  1. " If the existing board had followed this policy after the previous board’s fiasco, there currently wouldn’t be an East Fife.Their substantial financial input and the sale of land saved the club.It seems a bit much not to back them now ." I'm not sure what point you are making - I made no reference to any policy. I simply pointed out that the existing owner could make a contribution to help the club in these circumstances. That has nothing to do with what I agree is the good work by the current board. As far as backing them now I've just done that by making a couple of suggestions. I'm also a shareholder who doesn't see why the owner of the club shouldn't contribute too.
  2. The majority of the shares 102,000 or so are owned by Bayview Fife Ltd whose sole director is aged 51.
  3. It may be worth considering an early sale of season tickets. I know that simply delays the problem but it would help cashflow from now until the end of the season. At the same time the club should get its creative thinkers setting up income generating activities that don't involve physical attendance at events. I'd be very reluctant simply to contribute cash to a "Save EF Fund" unless there was a clear commitment from the majority shareholder Ms Twigg to contribute too - at least on a matching basis. Although the club means a lot to us and the community it is still under the private control of an individual and if she can't make the effort to help save her own asset then why should the ordinary supporter
  4. Disappointing especially after a 2nd half that we dominated. Poor finishing and some really poor final balls - I counted 6 that were overhit - meant we didn't really come close to scoring. Didn't have a clear view of the penalty so won't comment. Need to nail Montrose next Sat, especially if they win on Tuesday. Still in the mix for playoffs though.
  5. I suspect that if look back you'll find most EF strips have not featured black and gold stripes.
  6. When you make defensive errors such as those two we made for the Clyde goals and when you miss several clear-cut chances you can't complain when you lose. Aside from that the officials were truly woeful today - for both teams.
  7. Just listened to the John McGlynn interview and I certainly learned a lot He told us that attitude is important, that there is football in TV and people who are interested in it can watch the football on TV, and that the crowd can be a twelfth man. With insights such as those he is truly Renaissance Man.
  8. Airdrie thoroughly deserved to win because they wanted it more and had s clear coordinated plan for attack. 1st half we hit aimless punts from the back; 2nd we hit aimless crosses from the wings. Never looked like scoring. Poor/lack of misfiled play but most of all team were 2ndyo every ball and few players looked interested. Other factors in our defeat included an inability to pass to a team mate and a referee who missed a foul for the 1st goal and was conned into giving a penalty for the 2nd but even without that Airdrie were by far the better team.
  9. Truly awful display from East Fife but BSC thoroughly deserved their win. They kept going even when 3-1 down whereas we displayed a lack of commitment which combined with awful defending, a wheen of misplaced passes and an attitude that suggested our players just had to turn up meant we deserved to lose. We need a top display against Clyde on Tuesday or this could be the start of a plummet down the table. Best wishes to BSC in the next round and let's hope you get a rewarding draw
  10. I don't know who you are but I do know you're no supporter. No-one who claims to be a supporter of any team should describe a young player in such abusive and meaningless language I suggest that if you ever come to Bayview you identify yourself to the manager and player and express your view directly to them though something makes me think people like you would run a mile rather than do that
  11. It was the previous comment by KK I was referring to. I try to avoid pasting long quotes
  12. Some overeaction here. Today's performance was certainly not "horrendous". The defeat was self-inflicted in the sense we missed several chances and gifted then their goa. But it certainly wasn't horrendous as we created lots of chances and in the first half in particular played lots of attractive football. The amateur managers on here simply confirm they've made the right career choice.
  13. That includes a donation of £49k but still a fair financial year.
  14. Surely it's worth £20 to see the Mighty Fife?
  15. Hi Folks Levenmouth Rail Campaign are carrying out a very short survey among Hearts fans you you approach the turnstiles today. We'd be grateful if you can spare us 20 seconds to complete it.
  16. Cannae be bothered with this "must win the next game" nonsense. The only competition in which we may have an impact, other than a wee cup run, is the SPFL 1. We are a fairly small club competing with nine others, several of whom have greater resources than us. If we're going to be successful in the league it will be because we play well together as a team and we'll need a bit of time to do that. I think we have a good core of players who know each other and who might just blend well over the season. Some of us may remember the Jim Moffat promotion winning team that had no stars or really stand out players but who blended together fantastically well as a team. If we're going to reach the playoffs or better then that's what we need to happen again. Incidentally going on to public forums and slagging individual named players is unlikely to bring about any improvement though criticising tactics is fair game.
  17. Daryll Meggat highly likely to drop to juniors.
  18. Not sure how many people buy a season ticket to save money. We get ours partly because it guarantees the same seat and partly because it helps the club's cashflow.
  19. Ever the ray of sunshine! How long is it since we finished as high as this?
  20. Well guess that's the East Fife season over unless Montrose collapse. The season's been unusual in that we've had two lengthy periods, one of good form and the other of bad. If they'd been in the opposite order we'd probably all feel a bit happier! As it is we still can finish higher in the SPFL than we have done for some years, we've a fair number of players signed and we have a manager providing continuity. Roll on next season.
  21. There's a chap near to where sit whose continual shout is "Cmon Young, get it sorted". His record is shouting it after 3 mimutes 47 seconds. And yes, I timed him :-)
  22. I see there's the usual suspects accusing the club of "lack of ambition" and demanding the manager gets the boot. I'm quite clear that the ambition this season, as always, is to maintain a viable club that is not going to go bust and the current board have achieved that - from a pretty bad situation a few years back. In footballing terms it was to remain in League 1 and we've done that with still a possibility of getting more points than last season. I'm not quite sure what other ambitions are feasible given the finances available to the club but perhaps the critics will be able to identify where the resources would come from that would enable us to get to and more importantly (cf Brechin) stay in the Championship. Mind you when "supporters" publicly state they're not going to attend matches it doesn't help. As far as the manager is concerned I'm not sure what benefits would be gained through his removal. I've been at most games, H&A and it's been clear that the many defensive errors we've seen are as result of players not doing their job right. Now unless you think that the manager is deliberately telling to act the way you do it's hard to see how it's his fault. He was appointed in pretty urgent circumstances not long before the start of the season and so had little opportunity to plan with his choice of players. There's a "supporter" whose voice can be heard every game bawling " Cmon Young, get it sorted", as if he were't aware of the problem. Mind you I've never heard the same guy do anything but criticise so maybe he's compensating for a sad home or work life! In any kind of business if you're going to change something important you need to be pretty clear about how the change will improve matters. That applies to football as well as everything else. Simply binning a manager is not an answer. Finally, (rant nearly over) as far as the future of the club is concerned I'm much more concerned about the legacy planning re the board and ownership. Five of the current board are 70+ and while they've done and are doing a great job what happens when they start to become "unavailable"? Is there a plan to bring in younger directors with the same commitment and willingness to put their hands in the pocket as these guys? Will the holding company owned by Samantha Twigg just stay as passive owners? Will there be an attempt to transfer ownership to a CIC or similar? There's no legal requirement for the board to respond to these questions but there's certainly a moral requirement, especially as the club is increasingly positioning itself as a community organisation .
