  1. Has Sean Crighton got a bet on for Forfar to score? In front of Grant Anderson and doesn't jump. Stoops down and allows the boy to score. Terrible defending. As for Jack McKay - you're playing with 10 men. He should be huckled off now.
  2. I'll take the point. First half was equal with two differences - a good finish from Ballantyne and Webster, who was causing us problems all half, never gave up and got his cross in resulting in a clinical Sean Crighton finish - shame it was into our goal. 2nd half , we were far the better team but our final ball/finishing was honking. When their keeper saved from Thomson I really thought that was that, but give the team credit, they never gave up and it just shows you how crazy football is when a keeper who looks kind of solid and makes an excellent save 7 minutes beforehand makes a complete baws of Sean Crighton's less than clinical cross - not that I was complaining. Unbeaten in 3, and still in there. The most telling part for me is the number of players that ran towards Murray after we equalised. Like him or not, he hasn't lost the dressing room and the players still have that buy in. Need full points from the next two though.
  3. The 3 man substitution would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Desperate stuff, no thought behind it, no tactics behind it. Nothing. Just lump on 3 bodies. Hartley, on the other hand, spots the weaknesses and where its not working for him and subs accordingly, changing the game and within minutes, they are one up. My night cant get any worse - unless someone tells me that Jack and Paul McKay are part of triplets.....
  4. For the first 30 odd minutes there was nothing in it between the sides but once Thistle scored their first, the bottle crashed and game was the inevitable bogie. As for Murray saying "the scoreline didn't reflect how well we played and how hard we worked" - it sure didn't reflect the scoreline because Thistle could have scored at least 3 more - and that's before we went down to 10 men. Let's be blunt, the scoreline flattered Airdrie big style. Promotion play offs - not a chance unless there is some kind of miracle turnaround. And I can't see it. Regarding a change of manager this season - I don't think it will make a difference. It's too late for a change in personnel. Next season - the board has a choice. Say ta ta to Murray or keep him on. Murray has several "excuses" for him to be kept on - covid-19 disrupting another season, him not having control of the signings made by Millar in charge of recruitment and him not having an assistant with the club binning Colin Cameron. However, his selections and tactics are questionable to say the least (I am being kind) and the mere fact that he has been allowed and not fought his corner in getting an assistant (Murray has always worked better with an assistant by his side - ie with Jack Ross at Dumbarton) for the remainder of this crucial season, makes him look weak tactically and personality wise. Based on what I witnessed this afternoon - we aint going anywhere and at the very best we will be staying in this league - if we are lucky. Next season - my guess - Ian Murray will be allowed to build his "own team" before being gubbed several times, and with Airdrie languishing in the bottom half of the league, he is given the heave ho. The joy of being an Airdrie fan..
  5. Stupid tackle by Turner that gave the referee a decision to make - a referee that isn't frightened to flash a red card. I can only assume Turner's adrenaline got the better of him. Backs against the wall from the 4th minute although our shape was good in the 1st half and there was nothing in it really between the teams. 2nd half, Peterhead stepped up the pace and when they went one up, game was a bogie. Later substitutions reeked of desperation and whatever shape we had disappeared. Big game next week against Thistle - no Turner, potentially no Roberts. Time for a beer......
  6. 4 at the back McKay - Crighton - Fordyce - McCann "Diamond" shape midfield - Ritchie defence Mid, Roberts Left Mid, Carrack Right, Turner attacking Mid, two up top Gallagher and Connell.
  7. He mentioned that he thought McKay could play in a number of positions including right full back and wing back but he didnt hint that he would be playing that position on Saturday or would be first choice. If he is taking a reduced squad up to Peterhead because of covid restrictions Jack McKay might not even make the bus. Sad news about Kerr - hopefully we'll see the boy next season. Anyway, I am just glad to have the Diamonds to watch at the weekend Hopefully I'll still have my positive head on at 16.45 Saturday evening - truth be told I'll be probably scratching my head at 14.00 when I see the team selection....
  8. Brilliant signing. Is he allowed to play on Saturday or are there any Covid restrictions regarding him joining from another club?
  9. You are spot on, especially if we go one down. We haven't got an individual or individuals that can come off of the bench and change the game for us - or at least do something a bit different to influence it. As it stands, if we go one down, games a bogey - irrespective who comes on
  10. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/airdrie-players-immaculate-condition-prepare-23715016 So it looks like there will be no more additions to the squad. Well, to have any chance of winning this league we will have to go on a winning run from Saturday winning near enough all of the remains games ( I am basing this on a 18 game league scenario). Based on past performances after breaks, we don't usually come out the starting blocks at any speed - we usually trip over our laces and fall on our arses - see Edinburgh City in the Cup after our winning our previous games against Falkirk and Clyde. So, not getting too excited about going on a winning run starting on Saturday - hope I am wrong though. No, I think play offs (hopefully for promotion...) Is a more realistic target, with us building up some good form before the play offs start to give us a chance of competing being the target for the team. Anyway, I now have something to look forward to for the next couple of Saturdays - watching the Diamonds and having a couple of hours away from the wife...
  11. I am assuming that training has commenced again but radio silence from the club. A bit of communication wouldn't go amiss or folk start to speculate. It ain't rocket science. What about an update Airdrie?
  12. Made himself totally unemployable...Sportscene awaits.
  13. Terrible performance. Not at the races from the word go. Too slow, midfield non existent, didn't win contest any second balls. Perhaps the players thought they just had to show up today. Well they were shown up today by a well organised Edinburgh City team who had a game plan and who stuck to it. We had no game plan. And when you see Sean Crighton playing up top, you know the games a bogey - game wise and tactics wise. Amateur stuff.
  14. Pitch inspection at 10.00. Further pitch inspection at 11.00. Guessing there waiting to see an improvement of the surface. Fingers crossed.
  15. Thanks for the opportunity. Evan played under Jimmy Bone and Alex MacDonald. What were the big managerial differences between Jimmy and Doddie? And can Evan shed any light on why Jimmy left after getting us promotion? Chapelhall Chap, Last game of the season against Raith in May 1991 - think we had to win to get promoted in 2nd place? I know it was close between us and Dundee. Anyway, the longest football game in my life. It seemed to go on forever. But what scenes and jubilation at the final whistle. Did big Evan not score around the first 5 minutes of the game?
