  1. This was my position.

I'm a big advocate of the 'Well Society and have paid in a decent amount every month for god knows how many years, but I voted 'Yes' I would consider outside investment. It seemed short sighted to completely disregard any offer before we knew the details, but I was 99.9% sure I would vote down any proposal as an offer I personally would find acceptable probably isn't realistic in real life/the business world.

I fully support the Society and would love nothing more than for them to put a successful business plan together to generate more revenue, but I do have my reservations - absolutely not with the newer board members - but more around how much more we as a fanbase/local community can realistically contribute. I'm willing to give them every opportunity to try though.

I cant deny that I am quite intrigued by how EB's skillset and connections could benefit the club, but there's not a chance in hell I'd vote for the current offer.

  2. Leave tomorrow morning for 12 days.

Edinburgh to Zurich via London City, and then a train from Zurich to Nuremberg where we're basing ourselves for the duration.

10am train from Nuremberg to Munich on Friday morning to get the party properly started! Cannae wait!

  3. Last week I was probably teetering on the edge of being one of these Negative Norman's Clark was speaking about, but now we're only a few days out I'm more optimistic.

I appreciate the jeopardy is higher with it being a tournament, one off games and at neutral venues, but for talking's sake if we ended up in a qualifying group with Switzerland and Hungary I'd be confident we could get through so no reason why we can't take anything from both those games if we play how we can. Germany will obviously be tough and anything we can pick up will be a bonus but we're good enough to cause them problems...you just never know.

Posted elsewhere, but maybe this is a better place:

I would assume most people have booked for the group stages - curious if Scotland get out of the group stage, do people plan to extend their stay, fly back out for games or watch on TV?

I'm flying home on the 25th but would definitely fly back out if we had a weekend game in the knockouts. If it's a week day I'd need to see what the work situation was like but I should get a ticket with my SSC points so I think I'd have to make it work one way or another.

  5. Day out for the Taylor Swift gig tomorrow 😎 then ‘working’ until Wednesday before flying out early on Thursday. Managed to get most of what work needed done last week, so next week will be 3 days of fake meetings in the diary and a couple of working from home days so I can read P&B and get this Euros Fever cranked up to 100!

I'm doing Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, aye, to say I'm looking forward to it is an understatement. Will be making it up to the missus for quite some time, I imagine...

Nice one! We've got tickets for all 3 games as well but staying in Nuremberg for the duration and getting trains to the games. Seems reasonably central and was far cheaper for accommodation than the host cities.

Same here, I'm being forced into booking a holiday this weekend with the Mrs for September in order to keep the peace. The credit card is taking an absolute battering.

  7. Class. I’ve always had a soft spot for Auxerre due to some random FM saves about 15 years ago. They had a class team in the early/mid 00’s but spent most of the last 10 years in Ligue 2. They got promoted 2 years ago and immediately relegated again on the last day of the season, but bounced back by winning the league this year.

Ligue 1 would be a good move for big Theo.

  8. The Jambos rarely go wrong with their home top as long as they stick to a simple, classy effort and that one ticks the boxes. Just enough about it with the stripes so it looks classy rather than boring.

A good effort from Saints too. I usually think their tops are either boring or look like something picked straight out of a cheap catalogue for Sunday League teams but that one is decent.

Surely that just literally means there is an aisle between you where the block changes?

I didn't even consider that it might be just across a stairway 🤦‍♂️ but with the seat numbers being 1-4 it would seem odd that a section only has 3 seats in a row before changing.

I'll try and get hold of a stadium plan with individual seat numbers and check it out.

  10. It's all starting to get a bit real!

Block 130 for Germany, N4 for Switzerland and 34A for Hungary.

Only annoying thing is that for some reason my 3 mates who are in my 'seating group' thingy are together in section N5 for Switzerland and I've been papped by myself in section N4 for some reason - albeit in the same row and with the next seat number which seems odd (e.g. they are row 13 seats 1-3 and I am row 13 seat 4 but the next section along). Bit annoying but hoping some kind soul might let me do a wee seat swap on the day.

We have seven CB's (including KT) though. So six to compete for two places essentially as KT will be gauranteed to start at LCB, is that really necessary?

You would think out of the 26 to lose their spots, Kelly will be a cert. A Doak/Forrest would be most at risk but i'm hoping it will either Souttar or Cooper.

I know what you mean re the centre backs, but I’d be pleasantly surprised if KT can manage 3x 90 mins in the space of a week so not overly surprised we’ve gone heavy on the numbers there. Especially with Hanley, Cooper and Soutter all having missed chunks of games recently.

Kelly and one of Doak, Armstrong(fitness) or Forrest  to drop out.

I think the think with Bair is that for all you can make the argument that it's a "good 6 months" or whatevs, he's still relatively young and you can equally make the argument that he wasted a year in Perth with a collection of absolute diddies on the coaching staff who apparently didn't know what to do with him.

Very fair point this. Although he’ll be 25 by the time next season starts, in terms of actual minutes on the pitch/playing experience, big Theo is still very much in the learning and developing stage. Absolutely no doubt he’s got all the physical tools.

We replaced Kev in the aggregate, so this year we're going to have to manifest a 20 goal season from a striker to replace them with a unit.

That’ll be absolutely no bother for us. As you highlighted on a recent pod, it’s literally impossible for Motherwell to not have a striker in double figures for goals every season.

  14. Love big Theo and he seems like a lovely guy but if someone is willing to chuck £1m at us for a guy who’s essentially had a good 6 months in his career then we’d be daft not to take it. I’m not 100% convinced he’ll do the same numbers next season so with his contract situation as it is, now is the best time to sell.

Replacing Bair and Spittal’s goal and assist numbers is going to be a challenge but suppose it’s another name for Ketts to add to his sales pitch of improving players to potential incomings.
