wedderburn looks more trim and we don't have Ross Forbes plodding about.

    5. Matty Aitken's work ethic and ability to hold things up, although isn't as good as it could be, is streets ahead of what Tam Orr was offering

    6. Having pacey/tricky wingers on both sides means we're less predictable when moving the ball out wide. Previously it was more obvious it was going left to Euan O'Reilly and teams could double up on him more easily.

    7. General team spirit. We had a pre season friendly in Jersey and the players had a night out together afterwards. I doubt there's usually a boozy weekend allowed during pre season and I think the players got to know and like each other very early on.

    8. We've been very, very lucky with injuries. We've got a small squad with litte depth but apart from Ross Taylor being out for about 6 weeks, I don't think anyone in the current best 13 has missed more than a game or two

    9. Naysmith seems like a sensible and well respected manager. He was able to immediately identify the flaws of the  team last year, initaially shore things up defensively and then bring in a decent calibre of player.

  4. In his one season with us, Lyon was pretty good. He was eventually replaced at right back by Adam Corbett (now first choice right back at Kelty) but had a period of doing a decent job at left back too. I think most people would have been happy to retain hin.

I'm surprised he's been so bad.

I went onto Fanbase to buy a ticket for Saturday's cup tie, and noticed that you are requested not to "sit in seats reserved for season ticket holders".

Does this mean (and I doubt it) that season tickets are valid for this game? Or is it simply a request to ensure that reguar season ticket holders can access their seats.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Season tickets aren't valid. It's just a general request not to sit in one with a season ticket sticker on the back. There will be plenty of free seats available!

Interesting, though I wonder how many fail to even get a draw when going behind.

It obviously changes year to year, league to league but as far as I can see it's about 17% chance of a draw.

I think coming back to get a point (or three) away from home is far, far, less likely than I thought it was.

  7. I had a look at some stats from various leagues/levels and if the home side scores first, the away team only win between 10 and 13 %  of the time.

From the info posted earlier, Dumbarton's win % is 10% when going behind away from home is probably what you'd expect.

Last night I was trying to find info about Stenny conceding first away from home and going on to win under John Coughlin. He was in charge for 3 years and I can only remember it hapening once! I have probably misremembered but couldn't find a site that showed the minutes the goals were scored.

That's seriously pessimistic, but I know what you mean.

Since we won in Cyprus, Norway have had two chances to drop points but haven't.  Similarly, we've had a chance to seal it, but haven't.

I'm still very confident we'll be in Germany, but if Norway win tomorrow, I will experience serious jitters.

We're good enough now, to still feel comfortable about taking points from our remaining games.  If we need to, however, it might feel tricky.

I support Stenhousemuir and Scotland so always expect the worst.
