  1. To be honest, I don’t think any extra step in the pyramid which essentially relegates every team below League 2 is fair or appealing in any sense. The pyramid was opened up so that L2 could be the league that features LL and HL teams. Introducing another step isn’t necessary. As far as the B teams go, just reintroduce a competitive reserve league.
  2. In response to the downvote here, I'd just like to make it clear that I do not want the conference league to be a thing that happens. As far as I know, no other fan of Clyde or any other club for that matter wants it. It just looks glaringly obvious to me that the Clyde board are choking to vote 'yes' because it puts one more step between us and oblivion.
  3. No surprise that we appear to be attempting to tilt the owners in favour of voting in favour of the Conference League given that it's one more barrier stopping us from dropping into the Lowland League.
  4. I noticed Tom Lang is leaving you - not sure if it's been mentioned here but did you rate him? Is he leaving because he turned down an offer? I was really interested in seeing how his career went after he left Clyde. He was great for us but it's obviously difficult to gauge how that translates to teams higher up the ladder.
  5. Gregor Buchanan is leaving Dumbarton. I would like to think we're taking a look at that. I always thought he'd played under Duffy but he signed for both Morton and Dumbarton just after Duffy left.
  6. This is the thing. We're looking for a very different type of coach now than if we had canned Lennon at the end of last season rather than giving him a new deal. Brian McLean is coming to the end of his playing career and wants to move into coaching. We're not even looking for a manger, we're looking for a head coach to work under Jim Duffy. I don't want it to be McLean, but appointing him makes sense in this model. I can't imagine an experienced manager will want to come to a L2 club to essentially work as a number 2.
  7. I'd be surprised if we don't offer terms to Joe McKee - played under Duffy at Morton and Dumbarton and has recently been freed. I'd probably take him if that's a possibility.
  8. With this - if Mullen had been offered a real but rejected it, does that protect our right to compensation? You'd think with the likes of Mullen, Salkeld and Roberts we would have at least offered terms even if the chances are they'd have told us to bolt. Also re: Salkeld - (likely unfounded) whispers that he's been offered terms by one of the borders clubs given where he lives. I'm assuming that'll be Annan and not Queens if true?
  9. Agreed. He seems sensible, and drinking from a chalice that’s so obviously poisoned doesn’t seem like it would be a wise move. I don’t really want it to be McLean, but knowing Clyde, appointing him would make the most sense. I just hope we don’t rush into appointing him without at least seeing who applies first.
  10. Out of interest - who are our picks for managerial candidates? Not entirely against McLean, but he's never managed before so he's not my first choice. It would be interesting to see if we approach someone like Gordon Moffat at Clydebank. Not sure there's too much else he can do with the Bankies - admittedly 4th place isn't a great finish but I feel like over the piece he's certainly proved to be capable of the step up.
  11. Looks to be shaping up fairly well. I've heard James Berry is a lovely footballer. One of the few bonuses re: knowing where you're playing the following season is being able to do business early. Quite jealous as Clyde don't even have a manager installed at this point.
  12. It's obviously quite possible yeah. I am however very frustrated with my club. Please don't derail my moaning with logic or reason. This is neither the time nor the place.
  13. Other clubs announcing the signings of our players before we've heard a peep from the club is shambolic.
  14. Good player on his day but very injury prone. Went through a period of only scoring against East Fife. 17 goals in 90 appearances doesn't make for good reading either. To be honest though, it's hard to give a good read on whether Clyde players are actually good or not given the general malaise and poor standards from top to bottom.
  15. This is it. 10/10 statement too considering the man supposedly responsible for scouting the poor players in question is called “Diamond”.
  16. I just listened to the latest Open Goal episode with Michael Tidser, and he said a player with a year left asked him for a move out the blue. Surely this is what he's referring to. Great signing if he stays fit, not looking forward to him ripping our defence to shreds if he does.
  17. The problem is, there’s no exact science to it. The aforementioned Joe Bevan was very good for Camelon, came to us on trial but was passed over. He then signs for the Rovers and scores 9 goals in 17 games for a team that got relegated and as a consequence probably gets another team in L2. Scott Williamson and Jack Healy looked good for QP after coming straight from Camby and Arthurlie. You then have Will Sewell who scored barrel loads for Largs, proper 40 goals a season stuff. He signs for Stenny and turned out to be poor. Same with Danny Burns at Stirling. And of course, Rodden. It’s an absolute lottery. We do have an intensely terrible recent hit rate with bringing players from the juniors/LL though. Statistically we should have had one decent boy in the past decade but I honestly can’t think of one recent success.
  18. Great player but just signed for Johnstone Burgh along with Graham Dorrans. Just shows you what we’re competing with.
  19. I honestly think if Duffy was leaving, we'd have heard straight away. The board can't make an announcement that he's staying because they know (most) fans don't want him and after getting relegated on Friday, it's too soon to drop the bombshell. I'm expecting that the announcement that he's staying will be in the form of a shit sandwich statement this week, such as: "The club can today announce that XYZ crap players contacts have expired and they will be leaving the club. *under breath, perhaps whilst coughing* Manager Jim Duffy, who has also agreed to lead the club into the 23-24 campaign, said "blah blah hardest part of the job blah blah". The club is however delighted to announce that XYZ decent players have agreed new contracts." I REALLY hope I'm wrong.
  20. Very fair play to Annan. Much deserved over the two legs and a promotion has been coming for them Wullie Gibson however, is a vile little racist b*****d. Fair play for apologising on the telly but I’ve got a feeling “act like a w****r, apologise later” is something he’s a pro at these days. Regarding Clyde, I’m genuinely gutted we haven’t been able to enjoy L1. Every season has been a horrible slog. Hopefully next season is a bit better in the league below but we need to be sorting the management and signing players straight away given the other L2 teams are making moves.
  21. I know you're a sad loser guy on some kind of weird wee fishing frenzy, but this is actually a good point. Rendered moot by the fact that Stenny have a larger budget than us, which will certainly be the case again next season. This means that we have to feed off of the likes of Stenny's scraps, including management. We just have to hope that he's learned from his tenure at Ochilview and doesn't make the same mistakes again.
  22. The only three I'd want to keep are Mullen, Roberts and Salkeld. Obviously we're lumbered with some under contract too. There is an argument to be had that some of these players are L2 level anyway and would probably be ok, but I don't think that matters. After a season as poor as this one, a huge refresh is needed. There's no way we should be going into next season carrying a squad with a losing mentality. We're going to need every advantage possible to not go down again.
