Finding a way to get a lease on Ainslie or meggatland, which means finding how to kick hutchy vale or tynecastle back to saughton.

In other words a club that wants to move away from a ground with a running track, has to get a smaller club to go back to a ground with a running track.

So simply put a competitive team out and win the west juniors then you would have had access?

Do you see yourselves climbing the divisions? Or do you think the only benefit will be access to Scottish (assuming you are licensed)

You can't even be consistent from post to post - you bemoan the fact that clubs are now spending too much money and are unsustainable, then next post you're saying that clubs in the Juniors should've just been more competitive (i.e. spent money) and win the league to access the Scottish Cup. Fortunately access to the Scottish Cup is now available to those who invest in their club and facilities, and even smaller clubs like Carluke can achieve this.

I can see the LL becoming a closed shop soon. The SPFL do not want to lose clubs that have historically always been in the SPFL.

Bit late for that, the LL already has four ex-SPFL clubs (plus Gretna) and none look like returning any time soon.

But it's not though. There are clubs from all over the country, from different regions in the first round draw. Look back on wiki at the years before the pyramid came about and you will see plenty of years where there were the majority of teams in the quarters from the West.

Sorry, by "this stage" I meant the upcoming SJC quarters, and yes I did look back before the exodus where usually 3/8 were non-WOS teams.

The SJC is the best non-league cup in Scotland, South Challenge is very poorly run and prize money is shocking, West of Scotland Cup not taking particularly serious. Even the superstars of our league, Clydebank, got it handed to them in final of the South Challenge Cup after failing to remotely compete with Talbot.

The Lowland league is the league no one wants to be in, zero crowds, plastic pitches galore, higher costs, further travel. I have yet to see an agruement that the lowland league is a league fans want to be in or a league that anyone really takes note of. It is the graveyard league.

You got beat by the second worst team in the Lowland League, I don't think you're in any place to talk about other clubs cup results.

So the competition with by far the biggest prize pot shouldn't be allowed, why does the west of scotland not match the £20k winning cheque for the west of scotland cup likewise the south challenge cup?

The overwhelming majoirty of teams are in favour of playing the the junior cup. Other than Clydebank in the premier league who we all know the competition is below their board of directors, I think the rest are all involved? May be others however can't think off the top of my head.

Actually paying prize money these days, or still hoping the gate covers the guarantee?

The Junior Cup does not have prize money, the clubs get paid from the gate money with the SJFA guaranteeing a certain amount each round - £2k for the upcoming quarter-finals for example, meaning if there's a big enough crowd the SJFA aren't paying out any money. (unsure if that table in the rules means both clubs or only the losers in each round get the money listed?)

Also 24/80 WOSFL clubs do not take part in the Junior Cup btw.

However picking up on your first point, in it's current form it is a voluntary competition so hell mend any club who enters and gets an unwanted away draw. You've got to be in it to win it and it seems a lot of clubs actually want to do just that...regardless of what those young arty farty new age types say!

Voluntary except for the East and North Region clubs of course. Am I a young arty farty new age type for thinking that the SJFA should be doing more to help smaller clubs with travel expenses rather than guaranteeing so much "prize money" in the latter stages?

I loved the Junior cup, but just haven't had the same feeling about it since the old East Region clubs left. We have made the Quarters this year and there isn't the same buzz around getting there than there has been in the past.

Well at this stage it's basically a WOS Cup, with only 1 non-WOS team in the quarters in the last five tournaments, compared to usually 3 before the East teams left.

Fairly sure the rule is to do with contact with the ground in encroachment which will almost always be the foot.

On that basis, in the image above all the players chasing forward are still in their own half.

I considered that until I realised it was for the Dundee player at the top...

  6. 1 minute ago, LIVIFOREVER said:

Is it not similar to a penalty kick when players are over the line before the kick is taken? It's in the phase of play leading to the goal and not hard to check back, was a straight kick up to Mellon who had a head start being in our half before the restart.

It's similar but not the same, penalties are a special case as there is a specific table of offences and sanctions and it's basically the same as VAR getting involved for goal/penalty decisions.

Also, if you watch the kick off again the Dundee player stops running and then sprints again, so not that much of an advantage. The push, well there's obviously contact, there question is how much versus the Livi player already being off balance - if the ref said the VAR that they'd seen it but didn't think it was enough for a foul I'm not sure the VAR can call it a clear and obvious error.

  7. 5 hours ago, LIVIFOREVER said:

Pretty clear encroachment before the ball is kicked to restart the game. VAR is meant to check everything leading up to a goal in the immediate phase of play. How did they miss this?

VAR does not intervene to ensure the correct procedure is followed at restarts (makes sense as after all, once play has restarted VAR cannot get involved). And if you are doing it for kick-offs then it also needs to be done for free kicks, throw-ins and corners leading to a goal/penalty/red card.

Why would you be against teams needing to have their own grounds? At present there is no limit to how many teams can use the one ground. I know approx. costs to maintain our pitch per year, Clydebank using council facilities which they share with Yoker have no such expense.

Do you think this should also apply to SPFL clubs such as Stirling Albion and Spartans?

Nearly 6 weeks since I posed this question and still absolutely nothing from the Midlands League.

Looking like a midweek March date at the earliest for the first Lochee Broughty game.  And who knows re the second.

Saturday 16th March is free for both, and so is 20th April. That's the final day of the Highland League season so in theory the Midlands champion should be decided on that date if there is to be an immediate play-off v HL club 18 on the next two Saturdays (or maybe it gets delayed if either league runs over). That's 25 Wed/Sat matchdays to play Lochee's 18 league + Junior Cup + Inter-regional + East Region cup ties.

Any P&B'ers ever considered getting a breast augmentation so they could have their own set to play with?

Also, this bloke apparently lives "next door" to a pedophile? Interesting street parties round West Calder way...

There's a crossdressing Twitch streamer that was offered $300k to get implants for a year, thought about it but said no.

    FROM 2025
The minimum level of capacity is 500 covered places, at least 100 of these must be seated

Think that would only really affect Tranent and Bo'ness in tier 5, either some more standing enclosures to be built at non-league level in general or those small 100 seat stands where there's already lots of cover (for those looking to get to the SPFL of course).

The angle of filming obviously isn't ideal for making a definitive call, but was there a Pollok player just standing blatantly offside and in the keeper's line of sight or something?

I'd be inclined to give the lino the benefit of the doubt that he flagged fractionally early because the decision was a no brainer from his perspective. It's still not a good look that he was quite so trigger happy. He'd have looked daft if the player dummied the ball.

Screenshot, no Pollok players in the line of sight or in an offside position but even if there was the referee is the one who would make the call on the line of sight. Plus of course you need the ball to have actually been played first for there to be an offside and the referee didn't indicate an indirect free kick later. Assistant already has his flag up before it's kicked!

Must've given it for the coming together closest to the assistant. Fortunately it didn't affect the game but I'd say the assistant and more importantly the referee have forgotten the first point of law 12 which is "Direct and indirect free kicks and penalty kicks can only be awarded for offences committed when the ball is in play."

Edin Uniy now looking fav to fall out of the LL. I’m expecting them to come to EoS.

It's Gretna v Ed Uni on the last day of the LL season, Uni 3 points behind but with a better GD at the moment so that could change.

Or if Clyde stage a 5 point comeback in L2 and it's Forfar or Elgin who go down with EK going up, then no one gets relegated from the LL.

Or if unlicensed Beith or St Cadoc's win the WOSFL then it's likely the EOS winners go up when they play the SOS champions.

  14. "What's he supposed to do" says Sutton - maybe not go studs up into the head of the goalkeeper at chest height? The player must know there's a chance of making contact even if you do get the ball.

Sutton calls for action surrounding head injuries and concussion, well this is the sort of thing that should be a red card as it's quite obviously serious foul play (endangering the safety of an opponent). Red cards are needed here so that players think twice about their actions, as we've seen in rugby with the protocols on head contact and tackle heights. This would be a red card in rugby - head contact, foul play, high degree of danger, no mitigation - and should be in football as well.

EOS winner will be a licensed club as the lowest non-licensed side is 11th. SOS 4th place is the highest non-licensed side.

*12th - the bottom 5 are all non-licensed. IHS can reach a maximum of 59 pts so a few games and soon a licensed tier 6 champion will be confirmed.

I was told when I attended the only proper match* that has been played at the new ground in Kirkintilloch that it was expressly because KRR hadn't put a penny towards it that the cooncil are going out of thier way to give KRR the cold shoulder.

The person telling me that could have got his facts wrong of course, but that's what I was told...

But you'd think that if KRR were paying normal rates to rent the ground for Saturday games and/or training nights then the council would be happy to take their money while they decide on the lease? Or are one or both parties not speaking to each other about using it while the lease is still being sorted?

Good to see that irvines fixtures have been sorted now if Kenny can hop down to the 3rd division and sort Bellshills out that would be great best part of 3 months without a home game and probably one of the only grass parks at the level able to get games on in the winter months 🟡⚫🟡⚫

You were supposed to be playing Threave at home on 20th January which would break up the run of away games, but for some reason it is postponed and now Threave are playing Stranraer in a South Counties FA Challenge Cup match. Something that Kennie should really be explaining, especially as Bellshill have played 3-4 games fewer than their nearest challengers and are still in the Junior Cup.

  18. Leith Athletic making the long trip to Threave, but they are quite rightly not happy about it and seemingly not getting answers as to why they have to make the trip two days before Christmas - when 20th January is a free week for them and two other ties with LL/EOS clubs are being played then.

    https://leithathleticeos.co.uk/club-statement-south-challenge-cup-4th-round/

    https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/leith-athletic-demand-explanation-from-south-challenge-cup-committee-over-scheduled-match-4451914

When I looked at the WOS website a couple of weeks ago, Threave had a fixture on the 20th so it's not quite as straightforward as the other two ties. Now it appears Threave have a free week in the WOS and instead are playing Stranraer in the South Counties FA Challenge Cup. Meanwhile their opponents Bellshill posted a fixture list on Facebook 3 days ago, seemingly unaware that their 20th January game is postponed!

So how did that come about @Kennie and if Threave can miss a WOS fixture why couldn't the Leith game be played then?
