  1. I switched over last night and watched something else at half-time because it was just so boring. Checked WhatsApp to see we were 1-2 down and assumed it finished 1-2 (saw the final score on Twitter this morning).

I've been quite apathetic this season. There's a disconnect without being able to get to games, and I can count on one hand the number of full games I've watched this season. It's less than the number I've started then turned off out of boredom.

There's a big clear out needed at the club. Coaching staff get given cushty gigs because of who they are, rather than any evidence of them being decent coaches. We've had more shite managers over my time watching the club than good ones so I'm not holding out much hope that the next appointment is going to be a good one.

The squad is dreadful. And we've had rubbish, unbalanced, bloated squads for the past four or five years. I can't remember the last time we had a decent left-back or left-sided midfielder. The vast majority of this squad need binned. If I were Jason Naismith I'd be frantically looking for another club because he's far too good to be playing with these players.

Hughes has improved us but he's rubbish.  Like Coyle, he's yesterday's man but County inexplicably give him the gig. He doesn't know his best system or his best team.

The worst part of it is that regardless of survival or relegation is that nothing changes! Stay up and we continue with the treading water approach. Go down and it's the same as last time - short term thinking to bounce back straight away. I got no enjoyment out of the last Championship winning season, it was underwhelming.

TL;DR - we're shit, I'm underwhelmed with everything about the club at the moment, and apathetic about relegation.

  2. If I wanted plausible thought-provoking television then I wouldn't be watching Line Of Duty. I'd stick on The Wire instead.

It's the most clichéd, one-trick, hackneyed, drama on TV. It's big, dumb, blockbuster fun. And I enjoy every moment of it.

  3. A point at home to Austria - a team that are probably better than us - isn't shitting the bed. It's a decent result.

A point in Israel is disappointing. But the pant-wetting "It's all over! Clarke out!" stuff is an overreaction.

Chopping and changing the manager every three years isn't a particularly effective solution.

  4. Footballer: *plays for my team*

Me, a simp football fan: "LITERALLY THE NICEST MAN EVER"

I've encountered a few footballers in a previous job. Most of them were very nondescript (which was good). A couple stuck out as being noticeably polite. Several were arseholes. If they were out in groups then I did my best to avoid engaging with them because their patter was terrible (although I suspect that feeling would probably be mutual).

  5. I'm a bit concerned about this. Lower league teams tend to raise their game against Premiership opposition - for some Inverness players it'll be the biggest game of their careers.

Equally concerning is that it might be an audition for some faceless clogger in a FlyBe jersey. A decent performance and they'll earn a place on the County bench next season.

  6. Yes and I thought my point was pretty obvious too. The current government aren't going to care if the Scotch are outraged. They simply do not, and will not, care.

A number of folk on here appear to be living in some weird fantasy where "international pressure" forces the UK government into conceding a referendum.  It's not at all realistic.

An independence referendum isn't going to happen during this current government's lifespan; be that until 2024 or 2029.

  7. Aye we're obviously better than we were but the squad is mostly rubbish. Hughes isn't totally at fault for that but the January window was frustrating. Naismith was an excellent signing but other than that? We didn't really strengthen in the right areas. We didn't get any worse off but we weren't any better off either.

Andreu has been rubbish and pointless given Spittal came back and looks okay (he's not great but at least he runs about and tries to pass the ball forward). White has been mostly rubbish too (but he scored against Celtic!). Oli Shaw was looking like a guy who could be a 10 goal a season forward and he's been dropped.

Maouche has been an unfortunate one. Signed. Then returns to France for personal reasons. Then presumably returns and has to quarantine. But he's another midfielder.

There's no genuine left-back. The centre-backs are dreadful. We'd actually have the basis of a decent back five in Naismith Grivosti Morris Hjelde (plus a left back) but two of them are always breaking down.

There's no width going forward either. Gardyne has been reasonably good this season but you can't be relying on him as the main source of width. Hylton has been inexplicably dropped. And Charles-Cook has been rubbish but he's not had a consistent run in the team, so it's not entirely fair to judge him on 20 minutes here and there.

The midfield is a mess. Spittal, Lakin, and Paton are basically the same player. That's not necessarily a criticism but they all do the same job. The other three or four..  I prefer not to speak.

It's all a bit familiar. There's elements of Coyle, late-stage McIntyre, and Kettlewell.

I still think County will stay up but there needs to be a serious overhaul if we don't want to be in the same position this time next season. You could easily bin 10 players and be no worse off.

  8. This is the same Michael Stewart who, last summer, drew an equivalence between statues of slave owners and the statue of the Duke of Sutherland. It was tasteless and tone deaf.

This incident wasn't really the time or place to keep with his "Look at me! I'm a contrarian!" shtick.
