Yip, fair point
That said, someone born in England supporting the opposition at Wembley will probably be doing so due to their ancestry rather than the club they support. I think that is likely to be unique to Scotland.

only in Scotland will you find people born here supporting nations against us....madness.
I'm sure it happens in loads of countries, England for starters.

I was only there last night because I have bought the five match package and after that game am seriously considering whether to just go for the individual matches in future and avoid any friendlies (especially ones that see the Govan songbook brought out).
It seemed the flattest atmosphere pre match that I have seen in a while and I feel that the SFA missed a trick in not reducing prices for this game to get a full house. The fans have spent plenty recently on tickets, travel & accommodation for the summer and it would have been a great gesture to give the supporters reduced admission. The best seats in the stadium (South Upper) were not even available for sale and that section was empty last night.A few of my mates took out the 5 matcher (as I have previously) but when this fixture was announced I had a feeling it would be an awful experience on and off the pitch, so was happy to save 30 quid and sacrifice the SSC point.

Indeed...insanely optimistic, cheerfully deluded, and if you think that wriggling out of the group (which we won't do anyway) would make this Scotland team better than the 1928 Wembley Wizards or the 67 or 77 Scotland teams then that's an opinion alright..
In 1992 we finished 5th at the Euros.

Yip, totally agree with this.
It's a year since we beat Spain and there's a good argument that we've been in decline ever since. That win in Oslo was tremendously exciting, but it wasn't deserved; it was absolutely freaky. It was the decisive match in qualifying, and we made heavy weather of it from then on, even before this run of friendlies.
The rogerings from England and France weren't pretty, but at least mealy mouthed excuses were available. We've run out of even them now though.
We look like a team that's past the peak, similar to Scotland at Argentina 78, although if we were to get the same results as then we'd probably qualify out of our group.

Maybe we should re-use the 1954 World Cup tactic of giving up players' seats on the plane to accommodate the blazers' wives?

I wouldn't recommend using True for a Spandau Ballet song on Pointless.

Because when I asked my kid how terrifying that picture was as the mouth of a penguin, she said “thats a leatherback sea turtle’s mouth”. Turns out she’d done a project on turtles last year. Being a typical parent, I didn’t believe that and tin eyed it, and it confirmed that’s what it was. Tin eye is sweet…matches pictures across the internet, great for busting faked stuff.
Teenage student she know turtles.

Porteous fell asleep near the end and never closed a guy down quick enough but otherwise was okay.
Looked to be caught in no man's land for the opener as well.

You could pretty much write it now. Plucky performance in the opener with the hosts, where we lose to a late goal, but put in a performance that has everyone saying “do that against the other two and we’ll be fine”. Spirited draw with Switzerland. Unlucky defeat to Hungary.
From experience the first two will be right, but we'll take a bedshitting horsing in the must win final game.

I've got a trip planned the day after the Switzerland game to have a shot on the Wuppertal Schwebebahn. Based on last night it could be the highlight of the Euros.
Have to ask though, a 53 mile drive from Troon to Glasgow Airport at 5am? Well seeing he prefers to take the train!
