  1. Leave politics and religion to the bigot brothers.
  2. You got sucked into the 'Wee Jimmy' nametag as a derogatory term cooked up by Scotland in Union at one of their fundraising shindigs in the borders attended by prominent members of the Orange Lodge. Where some of the raffle ticket prizes were Shooting week ends in the highlands-Fishing on the Tweed & a Safari in Africa. Like it or not you are using that groups propaganda and therefore associating yourself with them. You seem to be happy with that - so fair enough.
  3. Good grief Shadwell ! this is an adult football forum. What you playing at indulging in primary school playground name calling of politicians. If you want that type of thing Scotland In Union will welcome you with open arms and an orange sash !
  4. I was highlighting that the game itself taking place will increase the social mixing concentrating people together in a short time frame. That's why I suggested a start point with crowds and monitor infection rates and take it from there.
  5. Don't think the crowds getting into the stadium, watching the game, leaving the stadium is the issue. Crowd management takes care of that so that aspect can be supervised and controlled. The concern is the social aspect of going to and from the game. The pints and social interaction before and after. The temptation to break the regulations on such basic things like giving somebody outside your contact group a lift in your car back home. Small thing but multiply that over every crowd watching football in Scotland and there is the opportunity for the virus to spread. My option would be a limited crowd 200-500 whatever wait 3 weeks to examine infection statistics and test and trace and check if they can be traced to a game. If everybody plays by the rules infections don't get traced to the game. Increase capacity and repeat with monitor-review-revise. Not perfect by any means but it is a way forward that addresses the desires and concerns of all parties. Crowds back - People buy into it - Infections stay low all motivated by the knowledge that its up to the fans. That's fair !
  6. It is a different situation to the Albert Hall venue and type of crowd that attend these events and are not be anything close to a comparison. Getting in and out the stadium and watching the game is simple because it can be controlled and therefore not the issue. It's the social ritual before and after the game that is the risk and that is why there are no crowds.
  7. What a good problem it would be having the forum discussing the best position to play him when he is signed. Still think a club in a higher division will come in for him though.
  8. If he was to walk up and down the pitch 12 times people could say ' Man on the Green Mile' Oh dear ! that was pathetic.
  9. Could happen to any club and would like to think that FFC will offer any support they can to Kilmarnock FC regarding re arranging the fixture. This won't be the first and won't be the last situation of this type.
  10. It may be the case of no more than a bit of goodwill being shown by the club to Kingsley. Great player for Falkirk who left on good terms and best wishes and putting a sizable transfer fee into the clubs coffers to boot. So no problem helping the guy trying to get back to a competitive level of fitness and game sharpness. The reason he is not with a club at a higher level could well be there are doubts about that. Falkirk and Kingsley could be beneficial to each other so its a win win for both with minimal outlay. Falkirk get a class player and the team gets a lift from it. Kingsley proves he can stand up to the rough and tumble of the league and get a move after 6 month / end of season or whatever. Go for it
  11. It's the reckoning and a shakeout of Scottish Football as we know it. Forget government support, if they can let the hospitality industry go to the wall because of Covid legislation then Scottish Football does not even register. When the first club folds / goes into hibernation / withdraws from league then more will follow. I look no further in ambitions for the club other than having FFC still in existence come August next year.
  12. Leonard Cohen nailed it 'The rich get rich-The poor get poor-That's how it goes=Everybody knows' We are witnessing the most brutal and callus face of capitalism. This is how it works, Capitalism is based on the creation of wealth filling the glass. What spills over the top is then used for social purposes and the benefit of the population at large. What we have had is a neat trick by the establishment elite and it's simple. Just keep making the glass larger to catch more of the wealth created. The perfect example is Somerset Investments Ltd the investment house created by Jacob Rees Mogg who still has a 15% stake in a blind trust and is based in the tax haven of the Cayman Islands. Their CEO sent a message to their client list at the start of the pandemic saying. 'The situation presents an opportunity for above normal returns on your investment' This ethical and moral vacuum seeing the un folding human tragedy and daily increasing mortality rate thinks ' Cash to be made out of this ' It's the unacceptable face of capitalism and you are either with that type of capitalist system or against it. That's my Sunday rant - lets talk football !
  13. Sneddon ! as for left sided center half's if anything its an advantage. Lets just say at this stage it would be a great problem to have.
  14. Well lets just hope this turns out to be a real situation and not a what if ! Great problem to have.
  15. He whose name you do not mention is just trying to get a reaction, don't give him what he wants. Nothing will annoy him more than being ignored. Talk about him not to him.
  16. If FFC get the biggest break in a generation and get Kingsley then play him CH beside Dixon. Both have played as center backs at a high level so the 'they are left backs' excuse is nonsense.
  17. He will be lucky if they ever pass the ball to him. Take ? % pay cut so they could sign him - I would be raging !
  18. That is where M&M will earn their pay, punting the ball into a crowded 18 yard box ain't going to do it. Bit of tactical nuance required, push and run , one two's dare them to tackle when running at pace into the box.
  19. Hope so ! but a statement of re assurance from the club would cost nothing and be good PR.
  20. When they were working out the budget for the coming season FFC must have costed the worst case scenario of no crowds. If they didn't then FFC are F****d ! If fundamental business best practice. What's the worst that can happen ? OK what precautions can we take to ensure survival should that happen. Now Deans and other people on board are financially savvy. They did not get to where they were in business if they weren't. The club should make a statement to reassure the support. Failure to do so will just get people thinking ' what ain't they telling us ? and why'
  21. My dad told me when he came home from WW2 'If you wanted a good place to stand at Brockville you went down before 1.30pm to get well up the que, If you got a barrier to lean against you were doing well' People will be desperate for a bit of normality and banter, for those that can afford it that is. We should not kid ourselves there will be many diehards that won't and out thoughts should be with everybody in that situation. Balancing things out we will do well to get the same crowds as least full season.
  22. If clubs have set their budgets including crowds at games at some stage of the season. Then they are up shit creek !
  23. Kingsley and Dixon have played center backs. Both of them are more experienced, played at a higher level and are better footballers than Durnan and Hall.
  24. Mercer-Durnan-Hall-Dixon or Mercer-Kingsley-Dixon-Sneddon I go for the latter
