  1. Hmmm, not yet. Bit of nostalgia only lets us Ayr fans know when things are good.
  2. Yeah, faux pas on my part. However true what you say, there’s always a hurdle lol
  3. Coldest I’ve ever been at an Ayr game was a reserve game v Rangers reserves in the 90’s. A horrible Monday night but the whole main stand was full as McCoist, Russian sounding names and a few other first team of ‘them’ were playing. Ayr fans were put in the enclosure but we won with Justin Jackson (remember him?) scoring a hat trick. Only time I’ve seen us beating one of the uglies.
  4. It makes my top 5 of shitty away days. We scored early then got pumped. It was Baltic that night. Alloa away makes two entries to my top 5 tho. That cup game will haunt many an Ayr fan.
  5. I still seethe at paying £5 for two bovrils away at Cowdungbeath. And we got beat that horrible midweek nightmare. Oh how times have changed. Hmmm buy a pack of bovril cubes for a quid in Tesco and sell one for a quid at the footy. Boardroom beckons lol
  6. Exactly. There was an iconic pic of Ayr fans on an away day pissing on ‘castle greyskull’. I’ve tried to find that picture.
  7. Scary thought with Derek holding the Ayrshire cup in one hand and Southern comfort in the other lol
  8. Yes agreed but it’s the hypothetical question of “what if?”
  9. Ok, here’s a question to put the ‘cat amongst the pigeons’ and one for debate. How much do you think it would cost to buy Ayr United? Say an Ayr fan won eurosquilliins and rocked up at Tryfield place with an open chequebook. Cameron has said he just wants his money back, so £1million straight off. The ground say £2million, putting that figure as you’d need to buy back the car park to have complete dictatorship in any redevelopment of San Somerset, if you want to. Paying off the board, probably about £500k(Mind you taking the club public with shares to fans would claw some of that back). Then there’s the question of if there is a sale, are you required to buy the ground at Whitletts? Of which you’d have to either put in major redevelopment, paying off SAC and come up with an idea to make a profitable, efficient development to pay for a new stadium if you want to move. Then there’s actually putting the product on the park and getting people to pay their hard earned cash. I say not much change out of circa £10 million. Thus why nobody is banging down the door to buy the club. Or did the charlatans like Gilmour’s so called £28 million re development scare people off? Still to this day people ask the question of “what if Murray had bought Ayr?” He wasn’t actually buying Ayr United, the truth was that it was a buy out as a loan against the club.
  10. Keigan Parker’s wondergoal ruined by Reid’s reaction. Been a turbulent few years for us lot. Having to endure the Kyle, Beattie, mcmanus eras. Players who were actually good at other clubs ala McCann and Twaddle becoming complete dumplings and yo yoing between divisions. Staring the abyss into the 4th tier of Scottish football away to Forfar. Oh how supporting Ayr over 30 years has been a rollercoaster of emotions. ........and just now I’m happy as fook with this team.
  11. Can we not just enjoy ourselves just now instead of bickering about crowd numbers, stay away fans and wether the chairman has done a good job or not? We are sitting top of the league by two points, people seem to forget anything above 8th is an achievement! The aim is to stay up and establish ourselves and just now we are seeing something marvellous we haven’t seen for a long, long time. The crowd numbers are just about right and increasing with momentum. I had a look at a few statistics and when we were in the top flight in the 70’s, the crowd numbers outwith the so called bigger games were averaging 3.5k. That’s when there was an abundance of industry about the auld toon with the stamp works, aerospace, a functioning harbour....to name a few. So round about 2.5k is also an achievement after the dark years we’ve been through. Fans are starting to come back, albeit slowly. As long as there’s money going through the turnstile and it’s increasing then embrace it.
  12. Very true. Originally I was just asking the question but other posters said the ‘rumour’ was on other social media. Well seeing it’s the international break. Did the reserves play yesterday?
  13. No mate, I’m not on fb. Just something a mate texted. Doubt it as well. Just however on other threads, others know more.
  14. Is there any truth that Harvie and McCall had a bit more than a few choice words on Saturday?
  15. Yes there was nothing malicious in the celebration. Quite funny but the celebration for the 5th was disturbing.
  16. If you watch the AU Media interviews Naismith said that Harkins took pelters before the game and has never said a bad word about Ayr. However watching his celebration scoring says differently.
  17. Tbh think I was just frustration and then a wee bit more anger when the 5th was scored. Does anybody know if the fan got lifted or just put out the ground?
  18. Yesterday hurt but to be honest we needed to have a reality check. Far too many people were getting carried away. Yes we can dream but time to be realistic. The ref was abysmal but credit to QoS, their fans and the pubs of Dumfries we all crammed into. One other dull note was on about 3 occasions our own fans started on each other. It’s Ayr United, not Ayr Divided!
  19. Cheers buddy. I went 1-2, both players to score and Ayr win. If only there was a bet that could see Ayr away supporters beating season ticket holders at home. Don’t think it will be long until 1k Ayr fans are travelling (albeit not too far north)
  20. C’mon, we’ve been anticipating all this ‘knicker wetting’ stuff for years. Will they, won’t they? Naw! McCall has built a team he wants and Shankland is our ‘talisman’ until the end of the season (hopefully). Both have both said they owe Ayr United a debt of gratitude. We are a championship side that will put the fear into, so called ‘bigger’ teams. Been a long time that we’ve had confidence this high and long may it continue. Ps Hursty, what’s the bet? Made a fair few bob off your predictions.
  21. Moff is a legend in my book, gave my son a signed jersey from the Brechin game with ‘18’ on the back because he was born on the 18th. People seem to forget he was played on the left wing under Reid whereas he’s found his natural position and doing very well doing so. Some times Ayr fans are never happy, enjoy this ladies and gents, been a long long time since we’ve been happy!
