I really don’t understand that attitude of ‘vowing to never go back’ to an opponents stadium just because you’ve seen us lose there a few times. Was it not around 14 seasons in a row we failed to win the first game of the season. Did you also vow to never go to another first game of the season again at that point too? Maybe you should vow to stop going to matches after the clocks go back since everything usually goes to shit around about then too.

That sentimental p*sh can get in the bin, it's a completely different competition from what it was when we won it. As I've said I'm in no way a Barry Smith fan, I wanted him out the door after the disgrace of last season but we're stuck with him now, at least for the short term, and in my opinion it's ridiculous that some people are calling for his head after ONE 'competitive' match. I shudder at the thought of some people on here ever being allowed to volunteer nevermind join the board. Barry Smith only had 3 of his new 7 signings available for selection yesterday as well as a handful of others unavailable AND he's clearly stated his recruitment is unfinished. Give some of you dafties your own way and we'd be making the club even more of a mess by sacking him now. We had the chance to sack him at the end of last season, we didn't, and now unfortunately we have to stick with him and see how we begin the league campaign. I'm not hopeful at all but I'm at least willing to give him a chance to prove the new signings.

Let's just all chill oot ffs. Wasn't at the game but having read the reports and read some of you miserable b*stards I can gather that we were average first half, woeful in the second half and things look more of the same from last season.? I'm not a big fan of Smith but cut him a bit of slack here - 12 players out the door, 7 in so far with only 3 available for selection today. Might have officially been a competitive match but it was basically a pre-season friendly. Let's wait and judge Smith/this squad once we at least see it closer to completion and most of the new signings available for selection. Also, look at the other results today - Falkirk losing to an unfinished Montrose squad, Dumbarton failing to score against Spartans, Accies losing away to Annan, St Johnstone unable to score against the Methil minks and Dundee United failing to beat Arbroath. Last season Falkirk and Dundee United romped their groups then had miserable league campaigns, Alloa finished bottom of their group and look what they achieved over the season, even Albion Rovers smashed their League Cup group last season and look how their season panned out!
