Aye, I expect Maguire and one of Lamie/Bevis are the prime suspects. You’d think Maguire has Dave, Slattery, Paton, Miller and potentially Butcher ahead of him for 2 midfields spots along with Spittal, so unlikely to get many minutes. I’d expect our back 3 to be McGinn, Casey, Blaney with Butcher another option when fit with SODS and Mcginley as emergency back up. Having 2 senior CB’s are 4th/5th choice options seems overkill. I think Mcginley might hang around with Soare only on a 6month deal and Wilson completely untested at this level.

Based on this from Scott Burns, McGrath is a non-starter for us. We’ve got Spittal anyway.

Aberdeen signed Miovski last season who is North Macedonian but the picked him up from the Hungarian league, I think.

Doidge would have been a great signing about 3 seasons ago but that knee(?) injury he had has absolutely finished him at this level. Looks like he can barely run at this point.

Similar to you, I'm keen to stay somewhere new. I've done Duisburg, Dusseldorf, Dortmund and Berlin in the past, so if anyone else has any tips on a good base in NRW it'd be great to hear. We are currently looking at either Cologne, Bonn or Wuppertal. Cologne is probably the first choice at the minute but is definitely the most expensive so we're also considering cheaper digs in Bonn or Wuppertal and just getting the train into the nearby host cities for games/days out.

Tait was a great player for us during a pretty enjoyable period. Quite surprised to see him retire at 33 as he’s obviously insanely fit from all his CrossFit stuff and could still have done a job for a bottom 6 or top end Championship side.

Did it ever get confirmed what McGinley’s injury was that kept him out for so long? The comments from Ketts and the reaction from other players on social media about his comeback make it seem like it was pretty serious (stating the obvious considering he was out for 15 months!).

Sorry to bring this up again but there's not much else to talk about right now, so to get the old rumour mill going again, I saw Louis Moult re-posted an insta story from his Mrs last night of them having dinner at Amarone... I imagine there's probably a few Italians called Amarone across the UK so it could easily have been a restaurant down south, but there's three in Scotland in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen... Bring him home etc.

No, you're right, the opening game is in Munich. The flight I'm looking at gets in at 9am and google tells me its a 3.5 hr train from Frankfurt to Munich, so if I'm unlucky and it ends up being Germany vs Scotland in the opening game it's still possible to make it I guess. Or I could play it safe and head out on the Thursday which is probably the more sensible option.

I'm going to take the plunge this week and book a flight out. One way flights to Frankfurt on the opening day are still pretty cheap at the moment. All going to plan I should be on 12 points by the time the tournament kicks off which should hopefully give me a decent shout at getting tickets...I think!

I really like it. Always been an advocate for a traditional/simple home kit and then do something different and/or daft with away/3rd kits. This certainly fits the bill. It's got a good theme and looks much better in the picture of Clarkson wearing it than in the headless, white background photo on the last page.

I'd have taken Obika over Mandron every time. A decent squad option and seems like a good guy. Fine.

Aye, I don’t think the ‘moon-howling’ comments really relates to those who hope we could get a bit more for Kev, that’s a fair enough opinion to have. It’s more aimed at the absolute moon units on twitter and their reaction to what, at the minute, is just rumour. I’ve seen one guy saying that as a society member he’ll be telling the board to knock it back and hold out for more (cos that’s how it works obv), and another calling us ‘spineless, gutless shitebags’ if we accept £500k… I mean, cmon to f**k Fwiw, I think £500k plus some achievable add on’s is about what I expected.

Aye, it’s frightening the difference between your power league jobber and even a semi-pro/part time player. A few years ago I played a weekly game of 11’s through here in Edinburgh and occasionally during breaks in the season ‘friend of The Terrace’ Danny Denholm would come along and play. There were a few decent players in that game but even him in half arsed off-season mode (and playing at CB) was miles and miles ahead of anyone else.
