  1. Joe Hart is not (and never has been) good enough to be a world class goalkeeper. He's nowhere near the quality required to be an elite level player.

But, objectively, he's miles ahead of anyone else in this league other than Gordon and McGregor. Anyone outside of Rangers or Hearts fans who says they wouldn't swap their goalkeeper for him is at it.

Coming away from city life to the Highlands might be a good idea for him.

You've obviously not been to Inverness for a while, Frank. It's probably got a higher "belter per capita" ratio than Glasgow.

And that's before we include all the shire folk who descend on the city for a Friday and Saturday night out.

Not accepting Goodwin above McPake though. McPake was playing in the English Championship for a sizeable chunk of his career... Goodwin's only season at English Championship level was when his Scunthorpe side were papped straight back down to League One.

Goodwin has more appearances in the Championship according to Soccerbase yXAbrOQ.png

Inverness city center has had its traffic system altered to accommodate social distancing by extending the pavement out onto the roads and marking them with bollards. I have to take some photos of this, its nuts how much space is used.

It's been great. Much more space for pedestrians.

  5. On the other hand, there's nothing to suggest that he's going to be particularly good. His spell at Wigan was rubbish and he left Cardiff in 2013.  Working "behind the scenes" and working as a first-team coach are two very different skillsets. Bringing in players from Man City and Southampton is obviously something that he brings to the table with his contacts; but if he's a hopeless manager then those contacts aren't worth a damn.

He won't be sacked this season though. We could be bottom on Hogmanay and he'll still be in a job. The club can't really afford to keep sacking managers and having no coherent medium-term plan. Plus MacGregor would lose too much face over it.

  6. I have no idea how the "bubble" works for players but I suspect the club have identified signings and they've fallen through when they've realised that they'll be moving up to Inverness or Dingwall and maybe not guaranteed to see their family that often.

I think Hughes said he didn't go back down the road at all during his 5 or 6 months. And was that not Mullin's issue? That he wanted to be back with his family full-time?

  7. Enjoying hearing and reading the revisionism of how England weren't even fancied for this tournament.

They were second favourites with most bookmakers and widely touted, alongside Belgium, as being the best of the rest behind France by a number of pundits and commentators.

Italy were 11/1 to win the tournament with some places.

Love to watch a player like that who looks like the ball is magnetically attracted to his feet. Loads of times I was convinced he’d lost the ball and it just kept following him.

Declan Rice having two or three digs at him and Chiesa still wriggling away with the ball was sublime.
